Saudi Arabia Observes World Migratory Bird Day
Saudi Arabia celebrated on Saturday the World Migratory Bird Day, stressing the significance of safeguarding migratory birds and their habitats, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Themed 'Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities,' the 2025 celebration focused on the vitality of integrating migratory birds into urban planning. Therefore, it seeks to decrease environmental threats and challenges they encounter in urban areas.
Represented by the National Center for Wildlife (NCW), the Kingdom has been making bold strides to protect wildlife, including migratory birds, which form an essential part of biodiversity.
As part of its efforts to preserve wildlife, the Kingdom has regulated hunting, enforced strict laws in line with approved environmental regulations, and coordinated with relevant authorities to ensure the sustainability of biodiversity.
Through the launch of the Fitri platform, the Kingdom has also facilitated hunting season procedures.
Meanwhile, NCW conducts field surveys, monitors migration routes, determines the status of each species, studies biodiversity hotspots and wetlands, and updates the national bird list.
Furthermore, it boosts environmental monitoring and research programs across coastal and wilderness regions.
As one of the most important components of biodiversity, migratory birds are a crucial indicator of environmental health.
Accordingly, it has become necessary to abide by regulations and legislation and avoid any human activities that may lead to the destruction of natural environments.

Saudi Arabia Welcomes 116 mln Visitors in 2024
Saudi Arabia welcomed nearly 116 million domestic and inbound tourists in 2024, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom's tourism sector, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The ministry also released its 2024 Annual Statistical Report on Saudi Arabia's tourism sector to highlight key indicators of tourism activity and review the sector's growth during the year. Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb stated that the report focuses on the efforts of the ministry and all stakeholders in Saudi Arabia's tourism ecosystem. According to the report, total tourism spending for domestic and inbound travel recorded approximately SAR284 billion, marking an 11% year-over-year growth. Furthermore, the Kingdom reached its highest-ever number of inbound tourists, with almost 30 million visitors in 2024, marking an 8% rise compared to 2023. Meanwhile, inbound tourism spending in 2024 surged to SAR168.5 billion, up 19% from the previous year. The Ministry of Tourism noted that this remarkable success was mainly driven by the efforts and support of the Saudi leadership in line with the Saudi Vision 2030. As for domestic tourism, the ministry reported noticeable growth with 86.2 million domestic tourists in 2024, representing a 5% increase compared to 2023. The domestic tourism spending also reached SAR115.3 billion in 2024. Exhibitions at Prophet's Mosque bring Islamic heritage to life
MADINAH: The corridors and courtyards of the Prophet's Mosque feature 'unique sites and exhibitions that enrich the visitor experience, offering historical and cultural insights that reflect Islamic heritage and Madinah's hospitality,' according to an article published by the Saudi Press Agency on Saturday. A key attraction is the Architectural Evolution of the Prophet's Mosque exhibition, located on the southern courtyard opposite exits 308 and 309, which uses interactive displays to highlight the mosque's architectural development. It is open daily from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Opposite exits 306 and 307 is the International Exhibition of the Prophet's Biography. Open from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily, it offers 'a contemporary presentation of Prophet Muhammad's life and teachings.' The Rare Manuscripts exhibition in annex 204 of the southern courtyards, which is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., showcases 'historical manuscripts, documents, and inscriptions that trace the evolution of Islamic writing.' The mosque's library, at gate 10 on the western side, is open 24 hours a day and includes sections on manuscripts, rare books, audio archives, and art collections. Near Uthman Gate, the Manuscripts and Rare Books Department serves researchers and enthusiasts. It houses more than 4,000 original manuscripts, nearly 60,000 digital copies, 4,600 photocopies, and 450 different editions of the Qur'an. It operates in two shifts: 8 a.m.–noon and 4–8 p.m. 'Together, these exhibitions and centers enhance the cultural and educational value of visiting the Prophet's Mosque, offering pilgrims a more enriching experience,' the SPA stated.

Saudi Arabia Broadens Inspection Tours in Summer Tourist Destinations
In coincidence with Saudi Summer season, the Ministry of Tourism has intensified its inspection efforts on various destination across the Kingdom, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Such initiatives and efforts seek basically to ensure that hospitality facilities maintain their necessary licenses and align with approved quality standards. The tours covered multiple regions and cities over the past two months such as Aseer, Al-Baha, Taif, and Jeddah. Moreover, the inspection teams conducted over 2,800 visits to summer destinations in order to assess the quality of services and necessary licenses. The ministry's teams also inspected the availability of safety requirements and cleanliness levels. Importantly, the ministry underscored the significance of providing high-quality services and abiding by the ministry's approved requirements. It also warned that individuals or entities violating the requirements shall face various penalties such as a fine of up to one million riyals, the closure of the facility, or both. The ministry has also held several meetings with investors and operators of hospitality facilities in summer tourist destinations to listen to their suggestions and inquiries. The authorities urged tourists and visitors to report any concerns regarding hospitality services by contacting the Unified Tourism Center at (930) to take necessary actions and ensure seamless experiences.
