Carlos Narváez shines in Red Sox victory
Since joining the Boston Red Sox from the New York Yankees, Carlos Narváez has become a big piece of the puzzle. On June 8, 2025 he hit a 3 run homer in the 6th inning to help Boston beat the Yankees 11-7. The Red Sox won 2 of 3 in the series. 'Narvy is a hard worker, a great teammate, one of the best we ever had over here,'
Judge said, per MLB.com.

In December 2024, the Red Sox got Narváez for a minor league pitcher and some extra funds. This was similar to another trade that brought pitcher Garrett Whitlock to the Boston Red Sox. Narváez stepped up as Boston's main catcher after an injury to Connor Wong.
His strong hitting and defence have made him a fan favourite. Another ex-Yankee, Agustín Ramírez, is also doing well with the Miami Marlins after a trade.
'He had a short time coming up with us for a little bit and the stuff I saw in spring training and stuff I heard about, everybody loved him,'
Judge said about Narváez.
'He outworked everybody in this room.'
These trades show how teams can help each other, and Narváez is proving to be a great addition to the Red Sox.

"What Is The Language Used...": On Rishabh Pant's Dismissal, Gautam Gambhir's Message Singled Out By Ex-India Star
Rishabh Pant played in his own aggressive style at Headingley as he went past MS Dhoni to become the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter with seven Test centuries. Pant, who completed 3,000 runs during this innings of 134 off 178 balls (12x4s; 6x6s), also has 15 fifties in 44 Tests and averages nearly 44. Pant struck a six off the first ball of the 100th over of India's first innings, clearing the fence off Shoaib Bashir to bring up the milestone. It was his first century since September 2024 when he scored 109 against Bangladesh. In 90 Tests, Dhoni had scored 4,876 runs with six tons and 33 fifties at an average of 38.09 and remains the highest run-scorer as an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in Tests. Pant finally fell on 134 as he was trapped in front of the wicket by Josh Tongue. Ex-India star Dinesh Karthik, commmentating on Sky Sports, wondered whether a message from Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir had a role to play in Pant's dismissal. He even hinted that Pant may have been told to change his batting style. "Also very interesting, when a message was sent out to Rishabh Pant, it curbed his style of play. He was just very carefree with his stroke making, and yet the feeling that a message was sent to tell him to calm down doesn't work for certain players, I guess," said Dinesh Karthik on air. "As a coach, it's completely understandable when you want to get a message across to the batter. But over time, you realise, for certain players, how you send that message becomes very important, what is the tone, what is the language used that gets the best out of the batter." Dinesh Karthik also said that Gambhir needs to realise that his ways need to be different with Rishabh Pant to get the best out of him. "Maybe with Rishabh Pant, it needs to be a different way in which you get things done," said Karthik. Meanwhile, former England cricketer Stuart Broad also hailed Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's century at Leeds against England in the first Test, saying that "everything was going on" during his innings from "falling scoops" to "run-out chances". Pant's scored a record-breaking and entertaining seventh Test century that had it all, be it his trademark audacity, him falling on the ground after a shot or the bat slipping out of his hands. Speaking on the 'Match Centre Live', the JioStar expert Broad said that the England crowd is really great at appreciating good cricket and the reception that Pant got was "one of the loudest I have heard for an opposition player scoring a hundred in England". "It was really well appreciated, because it was so entertaining. We didn't know what was coming! There were those falling scoops, full-blooded shots, run-out chances... everything was going on. Everything you want as a Test match fan -- patience, leaving, then, a flair shot, putting the bowlers under pressure. The crowd really appreciated everything Rishabh Pant did. Box office - truly a box office innings," he added.

'Every player speeds': Former NFL player Asante Samuel defends Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders amid speeding controversies
Shedeur Sanders (via Getty Images) Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is in the sights after being cited for two separate speeding infractions in June, calling his maturity and readiness for the NFL into question. But amid the criticism, one-time vocal critic of Deion Sanders and former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel stepped forward to openly defend the young quarterback, saying that Sanders is being targeted simply because of his surname. Shedeur Sanders' off-field problems ignite backlash—and surprising backing The month of June has not been working out well for Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, but not for anything on the gridiron. Shedeur Sanders was cited twice for two different speeding offenses: once for driving 91 mph in a 65 zone on June 5 and again for going 101 mph in a 60 zone just days after. To make things worse, Shedeur Sanders allegedly failed to show up for the first offense court hearing. But amid all the criticism, there was one voice that emerged in defense of Sanders: ex-NFL Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel. On social media, Asante Samuel delivered a simple refutation of the criticism levied at Shedeur Sanders. "Every player speeds," Asante Samuel wrote. "This is normal athlete behavior, but because his last name is Sanders, the haters want to bring as much negative attention as possible. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cardiologists: Losing a Hanging Tummy Comes Down To This 1 Thing Health Wellness Journal Watch More Undo I never seen a community want to tear a player down like we are witnessing." Asante Defends Shedeur Sanders Verbiage/Terminology Dispute Samuel's comments are especially compelling with his own past public feud with Deion Sanders, Shedeur's father and a Pro Football Hall of Famer. The two had a digital falling out in previous years but have since made amends, making Samuel's speaking out on Shedeur's behalf especially significant. Shedeur Sanders himself has already pushed back against the criticism, admitting his transgressions in an interview at tight end David Njoku's charity softball game. "I made some wrong choices personally, and I can own up to them," Sanders was heard saying on video, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "I made some, you know, not great choices… I learned." But they don't define his future. His duty and the surprising populist support of a player such as Asante Samuel show that Sanders does not lack his fans. It is to be seen how he handles adversity outside the game, which may be just as crucial to his long-term NFL career. Noise Proves Nothing: Former Indian Opener Calls Michael Vaughan A Fool For This Reason
India's anticipated five-match Test series against England kicked off on Friday, with the visiting side asserting complete control thanks to a stellar batting display. The Men in Blue got off to a strong start on Day 1, courtesy of openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who forged a solid 91-run partnership. Although Rahul and debutant Sai Sudharsan departed in quick succession during the first session, Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill built an exceptional stand, propelling India past the 200-run mark with only two wickets down. Both Jaiswal and Gill achieved centuries on Day 1. Just a few overs before the second session concluded, Jaiswal brought up his fifth Test century, and his first ever on English soil, off 144 deliveries. After his dismissal for 101, Gill then joined forces with Rishabh Pant to form another impressive partnership, helping India end the day at a commanding 359/3. Gill remained unbeaten on 127, while Pant returned to the pavilion undefeated on 65. Following the day's play, former India cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu didn't hold back, taking a direct jab at ex-England captain Michael Vaughan. Vaughan had confidently predicted a 3-1 series victory for the Three Lions, famously stating, "They (India) arrive again to lose." Sidhu, in turn, called Vaughan a "fool" and sharply criticized the English bowlers for their lackluster performance. 'Fools grow without watering. Michael Vaughan, your predictions. They're always wrong. Look at your bowling attack. They're pedestrians. I mean, three of the Indian batsmen are stepping out and hitting them like spinners. Boss, noise proves nothing. Even a hen, while laying an egg, cackles as if she's laying an asteroid," Sidhu exclaimed in a video shared by Star Sports. India's Collapse India lost 7 wickets for 41 runs in their first innings getting bowled out for 471 after being comfortable at 430/3. From India there were three centurions Yashasvi Jaiswal 101, Shubman Gill 147 and Rishabh Pant 134. Along with the three, Rahul scored a valuable 42 helping the team set the base for a perfect score. Josh Tongue and Ben Stokes were pick of the bowlers from England taking 4 wickets each. Brydon Carse and Shoaib Bashir took a wicket each. England started their innings under a cloud with Bowling conducive conditions for Indian bowlers due to rain that halted the game. Jasprit Bumrah started the innings on a high dismissing Zack Crawley for 4 off 6.
