Iowa football rivalry date featured among top CBS games in 2025 season
College football's foundation is built upon rivalries. It is what makes the sport great, gets fans engaged, and has certain games meaning more than others. For the Iowa Hawkeyes, one rivalry caps off each regular season and seems to do so with fireworks every year.
The Iowa Hawkeyes and Nebraska Cornhuskers square off each year on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, in a game that has morphed into must-see television. It constantly comes down to the final moments to determine the winner of the Heroes Trophy.
With a handful of Iowa's kickoff times announced for their 2025 schedule, their date against Nebraska is set for 11 a.m. CT on Friday, Nov. 28. Set to air on CBS, the matchup has been tabbed as one of the network's top, must-see games of the 2025 season due to its intensity and drama.

Expect a close one on Black Friday
Iowa and Nebraska have delivered thrills nearly every Thanksgiving weekend for the last decade, and the small margins between the two programs has always packed intensity into their respective regular season finales. The interesting twist here is that while nine of the last 11 games in the rivalry have been decided by seven points or less, nine of the last 11 games have also been won by Iowa.

Although Nebraska leads the all-time series by a margin of 30-22-3, the Hawkeyes have been dominant in recent years. Dating back to 2015, Iowa has lost just once to the Cornhuskers, which came in 2022. Since the rivalry resumed in 2011 after a decade-long hiatus, Iowa owns a record of 10-4.
What makes this game even more intriguing is how often it is decided late. Since 2018, Iowa has had four wins that have come by just three points.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Kade Anderson pitched a three-hitter in his second straight dominant start, and LSU moved within a win of its second national championship in three years with a 1-0 victory over Coastal Carolina in Game 1 of the College World Series finals Saturday night. The Chanticleers (56-12) lost for the first time in 27 games and must win Sunday to force a third and deciding game Monday night. LSU (52-15) made Steve Milam's RBI single in the first inning stand up with Anderson getting stronger as the game progressed against a Coastal Carolina team that had won its first three CWS games by a combined 24-9. The lefty, a projected top-three pick in next month's MLB amateur draft, was just as good as he was in LSU's CWS opener against Arkansas last weekend. He has allowed one run and six hits and struck out 17 in 16 innings in Omaha. Against the Chanticleers he struck out 10, but he had to deal with traffic on the basepaths after issuing three of his five walks in the first two innings and hitting two batters. He was up to the challenge. The Chanticleers were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position. Anderson (12-1) walked pinch-hitter Domenico Tozzi with two outs in the ninth, prompting a mound visit from pitching coach Nate Yeskie. Anderson then got Wells Sykes to fly out to end the game. Anderson and catcher Luis Hernandez embraced, and then their teammates mobbed them behind the mound. Anderson worked around two walks in the first inning, got out of the third when Sebastian Alexander was caught stealing third base, and he struck out three in a row after Blagen Pado's double leading off the fourth. Texas A&M to big leagues: Former Aggie pitcher makes MLB debut for Chicago White Sox

The Texas A&M baseball program had its 65th player in program history make their Major League Baseball debut, as a former Aggie pitcher stepped on the mound for the Chicago White Sox on Saturday afternoon. Left-hander Jake Palisch became the first player to represent the program in their big league debut this year, as he pitched the eighth inning in relief for the White Sox in Game 2 of the road series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Palisch's call-up on Friday was part of multiple moves by the franchise to freshen up a depleted pitching rotation. His contributions during the Aggies' College World Series run can't be overstated, as he notched five saves and 73 strikeouts in 60 1/3 innings. Palisch also earned the Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week honor during a weekend series against Arkansas, where the Richardson, Texas, native struck out 13 batters in 9.1 innings pitched. After his lone season pitching for Texas A&M, he signed with the White Sox as an undrafted free agent. In 15 appearances with the MiLB's Birmingham Barons, the lefty struck out 35 batters and recorded a 1.19 ERA in 53 innings of work. All the hard work and dedication to hone his craft paid off in the form of his MLB debut on Saturday in front of 41,488 people in Toronto. "It's certainly intense," Palisch said. "I'd like to say I was feeling it, but I think I may have blacked out a little bit at first. You kind of lose track of everything that's going on, other than just that pitch and working through it." Once Palisch can settle into his role with the franchise and develop over time, he will be rocking and rolling on the mound in the pinstripes in no time. For a franchise that so desperately needs pitchers at the moment, he will likely be inserted to relieve more frequently for the White Sox moving forward.
