Authorium Selected by California for GenAI-Enabled Legislative Analysis

Miami Herald28-05-2025

SACRAMENTO, CA / ACCESS Newswire / May 28, 2025 / Today, Authorium, the cloud-based technology company that delivers its eponymous end-to-end platform for government administrative operations, announced that they have been selected to implement a GenAI-enabled solution to efficiently and accurately develop legislative bill analyses utilizing existing documents and other publicly available information for the California Department of Finance.
"GenAI has great potential to enhance our ability to deliver high-quality analysis to California policymakers. We look forward to piloting this technology to enhance our efficiency, accuracy, and capacity," said Christian Beltran, Deputy Director of Legislation at the California Department of Finance.
This award supports the State's commitment of Gov. Gavin Newsom's Executive Order N-12-23 which recognizes GenAI's "potential to catalyze innovation and the rapid development of a wide range of benefits for Californians and the California economy."
"We are honored to be selected by the California Department of Finance to increase efficiency and effectiveness in critical legislative and policy efforts," said Jay Nath and Kamran Saddique, Co-CEOs of Authorium. "As a public benefit corporation, we remain fully focused on enabling government teams to modernize operational and administrative processes through our no-code platform."
Currently, Department of Finance (DOF) team members comb through volumes of legislative material, including over 1,000 legislative bills and proposals annually. Working together with Authorium, DOF aims to significantly reduce the manual workload associated with drafting bill analyses including:
summarizing a bill, collecting fiscal information from impacted state entities, andparsing relevant data sets and sources for background and historical information.
The California Department of Technology (CDT) will support the use, security, and maintenance of the GenAI tool. They will also provide oversight and guidance throughout the lifecycle of the project to ensure the system is used effectively and responsibly.
"California is embracing emerging technologies and innovation to modernize how we serve the public. By exploring the use of Generative AI in legislative workflows, we're laying the foundation for smarter, faster, and more transparent government services," said Liana Bailey-Crimmins, State Chief Information Officer and Director of the California Department of Technology.
The Department of Finance intends to scale insights across bill analyses to spotlight shared needs and statewide opportunities for more efficient and effective deployment of the State's budget resources.
To expedite delivery and ensure stronger outcomes, Authorium's contract was awarded through a Request for Innovative Ideas (RFI²) solicitation, a procurement vehicle that seeks innovative ideas to solve a well-defined problem statement, then selects a solution provider based on their ability to demonstrate its effectiveness. The RFI² concept was first introduced in 2019 when Gov. Gavin Newsom signed an executive order that created the new procurement method by asking for solutions to test in response to the wildfire challenges in California. The vision of this methodology is to leverage the innovative vendor, academic, scientific, and entrepreneurial communities to solve the State's most pressing challenges.
Beyond the Department of Finance, Authorium's platform enables teams at the California Public Employees' Retirement System, CalRecycle, Department of Social Services and more in the Golden State, as well as agencies across the United States from Washington to Florida - to increase efficiency, effectiveness, visibility, and compliance. A recent study with the U.S. Air Force demonstrated that Authorium's platform was able to cut acquisition timelines by 20%.
Authorium is hosted exclusively on AWS GovCloud, the leading regulated industry cloud solution that technology leaders trust to manage sensitive data, and is GovRAMP Authorized, SOC2 Type II, HIPAA compliant, and adheres to stringent federal and DoD security requirements.

Engineering the Future with AI

"The biggest challenge isn't just deploying AI, it's embedding it into complex workflows while ensuring compliance, traceability, and IP protection," says K. A. Prabhakaran, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Cyient Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own. You're reading Entrepreneur India, an international franchise of Entrepreneur Media. In a rapidly evolving industrial landscape, where the boundaries of design, manufacturing, and aftersales are increasingly blurred by digitalisation, Indian multinational Cyient is placing intelligent engineering at the heart of transformation. Established in 1991 and now employing over 17,000 people globally, Cyient has evolved into a leader in blending deep domain expertise with next-generation technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI (GenAI), and simulation tools to drive industry-wide innovation. "Our technology portfolio is designed to embed intelligence across the product, plant, and asset lifecycle," shares K. A. Prabhakaran, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Cyient. "We are using AI to accelerate design cycles, optimise manufacturing, increase supply chain visibility, and drive predictive maintenance and aftermarket intelligence." From aerospace and railways to energy, healthcare, and telecom, Cyient's technology is delivering measurable outcomes. Their AI- powered tools have shortened product development timelines, improved asset uptime, and enhanced customer service through GenAI- driven diagnostics and contextual assistants. In telecommunications, Cyient automates network planning and fibre deployments, while in healthcare, their CyNet platform aids in precise fetal diagnostics. One notable case is the company's Plant Advisor solution, which has demonstrated a 67 per cent accuracy in recommending efficiency improvements, underscoring the real-world value of AI in operational environments. What keeps Cyient ahead in the game is its strong culture of learning, strategic partnerships, and co-innovation with customers. "We've trained over 5,000 associates in AI, cloud, and platform technologies," says Prabhakaran. "Our Centres of Excellence, especially the GenAI CoE, serve as catalysts for continuous innovation." Cyient's collabration with Microsoft under the 'EnGeneer' initiative is another step forward in transforming engineering lifecycles through AI-led automation. The company also actively engages with analyst communities and customers to align its offerings with evolving market needs. Yet, integrating AI into traditional engineering ecosystems isn't without its hurdles especially in highly regulated sectors like aerospace and healthcare. "The biggest challenge isn't just deploying AI, it's embedding it into complex workflows while ensuring compliance, traceability, and IP protection," explains Prabhakaran. To tackle this, Cyient has established a robust governance framework that includes human- in-the-loop systems, modular deployments for secure data handling, and domain-specific validation gates. "It's this precision and rigour that makes our AI trustworthy and acts as a natural barrier to entry for others," he concludes.

I replaced my notes app with ChatGPT — here's how it upgraded my productivity

Like most people, I used to rely on my phone's built-in notes app for everything: grocery lists, lists for the kids, random reminders and half-finished ideas. This resulted in something that felt like a cluttered digital junk drawer filled with hundreds of notes. Many titled 'List,' 'Another list' or simply untiled and left to the default 'New list.' But when ChatGPT rolled out memory and the latest Projects upgrade, I decided to test a new approach and completely replaced my notes app with ChatGPT. The hope was that AI could help me stay more organized After a few weeks of testing, here's what I've learned and, how I now use ChatGPT to manage everything from errands to creative projects. The first thing I noticed: ChatGPT is great at capturing messy thoughts; no formatting or full sentences required. I can simply say: Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Instead of dozens of disconnected notes, ChatGPT stores everything in context, and remembers related details when I need them. The Projects feature is key. Instead of one giant 'Vacation' note, I now have actual projects where I can upload documents, add ideas and chat with ChatGPT to refine plans: Travel project: flight details, hotel info, sightseeing ideas Work project: article pitches, interview notes, outlines Meal planning: recipes to try, weekly grocery lists Since ChatGPT remembers previous conversations, I can jump back into any project and it picks up right where we left off; unlike my old notes app, which always felt disconnected. While ChatGPT doesn't yet sync with my calendar, it's surprisingly useful for soft reminders and planning my day. For example: ChatGPT will break the list down by priority and suggest when to tackle each task. I can even set a reminder within ChatGPT Tasks. Sometimes that gentle nudge is exactly what I need to stay focused. Here's what surprised me most: I actually take fewer notes now, but better ones. Quality over quantity, because instead of dumping every stray thought into a note, I now have interactive conversations with ChatGPT that help clarify what I really need. It's a smarter, more thoughtful way to process information, and much easier to search later. Besides staying more organized, it's also helped me check off more on each of my lists. I've started and completed more projects now that they are organized efficiently. Can ChatGPT fully replace my notes app? For quick reminders, brainstorming and project planning — absolutely. For calendar events and time-sensitive alerts? Not quite yet. But for the first time in years, I feel far more organized, and my thoughts feel less chaotic. I'm spending more time acting on ideas instead of digging through random lists, which feels like a big win.
