Dubai Welcomes Bitcoin.com to DMCC Crypto Centre

Arabian Post6 days ago

Bitcoin.com has established its first Middle East and North Africa regional headquarters at Dubai's DMCC Crypto Centre, signalling a strategic expansion in the emirate's blockchain ecosystem. The move secures its place among over 650 companies specialising in blockchain infrastructure, decentralised finance, tokenisation and metaverse development within the DMCC's Crypto Centre in Uptown Tower.
Dubai's position as a global cryptocurrency hub is underscored by the establishment of the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, the world's first independent virtual‑assets regulator, which has brought clarity and security to crypto firms operating in the region. The emirate's tax‑friendly environment and global connectivity further enhance its appeal to Web3 companies.
Belal Jassoma, director of ecosystems at DMCC, emphasised the strategic significance of the addition: 'Bitcoin.com's decision to establish its regional headquarters within our community highlights the global pull of the Crypto Centre and the scale of opportunity that Dubai represents today'. His remarks reflect DMCC's focus on facilitating access to markets, capital, mentorship and international collaboration across its ecosystem of more than 25,000 businesses — of which around 3,200 are tech‑focused, 800 in blockchain, gaming or AI.

Corbin Fraser, CEO of Bitcoin.com, praised Dubai's 'clear and progressive regulations, a fast‑track licensing process and a genuine appetite for innovation', calling the emirate 'one of the most welcoming environments in the world for Web3 companies'. He stressed that DMCC's world‑class infrastructure and thriving crypto ecosystem provided a robust foundation for regional growth.
Bitcoin.com, renowned for its cryptocurrency news, education and self‑custodial products, intends to leverage its presence in Dubai to engage more deeply with the MENA crypto community and contribute international expertise to its development. The company joins a cluster of major global crypto players already based in DMCC, reinforcing Dubai's rising status in blockchain innovation.
Dubai's crypto ascent began with VARA's launch, which set a global precedent with an independent regulatory framework for virtual assets. The authority, alongside Dubai's broader policy ecosystem, aims to ensure regulatory clarity, speed and security — elements essential for attracting and retaining crypto enterprises. This framework, combined with zero personal income tax and strategic global links, positions Dubai as an increasingly attractive base for Web3 firms.
The DMCC Crypto Centre itself provides an integrated support system: from licensing and legal assistance to accelerator programmes, capital access, mentoring and partnership opportunities with established global Web3 entities. Beyond the Crypto Centre, DMCC also hosts dedicated hubs for gaming and artificial intelligence, fostering interdisciplinary tech growth within its broader community.
By situating its regional office in Uptown Tower, Bitcoin.com directly taps into Mesopotamia's largest blockchain cluster. Its move exemplifies Dubai's rapid ascent from an emerging player to a central node in the global digital‑assets network, with momentum driven by regulatory foresight, economic incentives and aggressive ecosystem-building.

This protocol aims to unify the fragmentation of Web3 and unlock Bitcoin DeFi for every chain

Communication protocol GVNR prepares to launch GVNR following the successful deployment of its proof-of-concept applications that unify Web3. Navigating crypto in 2025 feels like flying with three different passports: one for Ethereum, another for Bitcoin and a third for the favorite side-chain. Every hop between wallets introduces extra clicks, swap fees, fresh attack surfaces and, most worryingly, the risk of unexpected tax events. This creates a fragmented, clunky experience that frustrates users and keeps newcomers out. GVNR, a foundational general message passing layer for Web3, believes detouring is a relic of the early internet era. After 18 months of building, the team is rolling out a universal routing layer that lets any smart contract communicate with any other chain as naturally as web pages link to each other. The project's goal is simple: treat every blockchain as one cohesive runtime. Its protocol passes signed messages among chains so developers don't need wrapped assets, bridges or custodial middlemen. Instead of constantly switching networks and wallets, users just make one move, and GVNR handles the rest behind the scenes. Avoiding bridges and wrapping tokens can eliminate the tax risks; in fact, few understand that bridging assets can trigger a tax liability. Putting theory into practice Putting this vision into action, GVNR has already launched three live proof-of-concept apps that show what seamless interoperability can look like: GVNR Portfolio: A dashboard where users and their AI agents can view and control tokens scattered across every connected chain from a single interface. JustPay: A checkout layer that unlocks $500 billion of asset value, letting users spend any token on any chain to pay an invoice on a different chain. For example, an Arbitrum bill can be settled with Bitcoin, or a Solana mint can be covered with USDC on Polygon in a single click. JustSwap: An aggregation layer for decentralized exchanges (DEX) that lets traders swap tokens on any chain for any other asset across connected ecosystems, and a unique swap and send function so users can gas new wallets with a single action. GVNR has already processed more than $450,000 onchain, with over 26,000 users executing more than 60,000 swaps, minting over 35,000 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) across ten chains and logging over 143,000 transactions in total. Each interaction is a live demonstration that GVNR messages can shepherd value anywhere liquidity is needed. The engine of the ecosystem With its core technology demonstrated, the project is now centered on the launch of its native token, GVNR. The token is designed as a multifaceted utility asset that powers the entire network. Beyond its role in the protocol's decentralized governance, it will also be used for staking and payments. A key aspect of the token's design is its planned integration with the growing network of AI agents, which will be able to use GVNR to complete onchain actions. With a capped supply of 20 million, the token is now available to the public through a sale on Republic. The GVNR token empowers holders with governance rights through the GVNR DAO. Unlike many projects, there is no entity with 'labs' in its name that owns the intellectual property. GVNR's structure ensures that the decentralized autonomous organization's (DAO) sole purpose is to steer the protocol and drive value back to the token. This is reinforced by a deflationary furnace mechanism, which uses network fees to permanently reduce the token supply, aligning network growth directly with holder value and serving the ultimate vision of mobilizing a new era of crosschain liquidity. As foundational routing layers like GVNR mature, they begin to abstract away the complexity of the underlying blockchains. With such developments, the industry is gradually shifting from a collection of siloed networks toward a more unified landscape where digital value can move as freely as information, paving the way for a more intuitive and interconnected user experience. What's next? Following on, GVNR envisions a new permissionless era for Bitcoin. The team is building a permissionless Bitcoin DeFi loan product, named Diamond Hands. Other assets, such as ETH and SOL, have had access to loan products since DeFi began, but Bitcoin has been left behind, forced into wrapping, bridging and worse, centralized entities. Bridging and wrapping incur tax events, centralized entities risk default events; GVNR Diamond Hands will enable non-custodial native Bitcoin DeFi loans. Source:

Trump Family Trims Crypto Venture Stake

Donald Trump's family has quietly reduced its stake in World Liberty Financial, the crypto venture closely tied to his business and political interests, trimming its holding from 60 per cent to 40 per cent after June 8. The move marks a significant shift in the family's involvement in the blockchain sector. The reduction in equity coincided with a rising valuation for WLF, which earlier sold US$550 million in its native $WLFI tokens and has attracted substantial foreign investments, including a US$2 billion infusion from a UAE-backed entity using its stablecoin USD1 for Binance transactions. Analysts estimate the 20 per cent stake sale could have fetched around US$190 million, with approximately US$135 million potentially going to Donald Trump personally. World Liberty Financial, launched during the 2024 election cycle, has been a central hub of the Trump family's crypto strategy. The firm is a decentralised finance protocol that aggressively markets its connection to Trump, listing him as 'chief crypto advocate' and involving his sons in senior Web3 roles. Under its structure, Trump-linked entities capture 60 per cent of ownership and 75 per cent of token sale revenues. ADVERTISEMENT The firm's high-profile stablecoin USD1, launched in March 2025, swiftly became one of the top five global stablecoins, with a circulating supply exceeding US$2 billion by April. In May, the WLF stablecoin was chosen by an Abu Dhabi investment fund to purchase US$2 billion in Binance shares—a deal criticised for merging private enterprise and diplomatic influence. Critics have raised concerns that the share reduction, lacking any formal announcement, typifies the project's secretive nature and the family's opaque handling of crypto profits. DT Marks DEFI LLC—an entity renamed from DT Tower II LLC in 2024 and fully owned by Trump family—holds the WLF stake. Ownership structure has branched out to include Don Jr., Eric, and Barron Trump, each holding minor positions alongside their father within the DEFI entity. The lack of disclosure prompted scrutiny, and no official response has emerged from the Trump Organisation or WLF regarding the transaction. This latest move mirrors an earlier reduction in January 2025, when the family lowered its control from 75 per cent to 60 per cent. The pivot comes amid intensifying criticism of World Liberty's entanglement with state and family interests. Steve Witkoff—Trump's Middle East envoy—is linked to key dealmaking, with his son Zach co-founding WLF. Their collaborative efforts to court foreign investment from UAE and Pakistan have sparked concern over potential conflicts between diplomatic roles and private profit. Legal experts and ethicists question the blending of public service and personal gain in a venture that funnels income to the Trump and Witkoff families while concurrently lifting Trump administration deregulatory actions on digital assets. The share reduction enters a broader regulatory moment. The US Senate recently passed stablecoin legislation that may reshape legal frameworks around such assets, while Circle, a peer stablecoin issuer, saw its valuation spike—heightening investor comparisons with WLF. With global crypto markets in flux and the Trump-linked coin ecosystem expanding, the timing of the sale aligns with strategic portfolio recalibration. World Liberty continues to promote itself as the 'official' Trump crypto brand, prompting its legal team to issue cease-and-desist directives against unauthorised token imitations. There is no indication that the stake reduction signals a retreat; rather, it appears to be a calculated liquidity event amid heightened scrutiny and shifting valuations.
