The Board of Control for Cricket in India (
BCCI
) has announced the complete domestic cricket schedule for the 2025-26 season, introducing new group structures and changes to tournament formats.
The season will begin with the Duleep Trophy on August 28, 2025, and run until April 3, 2026, when the Senior Women's Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy concludes the calendar.
One of the key updates this year is the revival of zonal selections for the Duleep Trophy and the Senior Women's Challenger Trophy, with six zonal teams competing instead of squads picked by national selectors.

To improve competitiveness in limited overs tournaments, the bottom six teams from last season will now play in a Plate Group across age categories.
The promotion and relegation system has also been tweaked, with only one team moving up or down between the Elite and Plate groups each season.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Senior Women's T20 Trophy will see a Super League stage replacing the traditional knockout phase, while the Vijay Hazare Trophy and other major tournaments will adopt a four Elite Groups and one Plate Group format. For most junior and women's events in the Under-16, Under-19 and Under-23 categories, a five Elite plus one Plate group system will be followed.
The Duleep Trophy
will run from August 28 to September 15 with the final set to be played at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
The Irani Cup
will take place in Nagpur from October 1 to 5.
The Ranji Trophy
will be played in two phases — the first from October 15 to November 19 and the second from January 22 to February 1.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
will begin its league matches on November 26 and conclude on December 8 in cities including Lucknow, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Kolkata, with the knockout stage in Indore from December 12 to 18.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy
league will be held from December 24 to January 8 in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jaipur and Bangalore, while the knockouts will be staged from January 12 to 18 at the Centre of Excellence.

The BCCI has also finalised the groups for all major tournaments. Teams like Vidarbha, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, Karnataka and Delhi have been placed in the Elite categories for the Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy, while teams such as Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh will compete in the Plate Group.
With these changes, the board aims to raise the standard of competition and ensure a balanced opportunity for teams at all levels across the country.

Historic India versus England Mixed Disability T20 Cricket Series starts in England on June 21

Jaipur: History will be made when the first-ever mixed disability T20 series between India and England starts in England on Saturday (June 21) at Taunton, the home of Somerset County Cricket Club. During the landmark seven-match T20Is tour, the teams will also play a match at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground on June 25. Led by Mumbai's Ravindra Gopinath Sante, India's mixed disability team arrived in London for the tour on June 15. The 16-member team, picked by the Differently abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI), has prepared for the series by playing three practice matches against the England Lions Mixed Disability team at the Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club in Exeter. Virendra Singh is the vice-captain of the team, while the team's head coach is former Rajasthan captain Rohit Jhalani. Before travelling to England, the Indian team had a week-long preperatory camp at the Jaipuria Cricket Academy ground in Jaipur. The team comprises six deaf, six physical disability and four intellectual disability players. This format has been approved by the International Cricket Council (ICC). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo "We thank the English Cricket Board and the BCCI for providing us with all the facilities which are given to the international players for this tour. We are playing all our matches on this tour on the first-class ground of England," said Ravi Chauhan, general secretary of the DCCI. "Our preparations have been good. We are looking forward to an exciting series, which will raise the profile of mixed disability cricket," said Abhay Pratap Singh, Jt. Secretary, DCCI. In a first incident, all the seven matches of the series will be streamed live on Sony Liv. "As the BCCI secretary, Jay Shah provided us with complete support from the BCCI. We wish that as the ICC Chair, he would support this format too," Ravi Chauhan said. Before the first match at Taunton, both the teams will hold a two-minute silence and wear black armbands to pay their respects to the victims of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12. The highlight of the tour will, of course, be the third T20I at Lord's on June 25, giving India's mixed disability team the rare honour of competing at the iconic 'Home of Cricket.' The date and the venue both make for a tremendous coincidence- 42 years back, India, led by the legendary Kapil Dev, had clinched the 1983 World Cup on June 25 at Lord's in 1983. June 25 is incidentally celebrated as the 'World Mixed Disability Day.' The other standout fixture of the tour is scheduled for July 1 in Bristol, where the Indian mixed disability team will play their English counterparts, followed by a T201 between the women's teams of India and England in a double-header. The Bristol match will be shown live on Sky Sports, stated Ravikant Chauhan, general secretary, Differently Abled Cricket Council Of India (DCCI) BCCI Member, Differently Abled Cricket Committee.

IPL winner Jitesh set to leave Vidarbha, move base to Baroda

1 2 3 4 Nagpur: After playing a key role in RCB's IPL triumph a month back, Jitesh Sharma is set to leave Vidarbha. Sources said that the big-hitting wicketkeeper-batter, who justified his Rs11 crore price tag with a string of stellar shows, will play for Baroda in the next domestic season. A source informed that Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) on Friday received a request for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Jitesh. A player has to obtain a NOC from his home association for shifting base to a new team. Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) officials confirmed that Jitesh will be joining their team in the next season. After making his First Class debut for Vidarbha in October 2015, Jitesh got just 18 matches in the longer format in the last one decade. Many feel he is a much better player than the number of First Class matches he got to play for Vidarbha. "Same was the case with his leadership quality. Vidarbha never fully utilised his captaincy skills. It was only after his exploits in the IPL, first for Kings Punjab and RCB in the last edition, that he has finally managed to command respect — which he always deserved — within the Vidarbha setup," a source said. Punjab Kings were the first to appoint Jitesh as vice captain and then captain in 2024 IPL. Before that Jitesh never got any leadership role in Vidarbha's senior cricket. Post the IPL, Jitesh led Vidarbha in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and took the team to quarterfinal stage. In Vidarbha's next tournament, Vijay Hazare Trophy, he played under Karun Nair. SARWATE TO PLAY FOR CHHATTISGARH Former Vidarbha allrounder Aditya Sarwate, who played for Kerala last season, confirmed that he will move to Chhattisgarh for the upcoming season. The left-arm spinner and solid lower-order batter said that due to family commitments he wanted to move to a team based near Nagpur. "My move to Chhattisgarh has been finalised. I look forward to the new challenge after a fruitful outing with Kerala," Sarawate told TOI. Sarwate's allround performance had propelled Vidarbha to twin Ranji Trophy titles in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Last year, Sarwate was one of the standout performers for Kerala as they made it to their first Ranji Trophy final. The title clash, played at Nagpur, saw Vidarbha clinch their third Ranji Trophy on the basis of first innings lead. Sarwate had snapped 40 wickets in his first and only season for Kerala.

Death of horses at Jabalpur farm: MP HC seeks detailed report from collector by Jun 25

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf directed the district collector to file a report with regard to the physical condition of each of the horses along with a report on the environment in which they have been kept as well as availability of food, water and shelter. Three horses had died at the farm in the last few days, while eight had died in May reportedly due to heat. Jabalpur, Jun 20 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday directed the Jabalpur district collector to file a report by June 25 on the condition of horses kept in a farm in Raipura village. The collector shall also file a status report with regard to the horses that have died and the reasons for their death, the bench said. The court issued the direction while hearing of a petition filed by Jabalpur-based animal activist Simran Issar alleging that one Sachin Tiwari brought 49 horses from HithaNet India Private Limited in Telangana capital Hyderabad and had kept them without documents pertaining to ownership, vaccination, medical history etc. 'Sachin Tiwari has been made respondent in the petition for illegally transporting horses from Hyderabad to Jabalpur in violation of provisions of Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act. Sachin Tiwari is associated with Suresh Paladugu of HithaNet India Private Limited,' the petitioner's counsel Umesh Tripathi told PTI. HithaNet India Private Limited started an online horse racing betting venture exclusively for Philippines that it ran from Hyderabad Race Club under the title of UnThose Matchup Racing in October 2023, Tripathi said. Jabalpur collector Deepak Saxena had told reporters on June 19 that a committee had been formed under the chairmanship of the district panchayat chief executive officer to find out whether proper care was being taken of horses.
