Deepika Padukone's recent exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit featuring Prabhas has been garnering headlines for quite some time now. The actress quit the project because the director refused to accommodate an 8-hour shift, as Padukone had recently embraced motherhood and wanted to spend time with her baby. The filmmaker replaced Deepika with Triptii Dimri in his film by sharing the news on his social media account.
Padukone has found support in the likes of Kajol, Ajay Devgn, Mani Ratnam, and Neha Dhupia. And now actress Kritika Kamra has also backed her rightful demands and said, 'Eight hours is a reasonable demand. Some of our male stars don't even work for eight hours. They have that privilege that they can turn up late. It has become such a huge talking point. There is no parity in this.'

Earlier Ajay Devgn also shared his support for Deepika Padukone and had said, 'It's not that it's not going down well with people. Most of the honest filmmakers will not have problems with it. And apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, most people have started working eight-nine-hour shifts.'
Filmmaker Mani Ratnam had also supported Padukone by calling her demand valid and News18, 'I think it is a rightful demand. I'm glad she's in a position to ask for it. I think as a filmmaker, you will take that into consideration when you cast. It is not an unreasonable thing to ask, but an absolute necessity. I think that should be the priority. You have to acknowledge that, understand it and work around it.'
On the professional front, Deepika Padukone recently came on board for Atlee's directorial featuring Allu Arjun, which is tentatively titled AA22xA6. Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures is bankrolling the film.

'Bhaiya Yaar': Hilarious Mix-Up Between Yashasvi Jaiswal-Shubman Gill Goes Viral

Last Updated: Yashasvi Jaiswal's funny reaction to Shubman Gill denying a single has the internet laughing. Star India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal's hilarious reaction after skipper Shubman Gill denied him a single after a long consultation has left the internet in splits, with the duo's chat regarding handling each other and taking safe singles between the wickets making the scenario even funnier. Jaiswal made a characterful century and Gill crafted a graceful half-century as India punished a lacklustre England to reach a formidable 215/2 at tea on the first day of the opening Test of the five-match series in Headingley. England might see this innings as an ominous sign from Jaiswal that he might just replicate that 712-run series against them in India in 2024. ' Bolte rehna bas. Call. Meri aadat hai aage jaane ki (Just keep saying. Call. I have a habit of going forward)," Jaiswal said while speaking to Gill across the crease. Watch the video here: ' Bhaag mat jaiyo bas (Just don't run)," Gill replied. ' Mereko zor se no boldo chalega, meri aadat hai lekin (Just loudly shout no, that would work for me, I just have a habit of walking out)," Jaiswal reiterated. Soon enough, off a delivery from Josh Tongue, the duo had a chance to run a single and Jaiswal started running, only to be refused by Gill. ' Aarey aajao yaar. Bhaiya yaar (Thoda aage thha ye, sorry (It was a bit ahead, apologies)," Gill replied. ' Bahut dur hai (It was far)," Jaiswal said. The southpaw was dismissed off deliveries outside off twice while playing for India A against the England Lions in the recent tour games, but in Headingley, Jaiswal didn't repeat the errors. Jaiswal was assisted by the England bowlers, who struggled to discover the right line and length on a placid pitch. Their profligacy meant that the Indian batters received ample scoring chances. Gill's languid grace wowed the crowd when he essayed an off-drive off Chris Woakes and followed it up with a dreamy clip off the pads for a boundary as England's second most experienced bowler went for almost five runs an over across the first two sessions. Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Day 1: Aamir Khan's Film Opens At Rs 8.87 Crore

Last Updated: Sitaare Zameen Par: While Laal Singh Chaddha had opened with Rs 11.7 cr on day 1, it remains to be seen whether Sitaare Zameen Par will surpass that figure by the end of the day. Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office Collection Day 1: Aamir Khan's much-awaited comeback film, Sitaare Zameen Par, finally hit theatres on Friday, and early box office figures suggest a modest start. As per the latest update on the film managed to earn Rs 8.87 crore by 8 pm on its opening day. While expectations were high given Aamir's return to the big screen after Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), the start has been slightly underwhelming, especially when compared to his past hits. The film saw an overall 17.73% Hindi occupancy on Friday, with morning shows reporting a 16.74% turnout. The numbers stayed largely consistent for the afternoon (16.25%) and picked up a bit during the evening with 20.21%. While Laal Singh Chaddha had opened with Rs 11.7 crore on day one, it remains to be seen whether Sitaare Zameen Par will surpass that figure by the end of the day. Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is being marketed as a spiritual sequel to the 2007 blockbuster Taare Zameen Par, which also starred Aamir Khan in a pivotal role. This time around, the actor plays a basketball coach, guiding a team of children with learning disabilities toward self-worth and victory. The film is an official remake of the Spanish film Campeones. The sports drama introduces 10 new faces including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. An excerpt from the review reads, 'Sitaare Zameen Par is a celebration of neurodiversity, makes a strong statement about inclusivity, breaks down stigmas surrounding it, and makes you think about what 'the other kind of normal' is." The review also highlights that Aamir has no intention of releasing the film on streaming platforms anytime soon, signaling his continued faith in theatrical experiences. The coming days will be crucial for the film's performance. Word of mouth and weekend footfalls could make or break its run. For now, Sitaare Zameen Par has opened with a humble figure, and all eyes are on whether Aamir's charm will pull in stronger numbers ahead. First Published:
