See the moment a kangaroo comes within INCHES of causing a disastrous fall at horse race
A kangaroo came within inches of disaster after it bounded into the middle of the race track during Monday's meeting at Warren, New South Wales.
Not many had anticipated the day to begin in such dramatic fashion, with 11 horses lining up to participate in the opening race of the meeting - the 2400m Warren Stayers Benchmark 58.
But approximately 1400m into the race, some eagle-eyed patrons spotted the marsupial hopping its way through the middle of the race course and appeared to be making a beeline out of the grounds, just as the riders and their mounts were turning to come up the straight.
Shannen Llewellyn, aboard Joshua, and Jake Pracey-Holmes, riding Will To Excel, may have had a fright as they battled their way around the bend before heading up the course alongside the fence.
That was when the small roo ducked under the white railings a mere 10 yards in front of them.
The kangaroo bounced its way into the middle of the field, missing both Joshua and Will To Excel.

However it wasn't out of danger just yet, as the small roo came very close to making contact with Mikayla Weir and Wolf Club, charging up on the outside line.
Luckily, the animal hopped its way clear of danger and bounded off the race track, with the jockeys and their horses all remaining calm in the scary moment.
James Ponsonby-trained Will To Excel would go on to claim victory in the race, while Joshua, who is trained by Connie Greig, and Instead placed second and third respectively.
It is not the first time a kangaroo has entered a race track in Australia.
Back in May 2017, punters were left baffled after a roo took the lead during a race meeting at Cessnock, New South Wales.
The roo was seen hopping alongside the riders, before turning on the afterburners to momentarily take the lead.
The roo then bounded its way off the track to safety following the bizarre moment - with riders and their jockeys going on to continue the race safely.
Kangaroos are indigenous to Australia and some species of the marsuipal are able to clear 8m with one jump.

And over the years, several other Aussie sporting events have had to be momentarily postponed or paused because kangaroos have invaded the playing area.
Back in 2018, a large kangaroo caused the postponement of a football match in Canberra after it had invaded the pitch.
Capital Football Club and Belconnen United's women's teams were forced to stop play after the large marsupial hopped onto the field and laid down in front of the goal.
Rather hilariously, as they waited for the roo to leave the playing area, one fan passed the Kangaroo a football, with the marsupial attempting to grab the ball and stop it from going into the net.

MCoBeauty founder Shelley Sullivan reveals the truth behind $1billion beauty brand deal - and how much she profited from the sale
Shelley Sullivan, the woman behind Australia's fastest-growing beauty label MCoBeauty, has spoken candidly about what it meant to sell her business earlier this year. The entrepreneur, whose budget-friendly beauty empire has become a cult favourite among Aussie celebrities, confirmed that while the business was valued at $1billion, the real takeaway for her and her team was far from what the public might assume. 'I wish,' she told Stellar Magazine on Sunday when asked whether she personally pocketed that amount. 'The business could be valued at $1 billion but that's not necessarily a reflection on what the people that are exiting get.' Shelley explained that MCoBeauty's lofty valuation was based on its performance and earning potential rather than a direct windfall for herself. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She emphasised that factors like the brand's rapid growth, earnings trajectory and overall market trends contributed to the billion-dollar figure, not a simple sale price. Despite stepping back from day-to-day operations, the beauty boss hasn't completely walked away. She remains an avid supporter, watching from the sidelines with pride as the brand continues to thrive under new leadership. 'I'm still very much a fan of the brand,' she said. 'Running a business that grew so quickly was a lot… exhilarating and exciting, but at times exhausting.' Shelley admitted that she's now enjoying a well-earned break after years of hustle. The journey to the top wasn't without sacrifices - long hours, relentless pressure and the weight of expectations were all part of the grind. Driven by a clear goal to dominate the beauty market with affordable on-trend products, Shelley and her team worked tirelessly to turn MCoBeauty into the powerhouse it is today. The business' explosive growth made it a major player on supermarket shelves and in the competitive beauty landscape, rivalling premium brands at a fraction of the cost. She credits the brand's success to a razor-sharp focus on innovation and consumer demand, paired with savvy partnerships and bold marketing. But even with the monumental valuation and market domination, Shelley remains grounded and spends time focusing on family and slowing down than big-dollar headlines. Reflecting on her business journey, she concluded: 'We had a vision to create Australia's fastest-growing beauty brand. 'But I don't think myself, the family and the team ever thought beyond our wildest dreams that that's what we would create.'

Simone Holtznagel speaks out about social media trolls and her fears for daughter Gia: 'It's already terrible and brutal'
Simone Holtznagel has shared her concerns about the dangers of social media, revealing she already fears the impact it could have on her young daughter as she grows up in an increasingly digital world. The 31-year-old, who welcomed her daughter Gia last year, admitted she's already thinking about how the online world might affect her little girl when she's older. 'I definitely worry about social media with Gia, not right now but when she goes to school and gets older,' she told The Daily Telegraph on Sunday. 'It is already terrible and brutal so who knows what it is going to be like by then.' Holtznagel, who rose to fame as a contestant on Australia's Next Top Model and has since become a staple in the fashion and influencer space, knows all too well the toxic underbelly of the internet. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She's been the target of online trolls herself and says the experience has made her more vocal when it comes to standing up to bullying. While many suffer in silence, she said she's grateful to have the platform and confidence to call out abusive behaviour - something not everyone feels empowered to do. Though she admits she's developed a thick skin over the years, Holtznagel says the intensity of online criticism continues to shock her. From cruel remarks about her appearance to unsolicited opinions about her parenting, the model has copped it all - and it's made her more protective than ever. The new mum now uses her experiences to advocate for greater kindness online and hopes social media platforms will evolve to offer better protections by the time her daughter reaches school age. Simone previously dated celebrity personal trainer Jono, 34, and they welcomed their daughter before ending things late last year. Jono has since moved on with Love Triangle star Emily Ryder, with the two debuting their relationship on social media. Last month, Jono was spotted enjoying a romantic night out with Emily at the Sydney Opera House. The pair have reportedly been dating for several months and are taking things 'very slowly'. Sources close to the couple say Jono and Emily bonded over their shared passion for fitness and adventure, and are often seen working out together. While the couple have kept their relationship relatively low-key until now, insiders claim they are 'absolutely smitten' and looking forward to spending even more time together. Jono and Simone dated for almost two years after meeting through Sydney's social scene and share Gia, one, together. The trainer, who owns the Acero fitness brand, remains one of Australia's most in-demand celebrity trainers, having worked with the likes of Rebel Wilson, Rita Ora and Michael Clarke.
