Saudi Arabia's launches 'TOURISE' a global platform to redefine tourism

New Delhi [India], May 23 (ANI): Saudi Arabia launched 'TOURISE' on Friday a global platform designed to shape a new horizon and plot a shared roadmap for the next 50 years of tourism.TOURISE is defined as the first global platform to unite public and private sector leaders across tourism, technology, investment and sustainability ecosystems. It aims to unlock the deal flows and high-value investment opportunities to reset the industry.'Anchored by a high-level advisory board of global industry leaders, TOURISE aims to unlock unprecedented deal flow and high-value investment opportunities that will reset the industry,' says a release of the ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia. TOURISE is structured for year-round impact in the Industry at a larger scale through digital collaboration, thematic working groups, and cross-sector partnerships focused on long-term sector transformation. This includes a series of white papers and global indices focused on tourism, sustainability and global economy, co-developed with leading international organizations, setting new benchmarks for the tourism sector. 'But as the world evolves, the sector must too. Whether adapting to technological disruption and changing traveller expectations, to addressing the urgent calls for sustainability and a more equitable approach to travel, TOURISE will be the much-needed platform to shape the future of tourism,' Ahmed Al-Khateeb, minister of Tourism Saudi Arabia said at the launch of TOURISE event.Additionally, the inaugural TOURISE Awards were also announced to recognise and celebrate destinations across the global ecosystem. These awards aims to bring spotlight to notable achievements in sustainability, digital transformation, inclusive tourism, cultural preservation, and workforce development.Nominations for the awards will open on June 2nd, with winners announced at the opening night of the inaugural TOURISE Summit. The inaugural TOURISE Summit will be an invite-only event to be held in Riyadh from November 11-13, 2025.Julia Simpson, President & CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and a TOURISE Advisory Board Member noted that, 'We are delighted to be a part of this global initiative and continue our long-standing collaboration across the entire tourism ecosystem... Air India Express Flight To Patna Diverted To Varanasi Due To Bad Weather

Earlier in the week, on Monday, another Air India Express flight from Delhi to Ranchi had to return Delhi shortly after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue. An Air India Express flight from Delhi to Patna was diverted to Varanasi on Saturday due to adverse weather conditions. An airline spokesperson said that Air India Express flight IX1014 from Delhi (DEL) to Patna (PAT) on 21 June 2025 was diverted to Varanasi (VNS). 'Due to adverse weather conditions, one of our flights to Patna was diverted briefly to Varanasi. When the weather improved, the flight resumed and landed in Patna. We regret the delay caused by circumstances beyond our control," the spokesperson said. Earlier in the week, on Monday, another Air India Express flight from Delhi to Ranchi had to return to the national capital shortly after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue. The airline said the Boeing 737 Max 8 plane was scheduled to land at Ranchi's Birsa Munda Airport at 6:20 PM. After the inspection and clearance, the aircraft continued its normal operations. 'One of our flights returned to Delhi after take-off due to a suspected technical issue. Post inspections and clearance, the aircraft continued scheduled operations. We regret the inconvenience," the airline spokesperson said. Earlier on Friday, Air India cancelled several international and domestic flights due to increased aircraft checks, bad weather, and airspace restrictions. Affected flights include services between Dubai, Chennai, Delhi, Melbourne, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. According to an Air India's statement, 'Air India's international flights AI906 from Dubai to Chennai; AI308 from Delhi to Melbourne; AI309 from Melbourne to Delhi; AI2204 from Dubai to Hyderabad and domestic flights AI874 from Pune to Delhi; AI456 from Ahmedabad to Delhi; AI-2872 from Hyderabad to Mumbai and AI571 from Chennai to Mumbai have been cancelled due to enhanced maintenance and operational reasons." The airline has offered full refunds or free rescheduling and is helping passengers with alternate travel plans. 'We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers. Our colleagues on ground are making alternative arrangements for them to fly to their respective destinations at the earliest. Indias agrochemical exports set for moderate rebound in FY25: Rubix report

New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): India's agrochemical exports are expected to moderately rebound in the Financial Year 2025, with improving demand and inventory normalisation, according to an industry report by Rubix, which analyses industry data and trends. India's agrochemical exports declined sharply in FY2024, by nearly 22 per cent compared to the previous year, primarily due to global inventory destocking, heightened price competition from China, and subdued demand in key export markets. The report says that distributors worldwide reduced procurement to manage excess stock amid falling prices. At the same time, Chinese suppliers re-entered the market with aggressively priced products, making Indian exports less competitive. Additionally, erratic weather patterns impacted agricultural activity in importing countries, further dampening demand. However, exports are expected to recover in the coming years as global inventories stabilise, demand picks up with improved agricultural cycles, and Indian manufacturers adapt with cost-efficient production and diversified portfolios. As a result, the trade surplus (difference between exports and imports) came down from USD 3.6 billion in FY2023 and USD 2.8 billion in FY2024 to USD 2.3 billion in FY2025 (April 2024- February 2025). Highlighting the factors that support exports, the report added that herbicides have emerged as the leading export segment, experiencing the fastest growth at 20 per cent CAGR from FY2020 to FY2025. The share of herbicides in total agrochemical exports increased from 31 per cent to 37 per cent during the same timeframe. As per the report, this growth is driven by India's cost-effective manufacturing, rising global demand for affordable herbicides, and the increasing scarcity and cost of agricultural labour, making herbicide-based weed control a more viable choice for farmers. The export landscape reveals a growing concentration in key markets, as the top five export destinations account for more than 50 per cent share for insecticides and fungicides and nearly 71 per cent for herbicides. Notably, the US and Brazil have maintained their positions as the top export destinations for insecticides and fungicides over the past five years. However, in FY2025, Japan displaced Brazil as the second-largest export destination for herbicides. (ANI)

Chennai-bound IndiGo flight issued 'fuel mayday' call, diverted to Bengaluru: Sources

New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): An IndiGo flight (6E 6764) from Guwahati to Chennai was forced to divert to Bengaluru after the pilot issued a 'fuel mayday' call due to insufficient fuel in the plane, sources said on Saturday. According to sources, the incident occurred on Thursday. The pilot did not get clearance to land in Chennai due to congestion at the airport. 'The diversion occurred because of congestion at Chennai airport, which prevented the aircraft from landing there in time. Passengers were on board during the emergency reroute,' they said. 'The flight landed safely in Bengaluru at 8:15 PM. During the refuelling process, passengers were provided refreshments, and their baggage was offloaded. Due to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL), the airline had to arrange for a fresh crew,' sources said, adding that the flight subsequently departed for Chennai at 10:24 PM. Earlier on Tuesday, June 17, an Indigo flight from Muscat to Kochi, and further to Delhi, was diverted to Nagpur due to security concerns. According to the airline, the flight 6E1272, travelling from Muscat to Kochi, while continuing as flight 6E2706 from Kochi to Delhi, was rerouted to Nagpur on Tuesday due to a security issue. The plane landed safely at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, and all passengers were safely disembarked. 'We confirm receiving a security concern pertaining to IndiGo flight 6E1272 flying from Muscat to Kochi when the aircraft was operating its subsequent sector from Kochi to Delhi as 6E2706 on 17 June 2025. Following protocol, the relevant authorities were immediately informed, and the aircraft was diverted to Nagpur,' an airline spokesperson said. (ANI)
