New smartphone chipset lowers the price for flagship features and functionality
The world of smartphone chipsets isn't as big as that of phones because there are only two major players that really matter: MediaTek and Qualcomm. Both companies are trying to allure device makers into using their chipsets to power their products.MediaTek's portfolio is much bigger than Qualcomm's, but that doesn't mean the former's products are always better than the latter. Still, having a much larger lineup of chipsets offers phone makers a wider range of options when it comes to the core part of their devices. Today, MediaTek announced a brand-new chipset that promises to offer a wider range of flagship features and functionality, including AI, connectivity, and gaming for different types of consumers. The new Dimensity 9400e is built on TSMC's third-generation 4nm process, and features an All Big Core CPU architecture, including four Cortex-X4 super cores with clock speeds of up to 3.4 GHz and four Cortex-A720 big cores with clock speeds of 2.0 GHz.In comparison, the vanilla Dimensity 9400 features MediaTek's second-generation All Big Core design with an Arm Cortex-X925 CPU clocked at 3.62 GHz, three Arm Cortex-X4 running at 3.3 GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz. The upgraded Dimensity 9400+ has a slightly more powerful configuration than the other two mentioned above: 1x Cortex-X920 CPU at 3.73 GHz, 3x Cortex-X4 CPUs at 3.30 GHz, and 4x Cortex-A720 at 2.4 GHz.Judging by the specs announced, the Dimensity 9400e is the third most powerful smartphone chipset released by MediaTek, which probably makes it the cheapest too.

Also, the chipset supports hardware-level mobile ray tracing technology, which should deliver great performance and console-level global illumination effects to enhance gaming immersion.Key features of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e mobile chipset include: Bluetooth connection range between phones up to 5km within line of sight
Sub-6GHz four-carrier aggregation (4CC-CA) with theoretical peak network download speeds of up to 7Gbps
Wi-Fi 7 tri-band concurrency (5 data streams) with theoretical peak transmission speeds of up to 7.3Gbps
MediaTek 5G UltraSave 3.0 power-saving technology
Multi-mode dual-SIM dual-active functionality MediaTek Dimensity 9400e supports the company's Frame Rate Converter (MFRC 2.0+), which can reduce power consumption by up to 40 percent when enabled. It also supports MediaTek NeuroPilot SDK, allowing generative AI apps and services to provide fast, personalized, and secure experiences. The new chipset supports global mainstream large language models (LLMs) and small language models, enabling on-device operation of DeepSeek-R1-Distill, as well as Gemini Nano with Multimodality, LLaVA-1.5 7B, and more.Last but not least, Dimensity 9400e is equipped with a flagship 18-bit RAW ISP and high-dynamic noise reduction for recording with three mics.
According to MediaTek, the first smartphone powered by its newly unveiled Dimensity 9400e mobile chipset are expected to arrive as early as this month.

Samsung faces a deadline to choose which processor will power the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+
There is a lot of pressure on Samsung to design a more than merely capable Exynos 2600 application processor (AP). After all, the company is looking to deploy a homegrown Exynos SoC inside next year's Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 + flagship models in the vast majority of markets. Due to yield issues at Samsung Foundry, during the last two years Samsung had to dig deep into its pockets and pay more to equip all of its flagship series phones with the latest Snapdragon chipsets instead of using its own Exynos APs. Samsung had to pay $400 million to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite AP across the entire Galaxy S25 lineup. | Image credit-Qualcomm The reason that yield is so important is that the figure is a percentage showing how many usable dies have been created against the maximum number that can be diced from a silicon wafer. Samsung Foundry was rumored to have a 30% yield for production using the same process node earmarked for the Exynos 2500. A low yield increases the number of defective dies and decreases the number of usable ones. As a result, not only does the price for working chips rise, at a yield of 30% it was possible that Samsung would not be able to build enough chips to cover the amount it needed. Samsung reportedly started manufacturing a prototype of the Exynos 2600 AP and the results of the chipset's first Geekbench run through was impressive with a single-core score of 2400 and a multi-core tally of 10200. The impressive part was that the multi-core score topped that of the A18 Pro. We should point out that the latter chipset, used to power the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, is built by TSMC using its second-generation 3nm node; the Exynos 2600 is produced using Samsung Foundry's 2nm node which uses Gate-All-Around (GAA) transistors that reduce current leaks and improve the drive current producing improved performance and energy efficiency. Also, to make this a fair comparison, the Exynos 2600 AP's benchmark scores should be compared with those of the yet to be released A19 Pro. That chipset will be built by TSMC using its third-generation 3nm process node and will debut later this year on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Another point to consider is that tweet from tipster @OreXda doesn't mention the efficiency of the Exynos 2600. As a result, it is a possibility that in order to achieve the high mjlti-core benchmark results, the chipset had to use an unrealistic amount of power, certainly more than the component will be fed if used to drive the Galaxy S26 line when the phones are released during Q1 next year. An interesting change in the configuration of the Exynos 2600 AP was mentioned by @OreXda. Originally designed with 10 cores (giving it the "decacore" designation), the tipster says that the Exynos 2600 will feature two Cortex Prime "X" CPU cores along with six Cortex-A cores. That would make the Exynos 2600 an octa-core AP. If Samsung Foundry doesn't improve its yield, Samsung would have to consider using the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy to power all of the models in the flagship series with Qualcomm's flagship processor. The phones won't be released until next January or February but because of lead times, Samsung will have to decide by the end of this year whether yields are sufficient (60%-70% and higher is required) to allow Samsung Foundry to manufacture enough Exynos 2600 SoCs to power the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 + units in all markets other than the U.S., China, and Canada. In those countries, the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 + will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy AP. The top-of-the-line Galaxy S26 Ultra will sport the Qualcomm SoC in all markets. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! Redmi K Pad disassembled and reviewed ahead of launch
Xiaomi is preparing to launch two 'Redmi K' flagships in China – the Redmi K80 Ultra and the Redmi K Pad. The company is trickling out official details for both, but we already saw WekiHome disassemble and review the smartphone. Now they have done the same with the mini tablet. The Redmi K Pad will have an 8.8' IPS LCD, which supports Dolby Vision, judging by the label on the side (and Dolby Atmos for the speakers). The screen has 3,008 x 1,880px resolution (16:10), 165Hz refresh rate and DC dimming. When tested, the display achieved a brightness of 566 nits and was able to go up to 610 nits in high brightness mode. Redmi K Pad: 8.8' 165Hz IPS LCD with Dolby Vision The tablet has a unibody metal design with a sandblasted finish. It tips the scales at 336g and measures 6.46mm thick – this tablet is all about performance in a highly portable form factor. The Redmi K Pad weighs 336g and is 6.46mm thick Speaking of, the tablet is powered by the Dimensity 9400+, plus LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. In testing, the chipset showed impressive performance and cooling proved better than on many tablets, even ones larger than the K Pad. Xiaomi used a large 12,050mm² vapor chamber to wick heat away from the chipset and dump it into the metal frame. Interestingly, the vapor chamber is made of an aluminum alloy instead of the traditional copper to save weight. There's some foam padding that will cushion the internals in case of a fall. Redmi K Pad (D9400+) sized up against the RedMagic Tablet 3 Pro (SD 8 Elite) (image source) The motherboard is placed along the centerline of the tablet, which helps distribute heat more evenly. The battery is split into two cells on either side and there are also speakers (with Atmos) next to each cell. The two battery cells have a combined capacity of 7,500mAh – one is 3,505mAh (13.78Wh) and the other is a bit bigger at 3,995mAh (15.71Wh). A 67W charger is included in the box, though the tablet only pulled 55W at maximum and needed 61 minutes for a 1% to 100% charge. Bypass charging is supported. Redmi K Pad's internals The USB-C port is located on the motherboard and is wired for USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds (5Gbps). It supports DisplayPort. There are two cameras on board the tablet – a 13MP module on the back (OV13B 1/3.06') and an 8MP one on the front (OV08F, 1/4'). There is no fingerprint reader on board. Here is the full disassembly and review video of the Redmi K Pad from WekiHome: Source

Of course, if you care more about things like battery life, camera versatility, and S Pen convenience than a super-slim profile, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is clearly a smarter choice at a pretty hard-to-beat discount of its own in an identical storage variant. Incredibly enough, the Motorola Razr Plus (2025) foldable is currently more affordable than both the S25 Ultra and S25 Edge (and even the S25 Plus and "vanilla" Galaxy S25), at least in a love-it-or-hate-it "Hot Pink" colorway that's somehow marked down by a whopping $300 from a $999.99 list price with no special requirements. $250 off (45%) 5G, Unlocked, 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM, 6.6-Inch P-OLED Display with 2400 x 1080 Pixel Resolution and 144Hz Refresh Rate Technology, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 Processor, 50 + 13MP Dual Rear-Facing Camera System, 32MP Front-Facing Camera, 5,000mAh Battery with 68W Wired and 15W Wireless Charging Support, Vegan Leather Finish, Midnight Blue Color Buy at BestBuy $200 off (29%) 5G, Unlocked, 256GB Storage, 8GB RAM, MediaTek Dimensity 7300X Processor, 6.9-Inch Foldable LTPO AMOLED Display with 2640 x 1080 Pixel Resolution and 144Hz Refresh Rate Technology, 3.6-Inch AMOLED External Screen with 1066 x 1056 Pixel Resolution, 50 + 13MP Dual Rear-Facing Camera System, 32MP Single Selfie Snapper, 4,200mAh Battery with 30W Charging Capabilities, Two Color Options Buy at BestBuy 5G, Unlocked, 256GB Storage, 12GB RAM, 6.78-Inch AMOLED Display with 2780 x 1264 Pixel Resolution, 120Hz Refresh Rate Technology, and Up to 4500 Nits of Peak Brightness, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Processor, 50 + 50 + 8MP Triple Rear-Facing Camera System, 16MP Front-Facing Camera, 6,000mAh Battery, 80W Charging Support, Nebula Noir and Astral Trail Color Options, Free $100 Gift Card Included Buy at BestBuy $250 off (28%) 5G, Unlocked, 512GB Storage, 16GB RAM, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Processor, 6.82-Inch LTPO AMOLED Display with 3168 x 1440 Pixel Resolution, 120Hz Refresh Rate Technology, and 4500 Nits Peak Brightness, 50 + 64 + 48MP Triple Rear-Facing Camera System, 32MP Selfie Shooter, 5,400mAh Battery with 80W Wired and 50W Wireless Charging Capabilities, Flowy Emerald Color Buy at BestBuy $300 off (30%) 5G, Unlocked, 256GB Storage, 12GB RAM, Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Processor, 6.9-Inch Main Foldable LTPO AMOLED Display with 2640 x 1080 Pixel Resolution and 165Hz Refresh Rate Technology, 4-Inch Secondary LTPO AMOLED Screen with 1272 x 1080 Pixel Resolution and 165Hz Refresh Rate Support, 50 + 50MP Dual Rear-Facing Camera System, 32MP Front-Facing Camera, 4,000mAh Battery with 45W Charging Capabilities, Vegan Leather Finish, Spring Green and Midnight Blue Color Options Buy at BestBuy 5G, Unlocked, 128GB Storage, 16GB RAM, Android 14, Google Tensor G4 Processor, 6.8-Inch LTPO OLED Display with 2992 x 1344 Pixel Resolution and 120Hz Refresh Rate Technology, 50 + 48 +48MP Triple Rear-Facing Camera System, 42MP Front-Facing Camera, Gemini Integration, 5,060mAh Battery, Obsidian Color Buy at Amazon 5G, Unlocked, 512GB Storage, 7-Inch Foldable LTPO AMOLED Display with 2912 x 1224 Pixel Resolution and 165Hz Refresh Rate Technology, 4-Inch Secondary LTPO AMOLED Panel with 1272 x 1080 Pixel Resolution and 165Hz Refresh Rate Capabilities, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Processor, 16GB RAM, Android 15, 50 + 50MP Dual Rear-Facing Camera System, 50MP Single Front-Facing Camera, Dual Stereo Speakers with Dolby Atmos Technology, 4,700mAh Battery, 68W Wired Charging, 30W Wireless Charging, Four Color Options Buy at Amazon Obviously, the aforementioned Razr Plus (2025) is not the best foldable money can buy in 2025, but the Razr Ultra (2025) might be just that, both before and after Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 come out in a few weeks. Motorola's ultra-high-end flip phone is sold by Amazon at an unrivaled discount in a 512GB storage configuration, but naturally, that's not enough to make the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Elite powerhouse truly affordable. And that's where the Motorola Razr (2024) and Razr Plus (2024) come in at $200 and $300 off their regular prices respectively, while the non-foldable mid-range Motorola Edge (2024) is ideal for the most cash-strapped Android users around at only $299.99 at Best Buy with no strings attached. Not a fan of Motorola devices... or Samsung Galaxy handsets? Then you might want to consider last year's OnePlus 12 super-flagship, this year's budget-friendly OnePlus 13R powerhouse, and Google's jumbo-sized Pixel 9 Pro XL at their latest discounts. I'm not going to lie, the latter phone has been available at even lower prices a few times before. But the OnePlus 13R is pretty difficult to turn down with a $100 Best Buy gift card bundled in, and the OnePlus 12 could be discontinued in the near future, warranting a little attention today at $650 instead of $900 with a generous 16GB RAM count and 512 gigs of internal storage space. $40 off (20%) Wi-Fi Only, 128GB Storage, 4GB RAM, 10.1-Inch IPS Screen with 1920 x 1200 Pixel Resolution, Android 14, Two Guaranteed OS Updates, MediaTek Helio G85 Processor, 5,100mAh Battery, 15W Charging Support, 8MP Rear-Facing Camera, 5MP Front-Facing Camera, All-Metal Design, Polar Blue Color Buy at Lenovo $93 off (24%) Wi-Fi Only, 128GB Storage, 8GB RAM, 12.7-Inch LCD Screen with 2944 x 1840 Pixel Resolution and 144Hz Refresh Rate Technology, Android 14, MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Processor, 10,200mAh Battery, 45W Charging Support, Quad JBL Speakers with Dolby Atmos, 13MP Rear-Facing Camera, 8MP Front-Facing Camera, Luna Grey Color, Lenovo Tab Pen Plus Included, TABLETSAVE E-Coupon Required Buy at Lenovo Wi-Fi Only, 128GB Storage, 8GB RAM, 10.9-Inch IPS LCD Screen with 2304 x 1440 Pixel Resolution and 90Hz Refresh Rate Technology, Samsung Exynos 1580 Processor, Android 15 with One UI 7, Galaxy AI, IP68 Water and Dust Resistance, 8,000mAh Battery, 45W Charging, 13MP Rear-Facing Camera, 12MP Front-Facing Camera, microSD Card Slot, Dual Speakers with AKG Technology, Three Color Options, S Pen Included, US Version, Two-Year Manufacturer Warranty Buy at Amazon $100 off (18%) 256GB Storage, 12GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Processor, 8.8-Inch LTPS Display with 2560 x 1600 Pixel Resolution and 165Hz Refresh Rate Technology, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, Android 14, 6,550mAh Battery, 65W Charging, Two Superlinear Speakers with Stereo Audio and Dual X-Axis Haptics, 13 + 2MP Dual Rear-Facing Camera System, 8MP Front-Facing Camera, ColdFront Vapor Chamber Tech, Eclipse Black Color, Folio Case and Rapid Charge Adapter Included Buy at Lenovo 128GB Storage, Wi-Fi Only, Apple M3 Processor, Liquid Retina IPS LCD Screen with 2732 x 2048 Pixel Resolution, 12MP Rear-Facing Camera, 12MP Front-Facing Camera, Top-Mounted Fingerprint Scanner, All-Day Battery Life, Landscape Stereo Speakers, Two Microphones, USB Type-C Port, Space Gray Color Buy at Amazon Depending on your budget, it shouldn't be too hard to choose between the dirt-cheap Lenovo Tab (now cheaper than ever), the slightly costlier and significantly higher-end Lenovo Idea Tab Pro with a massive 12.7-inch screen in tow and a bundled stylus, and the even pricier but still far from prohibitive hardcore gamer-friendly Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 with a compact 8.8-inch display and ultra-advanced cooling technology. But what if you don't like Lenovo gear... for whatever reason (like sub-par long-term software support)? Well, that's what Samsung's brand-new Galaxy Tab S10 FE mid-ranger is for (with a built-in pen of its own), not to mention the super-powerful and almost shockingly affordable 13-inch iPad Air (2025) with an Apple M3 processor under its hood. Now that makes your choice a lot tougher, although at the end of the day, it still all comes down to how much you're willing to pay for your next tablet. 40mm, GPS, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wear OS, 1.2-Inch Super AMOLED Display with 396 x 396 Pixel Resolution, Sapphire Crystal Glass, 5 ATM Water Resistance, ECG, Heart Rate Monitor, Fall Detection, Sleep Coaching, Body Composition, Three Color Options, US Version, 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty Included Buy at Amazon GPS, Bluetooth, Aluminum Case, 1.3-Inch AMOLED Display with 432 x 432 Pixel Resolution, Sapphire Crystal, AI Smartwatch with Energy Score, Heart Rate Monitor, Sleep Tracking, Wear OS, 300mAh Battery, 2GB RAM, 16GB Storage, Green and Cream Colors, US Version, 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty Included Buy at Amazon I'm sorry, iPhone users, I simply haven't been able to find any decent Apple Watch offers to recommend this week. Not with the Android-exclusive 4G LTE-enabled Galaxy Watch FE and GPS-only Galaxy Watch 7 available at the same phenomenal price after hefty new discounts of $50 and $100 respectively. So which of the two impressively affordable Samsung smartwatches on sale at special prices right now should Android smartphone owners choose? Frankly, I'd get both of them, keep one for myself, and gift the other to my better half next Christmas. I know it's only summer, but you can never be too prepared, right? True Wireless Earbuds with Android and iOS Compatibility, Custom Acoustic Architecture for Powerful Sound with Full Range and Clarity, Dual-Layer Drivers for Minimal Distortion, Class 1 Bluetooth Connectivity, Up to 18 Hours of Battery Life, Fast Fuel Support, Carrying Case Included, Three Color Options Buy at Amazon True Wireless Earbuds with USB-C Charging Case, Personalized Spatial Audio with Dynamic Head Tracking, Apple H2 Chip, Voice Isolation, Adaptive EQ, Bluetooth 5.3, Automatic Switching, IP54 Water and Dust Resistance, Up to 5 Hours of Listening Time, Up to 30 Hours of Total Battery Life Buy at Amazon True Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency Mode, IPX4 Water Resistance, Android and iOS Compatibility, Up to 8 Hours of Uninterrupted Listening Time, 24 Hours Combined Battery Life with Charging Case, Multiple Color Options Buy at Amazon True Wireless Earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation, Apple H2 Chip, Adaptive Transparency, Personalized Spatial Audio, USB-C MagSafe Charging Case, Up to 30 Hours of Battery Life, IPX4 Water Resistance, White Buy at Amazon True Wireless Earbuds with Secure Fit Earhooks, Active Noise Cancellation, Personalized Spatial Audio with Dynamic Head Tracking, Transparency Mode, Adaptive EQ, Apple H2 Chip, Heart Rate Monitoring for Workouts, IPX4 Water Resistance, Up to 10 Hours of Uninterrupted Listening Time, Up to 45 Hours of Total Battery Life with Wireless Charging Case, Android and iOS Compatibility, Four Color Options Buy at Amazon Yes, you're technically looking at five Apple-made products here, but that doesn't make this list any less diverse and generous than the above collection of top smartphone and tablet deals available this week. That's because the Beats Solo Buds, Studio Buds, and Powerbeats Pro 2 are all compatible with both Android handsets and iPhones, and each model has a slightly different target audience. Then you've got the non-noise-cancelling AirPods 4 and the high-end AirPods Pro 2, which might just be the best wireless earbuds an iPhone user can buy at the time of this writing. Especially at those huge new discounts. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! We may earn a commission if you make a purchase This offer is not available in your area.
