Darby Allin scales Mount Everest, becomes first pro wrestler to reach the summit
Image via AEW
AEW's Darby Allin has officially reached the summit of Mount Everest, becoming the first professional wrestler to achieve the feat. The 32-year-old scaled the world's highest peak at 8:50 AM local time on May 18, 2025, alongside a team of experienced Sherpas.
The expedition was part of the Everest Pvt 25 Experience, and Allin's team included renowned climbers Ang Dorjee Sherpa (24th summit), Pasang Bhote (14th summit), Tashi Thundu Sherpa (12th summit), and Pemba Sherpa (2nd summit). According to the official update, the team is now descending to Camp 4 after briefly soaking in the surreal moment at the summit.
The climb had been in the works for over a year. Allin had originally planned to attempt Everest in 2024 but postponed the expedition after suffering a broken foot during an AEW match. He began his climb in early April with New Zealand-based Adventure Consultants and has been off AEW programming since December 2024.
Record-breaking feat at 20,958 feet
In addition to reaching the summit, Allin set a world record for the highest kickflip ever performed - at an elevation of 20,958 feet. The stunt underscores the daredevil persona that Allin has cultivated both inside and outside the wrestling ring.
AEW officially acknowledged Allin's achievement with a congratulatory post on social media, stating, 'Congratulations to @DarbyAllin for reaching the summit of Mount Everest!' Fellow AEW wrestler Swerve Strickland also reacted to the news, writing 'TOP OF THE WORLD!!!' in a message of support.
While fans and colleagues have celebrated the monumental feat, Allin's wrestling future remains uncertain. He was last seen on AEW television during a Continental Classic Match against Ricochet in December 2024, which ended in a draw. He was written off TV following a storyline attack by The Death Riders.
Reports had suggested that Allin might return in time for the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament or AEW's Double or Nothing pay-per-view on May 25. However, with his Everest expedition still underway, it's unlikely he will appear at either.
There's no official timeline for Allin's return, but when he does step back into the ring, fans can expect him to resume his rivalry with Jon Moxley and The Death Riders - a storyline that AEW has deliberately left open-ended.
For now, Darby Allin is living up to his moniker in a way no one expected, by reaching literal new heights.

Rice, spice and quiz marks Tasty Trivia's debut in Bhubaneswar
BHUBANESWAR: Tasty Trivia, a growing quizzing community, debuted in Bhubaneswar on Saturday by hosting an interesting quiz competition themed 'Rice, Spice & Everything Nice' at Patia-based The Space. Exploring Asia through the lens of Indian history, food, pop culture, and business, the quiz saw over 80 young professionals, students and curious minds gather for a full-house trivia evening. With clue-based questions, collaborative solving, and a warm, welcoming vibe, the event saw solo participants and teams of two take on a series of clever challenges. Started by Ashoka University alumni members Susovan Mahapatra and Saloni Mehta in Bangalore this year, they said trivia and quizzing have long been niche hobbies in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon and Bangalore, often limited to exclusive clubs or formal circuits. 'We began Tasty Trivia as a passion project to re-imagine quizzing as something more accessible, beginner-friendly and community-led. Our goal is to create inclusive, joyful offline spaces where anyone, not just seasoned quizzers, can show up, have fun, and leave with a new fact and a smile,' Susovan said. While Susovan has been a quizzer since school, Saloni discovered the joy of trivia more recently and the duo now hopes to make the format more open, social and beginner-friendly. Saloni is currently chief of staff at an American edtech company, while Susovan is part of the founding team at Aramya, one of India's fastest-growing ethnic wear brands. After a successful event at Bhubaneswar, they plan to host Tasty Trivia in cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Goa and Hyderabad.

'15 games a year won't be easy': Sourav Ganguly says Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli have tough road ahead to 2027 World Cup
Former India captain Sourav Ganguly said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will face a stern test to keep themselves fit and motivated to play only ODIs for India following their recent Test retirements. The senior Indian duo have limited themselves to only the ODI format after having announced their T20I retirements last year after India lifted the T20 World Cup in Barbados. With India only playing a handful of 50-over matches, Rohit and Kohli, who last featured in the IPL 2025 season will have reduced game time in international cricket this year. Having lost an opportunity to clinch the ODI World Cup and made amends during the Champions Trophy triumph in Dubai earlier this year, Rohit and Kohli have reportedly been keen to push on for the next 50-overs World Cup in South Africa in late 2027. 'It won't be easy, fifteen games a year. I've got no advice. I think they know the game as much as I do, and they (Rohit & Virat) will make their own decisions. But all of us must understand that, like everyone else, the game will eventually move on from them, and they will move on from the game,' Ganguly told PTI in an interaction. The former BCCI president also stated that he believed Kohli could have had a great run in England, had he chosen to continue in Tests. 'Retirement should happen when people ask 'Why?' and not 'Why not?' As a player, you always know your place. He knew he didn't have the best of 5 years in Tests but champions like him find ways to rediscover themselves. If Virat was on this England tour, I'm confident he would've scored heavily. But he felt it was time to go,' Ganguly said. Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir had recently said that the doors will remain open for both stalwarts to feature in the next World Cup until they keep performing. 'Look, it's still a long way away. We still have a T20 World Cup before that, and that is again a huge tournament that is going to happen in India, which is in February-March. So the entire focus at the moment, after England, will be on the T20 World Cup, and November-December 2027 is still two-and-a-half years away. And I've always said one thing – if you keep performing, age is just a number,' he said ahead of the tour to England. With a tour to Bangladesh in August in limbo, Rohit and Kohli will most likely return to international action only four months later when India travel to Australia for three ODIs in a limited-overs tour. India are then slated to play 21 more bi-lateral ODIs up until January 2027 according to the ICC's FTP schedule. India 2025 remaining ODI schedule (as per ICC FTP) Bangladesh vs India, August 2025 – 3 ODIs (August 17-23)* Australia vs India, October 2025 – 3 ODIs (October 19-25) India vs South Africa, Nov-Dec 2025 – 3 ODIs (November 30-December 6) India vs New Zealand, January 2026 – 3 ODIs India vs Afghanistan, June 2026 – 3 ODIS India vs West Indies, September 2026 – 3 ODIs New Zealand vs India, Oct-Nov 2026 – 3 ODIs India vs Sri Lanka, December 2026 – 3 ODIs
