Jaquan Brisker reacts to Bears' Day 2 picks in 2025 NFL draft
The Chicago Bears have been busy on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft, adding two offensive players in wide receiver Luther Burden III and offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo after making a trade with the Buffalo Bills to move back from 41st overall.
After adding Burden and Trapilo, the Bears used their third second-round pick to select defensive tackle Shemar Turner out of Texas A&M. There was a big belief that Chicago would continue their focus on the trenches after rebuilding their offensive and defensive lines in free agency, and they did just that with two of their Day 2 picks.
One of the team's key young players, safety Jaquan Brisker, has taken notice of the team's moves through two rounds and is beyond happy with what they've done. Brisker took to his official X (Twitter) account to express his love for the first four picks made by Chicago, which also includes tight end Colston Loveland who was taken 10th overall in the first round.
"Loving the picks!" Brisker wrote. "Let's goooo! #DaBears"
Brisker's joy is being felt throughout the Bears fanbase and organization, but general manager Ryan Poles still has work to do to close out the 2025 draft and complete the roster rebuild for new head coach Ben Johnson on Saturday, where Chicago currently has three selections -- Nos. 109 (fourth round), 148 (fifth round) and 233 (seventh round).

Raleigh homers twice, breaks Bench's record in the Mariners' victory over the Cubs
CHICAGO — Cal Raleigh broke Johnny Bench's record for home runs by a catcher before the All-Star break, hitting his major league-leading 28th and 29th in the Seattle Mariners' 9-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday. Raleigh broke a tie in the seventh with No. 29 to move ahead of Hall of Famer Bench's 1970 mark. Raleigh needed only 73 games to break the record that Bench set in 87 games. The Seattle star shattered the mark with 22 games to spare before the All-Star game. Raleigh had three hits in his sixth multi-homer game of the season. The 28-year-old slugger drove in three runs to push his season total to 63. Mitch Garver also homered twice and drove in five runs, putting it away with a three-run shot in the ninth. Randy Arozarena and Donovan Solano each had three hits to help Seattle win for the fifth time in seven games. RANGERS 6, PIRATES 2 PITTSBURGH — Jacob deGrom struck out seven in six strong innings, Corey Seager hit his first home run since May 10 and Texas beat Pittsburgh. DeGrom (7-2) retired the first 11 batters and allowed two runs and five hits in six innings with one walk. One day after his 37th birthday, the two-time Cy Young Award winner extended his franchise record to 12 consecutive starts of allowing two runs or fewer and five hits or fewer. After being injured for most of the past four seasons, deGrom is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA in four June starts. Seager homered with one out in the fifth inning off rookie Mike Burrows (1-2), a drive to right field to increase the Rangers' lead to 4-2. The five-time All-Star shortstop had gone 81 plate appearances without a home run while also being on the injured list from May 11-27 with a strained right hamstring. Burrows lasted 4 2/3 innings and gave up four runs on seven hits. After Weaver exited, Gunnar Henderson's pinch-hit RBI single off Tim Hill put Baltimore up 5-3. WHITE SOX 7, BLUE JAYS 1 TORONTO — Luis Robert Jr. hit a two-run homer in Chicago's four-run third inning and the White Sox beat Toronto to end an eight-game losing streak. Josh Rohas had a two-run double in the third for Chicago. Andrew Benintendi had a solo home run in the first and added an RBI single in the second. It was a double-bullpen game, with both teams trotting out a handful of relief pitchers with no starters available. Grant Taylor pitched a scoreless inning for the White Sox before giving way to long reliever Tyler Alexander (4-7), who worked four without giving up a run. Dan Altavilla, Wikelman Gonzalez and Tyler Gilbert also came out of the bullpen, with Gonzalez allowing a run. Spencer Turnbull (1-1) gave up four runs on five hits and two walks over two innings of work. Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil homered for New York, which has lost seven straight. There's a new generation of receivers taking over the NFL, and they are quickly encroaching upon some of the players in league history. Advertisement Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson seems to set receiving records each season. In 2024, Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase won the receiving triple crown. Fellow LSU alumni and New York Giants dynamo Malik Nabers wasn't too far behind despite bottom-barrel quarterbacking, and it seems like every offseason offers a new batch of studs to choose from. And yet, none of them hold a candle to Tampa Bay Buccaneers veteran Mike Evans' production. Only Jerry Rice has as many consecutive 1,000-yard seasons (11) as Evans, and the greatest receiver to ever live is the only player with more quadruple-digit campaigns. Nobody is touching that mark any time soon; it's a matter of circumstance, luck, and a whole lot of talent. If anyone is going to break it, Chase and his connection with quarterback Joe Burrow might have the best chance. Advertisement The Buccaneers legend revealed his take on Chase in an interview with Greg Auman. 'Ja'Marr Chase. He's a guy where if you said he was better than me — I don't think anybody's better than me — but if you said him, I would understand,' Evans said. There's a very real chance that Chase's peak is greater than Evans'. The latter has never led the league in receiving or receptions. Chase did so in 2024. He also picked up a first-team All-Pro selection this past season, something Evans hasn't done through his 11-year career. For what it's worth, Chase has a long way to go to match Evans' streak of 11 seasons. He's logged at least 1,000 yards in his first four seasons. The aforementioned Burrow certainly helps his chances, as does a running mate in receiver Tee Higgins who takes some attention away. Chase will have to stay healthy to hit those marks, but few will doubt his ability to produce those kinds of seasons. Advertisement Perhaps Evans' ability to remain consistent with Jameis Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Baker Mayfield, and a host of other passers makes his record even more impressive. Chase will hope to take one step closer to Evans this year, although Cincinnati and Tampa Bay won't play in the 2025 regular season.
