‘Spider-Man' and ‘One Life to Live' star Jack Betts dead at 96

Jack Betts has passed away at 96 years old. The actor starred on the soap opera 'One Life to Live' from 1979 to 1985, appearing in 20 episodes as Llanview Hospital's Dr. Ivan Kipling. Betts' nephew, Dean Sullivan, told The Hollywood Reporter that the star died in his sleep at his house in Los Osos, California, on Thursday. 7 Jack Betts at The Cocktail Hour play opening, LA, California, April 19, 1990. Getty Images Betts lived with 'Everybody Loves Raymond' actress Doris Roberts before her death at age 90 in 2016. The two would attend events together over the years and Roberts even directed a play written by Betts, about a soap opera, titled 'Screen Test: Take One.' The close pals first met in 1954 at The Actors Studio in New York City in 1954. Decades later, in 1988, Betts accepted Roberts' offer to move from the Big Apple into the downstairs apartment at her Hollywood Hills home. 7 Actor Jack Betts. Columbia Pictures 'We were best friends to the very end, we had wonderful times together,' he gushed following her death. Betts was also known for starring as Henry Balkan – the Oscorp board chair who fired Norman Osborn (Willem Defoe) – in Sam Raimi's 2002 'Spider-Man.' Norman then became the villainous Green Goblin and vaporized Henry and the board. While on 'The Dev Show' in 2020, Betts spoke about filming the Oscorp boardroom shot and how he asked Raimi, 65, if he could add some of his own spin onto the scene. 7 Jack Betts is seen on May 6, 2016. 'After, I finished it, [Raimi] said, 'That's it. Terrific. Print that one.'' 'My point being is that I wanted to add something just a little different to it instead of doing it the same way over and over and over and over. [Raimi] he was willing to do that. He really was. Wonderful man to work with.' The Hollywood vet was raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, before moving to Miami with his family at age 10. The actor received his degree in theater from the University of Miami, and shortly after graduation, relocated to New York to begin acting. 7 Jose Ferrer, Jack Betts in 'Another World.' Courtesy Everett Collection Betts landed his first role as a supporting actor in the 1953 Broadway adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Richard III.' For two seasons, from 1960 to 1962, Betts played detective Chris Devlin in the CBS mystery series 'Checkmate' opposite Anthony George, Sebastian Cabot and Doug McClure. The show, created by Eric Ambler, followed private detectives solving cases in San Francisco with the help of a British criminologist. Betts appeared four times on CBS' Perry Mason from 1961-66 before he met Giraldi about starring in Sugar Colt. He told the director that he could ride a horse and had just won a shooting contest — of course, he had never been on a horse or handled a gun — but he spent the next three weeks learning those skills at John Wayne's ranch before reporting for duty at Cinecittà in Rome. Shortly after, he entered the soap opera world, landing a role on 'General Hospital' from 1963 to 1965. 7 Jack Betts, Barbara Lord, Peter Falk in 'The Bloody Brood.' Courtesy Everett Collection From there, Betts made his mark on the franchises, and along with 'One Life to Live,' he had parts on 'The Edge of Night,' 'The Doctors,' 'Another World,' 'All My Children,' 'Search for Tomorrow,' 'Guiding Light,' 'Loving,' 'The Young and the Restless,' and 'Generations.' Some of Betts most memorable television roles included 'Seinfeld,' 'Frasier,' 'Everybody Loves Raymond,' 'Monk,' and 'Friends.' His last credited series was on the Freeform drama 'Good Trouble' in 2019. 7 Barbara Bain, Jack Betts in 'Silver Skies.' Courtesy Everett Collection When Betts stepped onto the spaghetti Western scene in 1966 as the title character Hunt Powers in Franco Giraldi's 'Sugar Colt,' he was able to turn that film into 15 others until 1973. But Betts didn't get the same credit as a certain fellow western star did. 'In the hotel next to mine was Clint Eastwood,' he recounted in a 2021 interview. 'He'd go up to his mountain and do his Western and I'd go up to my mountain and do my Western. But while his films had distribution all over the world, my films were distributed [everywhere] except Canada and America.' Betts is survived by his sister, Joan – who is set to turn 100 this year – nephew Dean, and nieces, Lynee and Gail.

Leslie Bibb Set the Record Straight on Why She Hasn't Married Sam Rockwell After 18 Years Together

After both starring in season 3 of The White Lotus, fans are realizing how sweet Leslie Bibb and Sam Rockwell are more than ever before. The duo, who have been together for 18 years, are a true Hollywood power couple, but have no plans to walk down the aisle anytime soon. As this week's guest co-host of the Today Show with Jenna Bush Hager, Bibb finally explained why they've never 'put a ring on it.' More from SheKnows Eric Dane Was Reportedly Dating Two Women Before His Red Carpet Debut With Janell Shirtcliff 'Listen, I love Sam Rockwell,' she told Bush Hager of the Oscar winner. 'I would put him in my pocket and carry him with me all the time. I love him, [but] I do not want to get married.' Bush Hager then asked if it was something that came up at the beginning of their relationship. As it turns out, Rockwell even annoyed her by asking her over and over again if she was sure. 'He kept saying, 'Really, you don't want to get married?'' Bibb remembered. ''Stop asking me as if I'm gonna pull a sneak on you,' but he didn't want it either.' 'Maybe it's probably something about the way we grew up, but I feel like if it ain't broke, don't fix it,' she said. Bibb then went on to say that all relationships, regardless of being married or not, have their ups and downs. 'I think this is an ideal that has been ingrained in us of long hair, fairytale, that someone's gonna come in and if we're in a relationship, everything will be okay,' she said. '[But] it's not gonna be okay, stuff happens, and it's gonna be highs and lows.' She also added that she never wanted to become a mom. 'I just don't have that chip in me,' she shared. And, despite the 18 years together, it seems Bibb and Rockwell are keeping their spark alive. 'I do think it gets better,' she said. 'I think the intimacy of a relationship is sexy to me. You can all have all the hot sex in the beginning, but you gotta reinvent.' Later on in the episode, Rockwell joined both Bibb and Bush Hager for an interview. There, Bush Hagr asked Rockwell about his first impressions of his girlfriend. 'We had that kind of thunderbolt, like 'Dream Weaver' moment in Wayne's World when we saw each other,' Rockwell gushed. 'I found out that she studied in the same acting school that I did, so that was really handy.' Bibb, on the other hand, tried to play it cool. 'I thought you were really cute and I pretended I didn't know who you were,' she remembered. Speaking of their first date, Rockwell remembered that they ended up extending their date to dinner after their day date went so well. 'It's good, you were single, you were ready to mingle,' she told him. 'And I just put my little talons and I said 'No, you're mine.'' 'And they're still in,' Rockwell added. Jason Isaacs Gave a Definite Answer to His Rumored Feud With 'White Lotus' Co-Star Parker Posey

Before the season 3 finale of The White Lotus even aired, feud rumors started to swirl about the stars of the show. Among the fan theories, for example, is that Jason Isaacs and Parker Posey, who played married couple Timothy and Victoria Ratliff in the series, didn't exactly get along. Now, he's shining some light on their dynamic. In a new interview with Vulture, Isaacs answered a question White Lotus fans have been asking themselves all along: Why has he seemed closer to his onscreen kids (Patrick Schwarznegger, Sarah Catherine Cook and Sam Nivola) than to his onscreen wife? More from SheKnows Leslie Bibb Set the Record Straight on Why She Hasn't Married Sam Rockwell After 18 Years Together 'She's Parker Posey,' Isaacs said when asked about what it was like working with her. 'She's everything you think she would be.' When pressed on the matter, Isaacs couldn't avoid hinting at some tension. 'She was playing someone out of her head, so she was given license to be bonkers,' he said. 'And then I'm playing someone out of my head.' 'So I didn't really look at her or talk to her or listen to her because I'm so much in my own tunnel,' he revealed. 'So, I can't really tell you what it's like to interact with her too much.' So while Isaacs didn't exactly confirm that he and Posey are feuding, he's finally admitted that they didn't get along. Whether that was because of their 'method acting' or their own personalities, however, it seems we'll never know. Previously, Isaacs discussed on-set drama in an April 9 episode of The Happy Hour on SiriusXM's TODAY Show Radio. Isaacs stated that while filming the show on location in Thailand, the cast and crew 'were in a little pressure cooker together.' 'Like anywhere you go for the summer, there's friendships, there's romances, there's arguments, there's cliques that form and break and reform and stuff like that,' he explained. Isaacs added that he's seen the rumors about who had issues on set, saying, 'I'm careful. I'm not stupid. I look at the Internet. I only read every single word written about The White Lotus and about everybody in it.' But assured fans that the 'amateur Sherlock Holmes' trying to figure out which cast members might be feuding don't have 'the slightest clue what they're talking about.' 'People who think they're onto something, and it then gets magnified because of a thousand other people. Nobody has any clue,' he said. Hopefully he'll keep the clues coming!Best of SheKnows 17 Movies & TV Shows That Educate About the History of American Slavery All of Chris Martin's Confirmed & Rumored Relationships Over the Years 13 Times Meghan Markle Reminded Us So Much of Princess Diana
