UFL 2025: Best hot mic moments from Defenders-Panthers championship game
The DC Defenders are 2025 UFL champions after taking down the Michigan Panthers by double digits in Saturday's title game, 58-34.
Both teams' offenses were humming, but the Defenders had a historic day, scoring a league-record 58 points to take home the trophy. With all the points, both teams had their share of moments to celebrate and boast about.
Here are the best hot mic moments from the 2025 UFL title game.
"Oh yessir!"
Panthers RB Nate McCrary, who broke free for a 35-yard touchdown run down the left sideline to get Michigan on the board first, celebrated the opening touchdown before he even broke the plane.
"Boom! Boom!"
Defenders interim head coach Shannon Harris was proud of himself after dialing up a touchdown. QB Jordan Ta'amu hit a wide-open Cornell Powell on a corner route in the back of the end zone to give DC its first lead of the game.
"Get off of me bruh!"
Ta'amu told the Panthers' defenders what he had just done to them after shedding a pair of tacklers for a 1-yard touchdown run. To boost the Defenders to victory, Ta'amu showed off his skills on the ground and with his arm.
"Get your sorry a-- off the field!"
After Defenders CB Kiondre Thomas picked off Panthers QB Bryce Perkins, Thomas's teammate Trey Dean rubbed it in further. As Perkins was exiting the field, he got up in his grill and told him to do just that. At that point, the Defenders were up 21 points, and Perkins was making desperate throws, one of which ended in Thomas's hands.
"You the f------ MVP!"
Defenders TE Briley Moore hyped up Ta'amu after his quarterback made one of his best throws of the day — a 73-yard connection with WR Ty Scott. Ta'amu's throw led Scott open and hit him in stride and the receiver did the rest. Ta'amu's deep ball placement and arm strength were at the root of the Defenders' championship run, and Moore acknowledged that with his comments. Ta'amu went on to win UFL Championship Game MVP.

Rising 2026 4-star OT has announced his commitment date
This weekend, Texas A&M is currently hosting 12 prospects in the 2026 and 2027 recruiting class, with a focus on the 2026 cycle, as coach Mike Elko and his staff have already landed 18 commits in the class, including several prospects who are poised to rise in the rankings by the end of the year. Finding talent early has been an impressive feat by the coaching staff, including landing three-star QB/ATH Kaeden Johnson, who is slated to play tight end at the next level, and could be on the same trajectory as Vanderbilt standout TE Eli Stowers, who was once a backup quarterback for the Aggies four year ago. While 2026 five-star edge Bryce Perry-Wright and five-star Tristian Givens, and recent five-star cornerback commit Brandon Arrington are the priority visitors this weekend, three-star offensive tackle Aaron Thomas is one of the aforementioned rising prospects in the cycle. He is also taking his official visit to College Station this weekend. Standing at 6-7 and 300 pounds, the only reason Thomas is considered a three-star prospect is due to his late switch to the offensive line after playing primarily on the D-line until his junior season. Thomas possesses the physical traits to become a starting tackle in the SEC and is a fluid mover in pass protection with great footwork and notable balance. Thomas is a work in progress like most three-star prospects. On Saturday, the Arizona native revealed his commitment date, slated for Wednesday, June 25, as he will choose between Ohio State, Florida State, Texas, Washington, and Texas A&M. Thomas has yet to receive an official prediction to land with any of the five programs listed, but it's safe to say that after official visits to Ohio State, Florida State, and now Texas A&M, all three are considered potential landing spots. According to 247Sports, Thomas is currently positioned as the 50th-ranked offensive tackle and the 8th-ranked prospect in Arizona. Former Kansas City Chiefs players team up to win the 2025 UFL Championship
The 2025 UFL Championship game ended with the D.C. Defenders defeating the Michigan Panthers 58-34. Three standout players who previously wore the Kansas City Chiefs' uniform led the new spring league champions. Quarterback Jordan Ta'amu led D.C. to victory with a fantastic performance. He passed for a league record 390 yards, four touchdown passes, and one rushing score. He earned title game MVP honors like his former Chiefs teammate and quarterback room starter, Patrick Mahomes. Ta'amu is one of several ex-Chiefs players on the championship-winning team, including wide receiver Cornell Powell and cornerback DeAndre Baker. "We're going to put up 80 points for disrespecting our quarterback," Baker said in an ESPN clip before the game about Michigan quarterback Bryce Perkins being named league MVP. "We know who the real MVP is." D.C. scored 58 points, the most ever scored in a UFL game in the league's short history. All three players made their mark on the league this season and could be candidates to return to the NFL with training camp around the corner.

Former Alabama golfer tied atop Travelers Championship leaderboard entering third round
Coming off a rough showing at the U.S. Open, former Alabama Crimson Tide golfer Justin Thomas is bouncing back in a big way this week at the 2025 Travelers Championship. Played from TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, Thomas opened play Thursday with an impressive round of 67 to finish three-under par, and then followed that up Friday with an even better second round of 64 (-6). As a result, Thomas has skyrocketed up the leaderboard, and now enters the weekend sitting at nine-under (-9) for the tournament, and is currently in a three-way tie for first place with defending champion Scottie Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood. A former standout golfer at Alabama, Thomas' last PGA Tour win came back in April of 2025 when he recently won the RBC Heritage. Prior to that, Thomas' last win came back in the 2022 PGA Championship, which was his second-ever major victory. Thomas has also missed the cut at his last two major tournaments, the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. The former Alabama star will begin his third round Saturday at 2:25 p.m. ET.
