Former NBA star Eric Bledsoe arrested after allegedly striking woman in the face
Former NBA star Eric Bledsoe was arrested Wednesday and booked on a felony domestic violence charge after allegedly striking a woman in the face, TMZ reported.
According to the outlet, Bledsoe, 35, was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol around 2:30 a.m. and the domestic violence incident was said to have occurred on a Los Angeles-area freeway.
He was being held on $50,000 bail.

The highway patrol's investigation into the report of domestic violence brought them to a gas station near U.S. 101, where Bledsoe was allegedly found with a woman who was dealing with 'bruising and swelling to her face.'
The woman alleged that Bledsoe hit her and was the reason for the bruising and swelling, but he refused to speak and was then handcuffed and thrown in jail, police reportedly said.
The former point guard also had the police called to his Los Angeles home just two months ago after his neighbors reported an alleged domestic dispute, TMZ reported.
Bledsoe and his girlfriend, Briona Mae, were reportedly uncooperative when police arrived.
An investigation reportedly concluded that some dispute did take place, but there were no signs of domestic violence.
No arrests were made, per TMZ.

Bledsoe was, however, arrested in a similar incident three years ago involving Mae when he was booked for a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.
That case was ultimately dropped after she gave 'inconsistent statements about whether there was a physical altercation.'
It's unclear who the woman involved in Wednesday's incident is.

Dixon, filed a lawsuit on Thursday stating that there were at least two underage females with whom Joe had sexual relations, and another with whom he allegedly fell in love. In the documents, Dixon's lawyer, Tyrone A. Blackburn, noted that a 16-year-old girl of Dominican descent once offered to perform oral and other sexual acts on Joe in exchange for money, clothes, and cell phone bill payments. Dixon even alleges that Joe entered into a sexual affair with a 15-year-old Caucasian girl after meeting with her at a concert abroad. According to him, Joe had regularly flown her to New York and Miami and paid for a BBL because her body was not fully developed. Dixon added that the girl in question is now married to a professional athlete. In the lawsuit, Dixon alleges that Fat Joe also fell in love with a Latina, and a sexual relationship started between them at just 15 years old. Joe reportedly sorted out all her financial commitments and had taken her abroad while he was performing on tours. He even got her into a condo close to where he and his wife lived in Florida and had reportedly considered leaving his wife to move in with her. According to Dixon, Joe has a sticky predilection for underage females, as he had sung about in his track "She Loves My Mama." The former hype man continued that Joe also involved him in his shenanigans by forcing him to have sex with women after his concerts. At the time, these acts happened in front of other people. As reported by TMZ, Dixon added that Joe underpaid him as a music collaborator, did not give him songwriting rights, and hid royalties and backend settlements. Reacting to the damning accusations leveled against the rapper by his ex-employee, his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, clarified that the claims were false. In his words, Dixon was merely trying to get his pound of flesh, and his lawsuit was a reactionary move to Joe's lawsuit against him. Describing it as "lies intended to damage his reputation and force a settlement through public pressure," Tacopina added that the police were fully aware of his extortionate demands from the rapper. In April, Joe headed to court to name-drop Dixon in a defamation lawsuit after he first came out with his pedophilia allegations against Joe publicly. Joe's lawsuit explained that Dixon got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when he began walking for the rapper in 2006. In 2013, the rapper was sentenced to four months in prison by U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman for failing to file tax returns with the IRS, resulting in tax debts. As seen on the DOJ New Jersey's site, Joe, whose real name is Joseph Cartagena, had already pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Cathy L. Waldor to Counts One and Two of a four-count information, for failing to file tax returns for the 2007-2010 tax years. The two counts relate to tax years 2007 and 2008. In terms of the plea agreement, however, all four years, including 2009 and 2010, were combined as a loss on tax during sentencing. In his 2013 case, according to the documents brought to court, there are statements that: Joe received payment for musical performances and got royalties on the sales of his music. Such monies were obtained in three ways from Terror Squad Production Inc. (Terror Squad), Miramar Music Touring Inc. (Miramar), and FJTS Corp. Cartagena acknowledged that his gross income in 2007 exceeded $1.18 million, in 2008 exceeded $1.28 million, in 2009 exceeded $265,000, and in 2010 exceeded $630,000. The sum of the tax loss calculated by the government then amounted to $718,038. Judge Waldor, alongside Joe's four-month sentence, ordered him to stay on supervised release for one year and pay a fine of $ 15,000. He was expected to check in by August 26, 2013, and begin serving his term in jail. In 2023, the rapper made a drastic move by shedding a massive 200 pounds. While he had a brief stint of depression, Joe believes his decision to adopt a healthy lifestyle changed his life for good. The process also ushered him into a new era of discovering himself, especially as he had to deal with the crushing blow of his best friend's death. He felt an epiphany when he attended his bestie, Big Pun's, funeral. The rapper said: "I went to his funeral, and I felt like Ebenezer Scrooge. Like, I seen me, and I'm looking at his little daughter. She was the same age as my daughter. I said, 'You gotta lose weight; otherwise, you outta here.'" Before the wheels of stardom chose him, the New York native experienced a gloomy childhood with various episodes of bullying and betrayal. In a 2022 report, The Blast shared that the rapper recalled being bullied every day as a junior high student. The experience changed him forever, transforming him into a different person. Since the age of 2, the rapper noted that he was tagged "Fat Joey," and it stuck. "You know, I'm not gonna lie, it's scary looking out the classroom window knowing that there are 20 guys waiting to beat my ass," Joe noted, adding that they never fought fair, as they would always jump him. Sean "Diddy" Combs' former assistant testified Friday about "intense" conditions while working for the disgraced music mogul. Brendan Paul began working for the "Last Night" rapper in late 2022 up until March 25, 2024 – the day Combs' Los Angeles and Miami homes were raided as part of a human trafficking investigation. Paul, a former Syracuse basketball player, claimed that Combs wanted his employees to move like "Seal Team 6," and his mission was to make sure Combs was always happy. Paul allegedly used Adderall and cocaine to stay awake while employed and would go long periods without sleeping – once for up to three days. Paul was the fifth person to receive immunity in exchange for his testimony in Combs' federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial. He told Christine Slavik of the U.S. Attorney's Office that Kristina "KK" Khorram, Combs' former chief of staff, "basically ran the enterprise" for the Bad Boy Records founder. Paul said he initially packed "a lot of joints" for Combs in the early days of his employment and would then travel ahead of Combs to "advance locations," he testified. Paul claimed he was instructed to buy drugs for the "Victory" rapper and once purchased more than $4,000 worth of marijuana from a former assistant, Phillip Pines. He testified to purchasing drugs like ecstasy, cocaine and ketamine for his boss. Paul became embroiled in Combs' legal drama in April 2024, after he was named in a lawsuit filed by Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones against the disgraced mogul. The music producer claimed Paul worked as a "mule" for Combs, procuring and distributing "drugs and guns." The former college basketball star was then charged with felony cocaine possession, which was later dropped. Nearly six weeks after the trial began, prosecutors indicated they would rest their case by Friday. The rapper's legal team recently told Judge Arun Subramanian it will need between two and five days to present its case, a stark contrast to its initial request of up to two weeks with witnesses on the stand. Combs was charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution in a federal indictment unsealed Sept. 17.

Investigator and jurors speak out about Karen Read murder trial in aftermath of not guilty verdict
Two jurors and the lead investigator in murder trial of Karen Read have come forward to comment about the case since a jury returned a not guilty verdict earlier this week. Read, 45, was charged with second-degree murder by authorities who said she intentionally hit Boston police officer John O'Keefe with her car after a night of drinking in the suburbs. The high-profile case culminated in a not guilty verdict on murder, manslaughter and leaving the scene charges Wednesday. The jury found Read guilty of operating a vehicle while under the influence. The trial has centered in part on lead investigator Michael Proctor, who defense attorneys described as biased against Read from the beginning. The State Police Trial Board found Proctor guilty of sending crude and defamatory text messages about Read while leading the investigation into her. He was fired and has drawn ire from Read supporters who believe he played a key role in a cover-up to frame her. Proctor told NBC's 'Dateline' that the idea he is corrupt and framed Read is a 'ridiculous' accusation. He specifically said an accusation that he cracked Read's taillight to make it look like she backed into O'Keefe is 'absolutely not" true. 'I laugh because it's such a ridiculous accusation,' Proctor told the program. 'There's not one piece of evidence or fact to support that because it did not happen.' The judge in the case announced via court papers Wednesday that the jurors' names would be sealed from public view due to safety concerns. But one of the jurors, who identified himself only as 'Jason' in an interview with TMZ, said he did not believe Read collided with O'Keefe. He also said he did not think investigators planted taillight pieces at the scene to frame Read. 'I don't really know if there was a cover-up or not. I know that's the big conspiracy about it but I don't really know. All I know is there was a lot of holes in their investigation,' the juror said. Another juror, Paula Prado, told local news stations her mind changed about the case over the course of the last three weeks. At first, she thought Read was guilty of manslaughter, but her opinion changed as the case progressed. 'As the weeks passed by, I just realized there was too many holes that we couldn't fill. And there's nothing that put her at the scene in our opinion, despite just dropping John O'Keefe off,' Prado told media. Massachusetts State Police said in a statement that it extends its 'sincerest condolences to the loved ones of Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe.' The statement said the the events of the last three years have 'challenged' the department to reviews it actions and improve accountability and oversight. 'Under my direction as colonel, the state police has, and will continue to, improve in these regards. Our focus remains on delivering excellent police services that reflect the value of professionalism and maintain public trust,' Colonel Geoffrey Noble said in the statement. The jurors, state police and Proctor are not the first to speak out about the verdict. Some of the key witnesses in the trial released a joint statement Wednesday in which they called the not guilty ruling a 'devastating miscarriage of justice.' The joint statement was issued by several people including Brian Albert, who owned the home where the party took place, and Jennifer McCabe, Albert's sister-in-law, who was with Read and O'Keefe on the night of O'Keefe's death. Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey said only: 'The jury has spoken.'
