To catch everyone's attention, this restaurant tagline reads: 'Pakai tangan jer -- Just use your hands)". Interestingly, enough, it seems to the perfect motto for foodies when they visit the Ombak Kitchen restaurant.
The well-liked and well-known restaurant first started in Bangsar and then opened up in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam and then Putrajaya.
It has now moved to nearer to heart of Kuala Lumpur and aim to serenade the city folks with their seafood fare in Setapak (The Palette @ The Ark).

In a previous interview with The Star -- Ombak Kitchen chief executive officer Sharita Loo said that the restaurant's concept aimed at offering families a place to get-together and eating without worrying about the mess they made.
'We want to make each visit fun, relaxing, enjoyable and satisfying for our customers,' said the 41-year-old entrepreneur.
Indeed, just have fun and forget all else as you go through their interesting menus that offer different kind of crabs, prawns, octopus, calamari, mussels and many kind of sea food fare that is found in our region.

By far, the aromatic Cajun-style dishes with a touch of Malay and Indian style setting with fresh seafood in a homely setting is wooing people to Ombak Kitchen in Setapak.
It seems to a favourite in a very cosy setting in the heart of the city.
Their speciality sauces including - Ombak Hot Cajun Sauce, Dark Chilli Chocolate Sauce and Creamy Lemon Butter Sauce - are available to go with the seafood offering that comes in three types -- mild, medium and very spicy.
"I would like to add our sauces are our greatest speciality. It has been prepared by our chefs and the tastes are very unique. All our sauces are done by our chefs and this is what makes a very special offering for our diners," sais Muzamal.
The restaurant's special seafood combo also offers very special treat for 2-3, 3-4 and also family fare groups.
It delivers a superb mixture of all kind of seafood delicacies mixed with many types of vegetable fare with their own special choice of sauces. Just the perfect for a group outing. An irresistible seafood feast that foodies will surely savour.

SMG grabs top media awards
KUALA LUMPUR: Star Media Group (SMG) grabbed two top prizes at the Malaysian Press Institute (MPI)-PETRONAS Malaysian Journalism Awards 2024. Executive editor of content design Tung Eng Hwa, as well as chief designer Muhammad Hafeez Aminuddin and deputy chief designer Hassan Bahri, took home the gold prize in the Best Infographic category, along with a RM10,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate. The Star senior writer Ragananthini Vethasalam clinched first place in the Best News Reporting category, taking home RM10,000 cash prize for her impactful series: A Stillborn Heart Centre, Heart of the Centre Is Not Beating, Operating a Solution, Three OTs Back in Action, Heart Ops Comes to a Halt and No More Shocks for Hospital. The Star also secured both second and third places in the Best Multimedia category, with the winning teams receiving RM3,000 and RM2,000 in cash prizes, respectively, along with trophies. The second-place team comprised senior news editor Abdul Razak Ahmad Idris, chief news editor Mazwin Nik Anis, deputy chief designer Foo Chern Hwan and chief digital designer Nor Shalina Abdul Samad for their What's In It For You in Budget? series. #SHOWBIZ: Zubir Khan dreams big
FAST becoming a household name, talented singer Zubir Ali Khan admits that growing up with a disability was challenging. A nasty accident robbed the 25-year-old of part of his right arm when he was only 4. "Even though doctors initially succeeded in re-attaching it, that part of my arm that was severed eventually went numb and had to be rid of. "The accident took place in my father's bakery in Sepang where my hand accidentally got into an industrial dough-mixer." Reflecting on growing up, Zubir said living without a limb made him feel "abnormal and inadequate" at times. "I did not suffer much from teasing and bullying in school but there were times when people looked at me while whispering to their friends or family. "It did upset me a bit but getting support from my family made me feel much better and positive about my life," said Zubir, the youngest child in his family. "I am always thankful that my parents and elder siblings were always there to support and encourage me. "My family is my backbone. Whenever I felt that I couldn't do something, they encouraged me until I did it. "They kept reminding me that I needed to believe in myself, and thanks to them, I can now do many things." Zubir believes that everyone has a handicap. "When I look at the bigger picture of things, I realise that all of us lack one thing or another, but each of us has a gift from God which we ought to use to the fullest. "In my case, it is singing in languages other than my mother tongue of Malay," he said. Zubir chose singing not to motivate himself but because of his interest. "I really love to sing and perform in front of people, along with prayers from my family, my mum especially, I have come this far and thank God for it." Zubir, who excels in singing Tamil songs and is a self-taught recording artiste, lives by a simple saying that his parents taught him: if God takes something away, He gives you something more in return. Zubir had many Indian and Chinese friends in the oil palm estate in Sepang, where he spent his first three years. "Everyone in the estate spoke Tamil and mingled without racial barriers," he said. Zubir picked up the language and improved his command of it through conversations with friends, and by listening to Tamil music. "I can also speak Urdu, which I learnt from my father. "I am learning Mandarin with a little help from my elder brother, who learnt the language much earlier." Zubir acquired a love of music from his father, who was a part-time musician in the estate. "I was more into music, especially Indian music. I loved watching Tamil and Hindi movies." Zubir is a big fan of Tamil music composer and performer Anirudh Ravichander. "He is the greatest Tamil playback singer, and I grew up enjoying his music. "If I have a chance, I would really love to perform in Chennai, India along with my idol. That would be a dream come true." Zubir uploaded videos of his singing online in 2019, but he did not have high hopes. The response was overwhelming — one of his videos hit 500,000 views and another hit a million. Zubir quickly became a household name as the first Malay singer to perform his own Tamil songs. In 2023, the song 'Yennode Macha', which was composed by Music Kitchen and penned by Zubir, catapulted him to nationwide fame. "This catchy song, which means 'My Friend', became a hit in the Tamil and Malay music markets," Zubir said. If Zubir were not a singer, he might have pursued medicine as it was his mother's wish for him to become a doctor. "I might even have become a chef! This is something that not a lot of people know about. "I can cook, for instance, curry and briyani," he said proudly. The future is set to be interesting for Zubir. "I hope to release an album and single. I am also going to be more active on social media, posting content and doing covers for my fans." As for his advice to fans, Zubir said: "Born special is not a flaw. 'That way, you will love yourself more and reach for the stars."

Star singer Hael Husaini overjoyed as tickets for solo concert almost sold out; celebrates by inviting more 'friends' on stage for big show
Malaysia's top music artiste Hael Husaini's first ever solo concert at Zepp KL only on Aug 8. But tickets has been selling like hot cakes and are expected to be sold out by the end of the month. And currently Malaysia's class act with top hits, Hael, is just so humbled and thankful for the support that he has received from his many fans. According to Hael, this concert is his promise to the fans who have been his backbone since his early appearance in the entertainment world. And he is just so glad that the fans snapped up the 90% of the tickets after going on sale in less than two weeks. "This is an amazing feeling. It is just feels great to be loved by many. I'm so thankful. I thank all my fans. This show is a tribute to them. It will be night to remember and me and my friends will give them an unforgettable night of music," said Hael in an interview with The Star. According to the singer, also known for his extraordinary vocals, creativity beyond the norm and classy style, the "Hael Husaini & Repertoire Concert" promises a night that is not just a concert — but an artistic, fashion and emotional experience that is sure to become a part of the history of Malaysian music. During the launch of the concert, Hael announced that top local singer Dayang Nurfaizah and Nadeera Zaini, will be his special guests together with rising stars of Malaysian music Wany Hasrita and Nabila Razali. It is learnt that fast-rising local boy-band Alpha is also expected to join the fun on the night of Aug 8. "Let's make the show an unforgettable one. I intend to call up another 'special guest' to make the night even more lively. The more the merrier as they say and I just want to put up a show for all to have fun and enjoy the athmosphere throughout the night. I want the show to be an ever lasting memory for the fans." Hael, whose real name Hal Husaini Razmi, 38, is also open to sharing the stage with other artistes, as he always enjoys sharing the stage with performers who are great in jiving up the night. "My guests are also my good friends. They are just as excited about the concert as I am. Like me, they are all just so geared up to make it a night to remember for all the fans," said Hael. "If you follow along, the name of the concert "Hael Husaini & Repertoire" means all my songs and the ones I created for many other singers. "Also, personally for me, it is never a problem sharing the stage with my friends and other artistes. The aim is always try to lift the standards of Malaysian music. As a singer, producer and composer, I always want the best for the fans. For me, they always deserve the best," added Hael. "It is due to them I'm here today and on the night Aug 8, I will share my life journey with them." It has been success after success for Hael over the last two years. His current track "Penjuara" for the movie Ejen Ali is already burning the charts. Last year, his superb rendition "Diam" was a stupendous hit with fans and many observers felt it was the best song for 2024. Of course, the height of it all for Hael was his Hari Raya duet with songstress Nadeera Zaini this year. The duet's "Meriah Lain Macam" for the Raya festival was simply a super boomer, to say it right. Over 1.87 billion hits in media and social streaming platforms and being ranked No.1 in so many charts. Breaking records just about everywhere and also a superb 16 million-plus hits in You Tube alone. And now he aims to cap it all with his first-solo concert on Aug 8 ...
