ALBAWABA - As tensions rise in the area, Iran has made it clear that it is ready to close the crucial Strait of Hormuz. On Sunday, a member of Iran's National Security Committee said that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is ready to stop the important route if necessary. The move is said to have been accepted by the Iranian government, but the Supreme National Security Council has yet to give its official approval. The news comes after the United States attacked Iran's nuclear facilities with missiles. President Donald Trump stated that American fighter jets hit important sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. This is the first time that the U.S. has directly joined the war between Israel and Iran.In response to Iran's threat, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said that stopping ships from using the Strait of Hormuz would be a "suicidal" move for Tehran. Besides that, he said that the U.S. had gotten notes from Iranian leaders after the American strikes.
According to Iranian media, talks are happening in parliament about possibly leaving the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). This makes nuclear fears even higher. Furthermore, top IRGC leaders have made it clear that closing the strait is still a real possibility.
BREAKING: Iranian parliament has just voted to close the Strait of Hormuz. - 20% of global oil passes through the StraitHERE's what to expect if successful:- Oil Prices could spike by 30–50%+ almost immediately- Global Inflation likely Rises

Almost a third of the world's oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, making it an important route for energy sources around the world. Any problems with this chapter would have big effects on the economy and on world politics.
Israeli started a war operation against Iran on June 13, going after nuclear sites, missile camps, and top leaders. Since then, tensions have continued to rise. In response, Iran attacked towns like Tel Aviv and Haifa with nuclear missiles, which did a lot of damage and hurt a lot of people.

Trump: US had 'spectacular military success' in Iran, stopped nuclear threat

President Donald Trump on Sunday praised what he called a 'spectacular military success' in Iran, claiming US forces prevented the country from obtaining a nuclear weapon. In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said, 'We had a spectacular military success yesterday, taking the 'bomb' right out of their hands (and they would use it if they could!).' He described the mission as a 'total and complete WIN' and thanked the US military for their efforts: 'Thank you to our incredible military for the AMAZING job they did last night. It was really SPECIAL!!!' Trump claimed the strike neutralized a direct nuclear threat posed by Iran. 'Iran has killed and maimed thousands of Americans, and even took over the American Embassy in Tehran under the Carter Administration,' he wrote, adding, 'They would use [a bomb] if they could.' Earlier on Sunday, US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces carried out what he described as a "very successful attack" on three Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. In a post on his Truth Social platform, President Trump revealed that a 'full payload of BOMBS' had been dropped on the underground Fordo site, one of Iran's most fortified nuclear facilities. 'All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors,' Trump wrote, calling the operation a 'historic' moment for the United States, 'Israel,' and the world. He later declared in a televised address from the White House that 'IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR.' The strikes came just two days after Trump had signaled a possible two-week window for diplomacy. His sudden change in course has further destabilized the region and raised fears of a broader conflict in the Gulf.

Was Khamenei eliminated? Secret Trump-Iran talks collapse after his disappearance

ALBAWABA - According to the U.S. news site Axios, a secret diplomacy route between former President Donald Trump and Iranian officials shut down this week when Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei became unavailable. This led to rumors that Khamenei might have been killed or disappeared. At the same time that Israel's war on Iran was getting worse, three U.S. officials and a source familiar with the situation said that Trump and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were quietly trying to set up a high-level meeting between American and Iranian leaders in Istanbul. According to the story from Axios, Trump wanted to make a straight agreement with Tehran so badly that he offered to go to the meeting himself if it would help stop the military from escalation and seal the nuclear deal. In the beginning, Erdoğan called Trump on Monday, while the former president was in Canada for the G7 meeting. During the call, Erdoğan suggested that the next day there be a secret foreign meeting in Istanbul. Trump agreed, and he was ready to send Vice President J.D. Vance and special envoy Steve Witkoff. If needed, he was even willing to go himself to meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The story says that Erdoğan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan told Pezeshkian and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi about the idea. But the Iranian group said they couldn't get in touch with Khamenei because he was supposedly hiding because he was afraid of an Israeli plot to kill him. So, the talks that were supposed to happen were called off. Is Khamenei no longer alive? The sudden absence of Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader, at one of the most important times in recent years in world politics has brought up important questions. Was Khamenei killed in a secret operation? Did he hide and is he still alive? Even though there is no proof that he is dead, U.S. and Turkish sources say that he stopped communicating with his close friends and family in the days after the U.S. and Israeli strikes. Officials in Iran are still mum, which adds to the rumors. His official position is still unknown for now, but his disappearance has already broken down important diplomacy lines and made people more afraid of a bigger war.

US Failure: 12 Bombs couldn't destroy Iran's nuclear facility

ALBAWABA — According to the New York Times, the recent U.S. bombing on Iran's heavily protected Fordow nuclear plant did not completely destroy the site, even though 12 bunker-busting bombs were dropped on it. Also Read Did Iran manage to move its nuclear facility before the US strike? American and Israeli sources were quoted in the story as saying that Iran seems to have moved enriched uranium and secret equipment before the attack. A top U.S. source said that the strike did "significant damage" to the Fordow site but did not destroy it. Similar assessments were made by Israeli military sources, who said that while key equipment was damaged, the site was still partly operating. According to information from both the US and Israel, Iran knew about the attack and moved important materials, especially enriched uranium, away from the site before it happened. A different Iranian source told Reuters that the uranium was moved to a place that wasn't said, and that the number of people working at Fordow was cut down right before the attack, which backed up this opinion. The Washington Post looked at satellite images and found that trucks and cars were moving in strange ways at the Fordow spot on June 19, two days before the bombings. Images showed several trucks leaving and lining up around key entry points, which adds to the evidence for a planned retreat. As the conflict between Israel and Iran, which started on June 13, got worse, the U.S. strike, which also hit Iran's Natanz and Isfahan nuclear plants, happened. After Israeli strikes on military and nuclear sites and the killing of top Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists, the conflict got worse. The first direct U.S. military action in the war was the attack on Sunday. President Trump called the operation a "military success," but Secretary of State Marco Rubio said it could take days to get a full picture of Iran's moves of nuclear materials. In answer, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps promised to fight back, saying they would do things that were "not in line with normal calculations."
