My first name isn't Ben. [He was born Charles Benedict Ainslie.]
Sailing was a huge part of my family's life growing up. My father, Roddy, skippered a boat in the Whitbread Round the World race, the first-ever crewed round the world race in 1972. Hearing the stories from that race and his many other experiences was the key influence in getting me out on the water.
In sailing, Sir Robin Knox-Johnson is someone I admire. He was the first person to single-handedly sail non-stop around the world in 1969 with none of the technology we have nowadays. We've become good friends over the years and he's a great inspiration. In terms of other sports, Roger Federer is a brilliant example of how I think athletes should carry themselves both in and out of a competition.
'Never give up' is the best advice I've ever received and it was from my father. It was way back in my junior sailing days.
I've been fortunate to be involved in some truly amazing sporting moments. The two that stand out most for me are London 2012 and winning the America's Cup. I won my final Olympic gold medal in front of a home crowd, it was a special Olympics for the country and Team GB, and with that came high pressure, so to pull that off is one I won't ever forget. The other was winning the America's Cup with Oracle Team USA. We were 8-1 down and turned things around to win 8-9 in what many call the great comeback in sport, it was an unbelievable experience.
My first London home was in Hampton Court. I currently live in Wimbledon Village.
Wimbledon has a great vibe and sense of community. The Common is great for family walks. We love going to the Light on the Common, the River Café near Hammersmith and Scott's in Mayfair is a serious treat.
My daughter Bellatrix is my biggest supporter but also my most vocal performance analyst. She is always the first to tell me if I didn't win the race. She's very competitive, I have no idea where she gets it from.
At the moment, we have the Emirates GBR SailGP Team which is currently topping the SailGP Leaderboard after two events of the 14-event global season, and we have the Athena Pathway Team, which is creating pathways for diverse and underrepresented athletes into sailing – including having a team in last year's Women's America's Cup Team. Finally, with Athena Racing we're also the official British challenger for the next America's Cup – so lots on!
If you're looking to improve your sailing, find a good group to train with, so that you can push each other to get better with great coaching. Make sure you put the time and effort in to achieve your goals.
There's a great saying that 'luck is preparation looking for an opportunity', and I very much believe that to be true.

'But there is nothing like this meeting, it's our Olympics, and it's great to win this. Without him I wouldn't be as on the ball at all. It's been a great combination.' Field Of Gold impressed on Tuesday (David Davies/PA) Reflecting on Field Of Gold's dazzling Group One victory which lit up the opening day of the fixture, he added: 'Field Of Gold is a horse who has just improved and improved and improved. 'His sire Kingman was a peerless miler, but he has shown the electric turn of foot his sire had. It was a great race with all three Guineas winners from north-western Europe in the same race. He is very exciting for Juddmonte and for all of us.' Ballydoyle handler O'Brien may have been thwarted in his quest for a fourth successive leading trainer prize, but his number one jockey Ryan Moore was out on his own as top rider for the 12th time. He capped yet another fine week in Berkshire with his seventh success of the meeting aboard Willie Mullins' Sober in the concluding Queen Alexandra Stakes to finish two clear of Oisin Murphy. Both Coolmore and Wathnan Racing finished the week with five winners, but it was Coolmore who came out on top for the third year running on account of their superior record with placed horses. Coolmore's MV Magnier said: 'It means a lot to everyone. The guys and everyone put everything into this week, and for Aidan and Ryan to do such a good job, it's incredible. 'We're very grateful and we are very lucky to be here. We are very lucky to have the King and Queen present every day this week. It's a big deal for our business.'

Chusovitina turns 50 and flies to silver in World Challenge Cup
June 21 (Reuters) - Uzbek gymnast Oksana Chusovitina celebrated her 50th birthday in remarkable fashion by winning silver in the vault at the Gymnastics World Challenge Cup in Tashkent on Friday. Bulgarian Valentina Georgieva, 18, beat the former Olympic and world champion to claim gold while Uzbeki compatriot Shakhinabonu Yusufova took third place. Chusovitina become the Soviet all-around champion at 13 and the world champion on floor in 1991. She won gold in the team event at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and silver in the vault in Beijing 16 years later when she had temporarily switched her allegiance to Germany. In 2021, Chusovitina defied the odds to compete at her eighth Olympic Games in Tokyo but following the opening day of the women's competition she bade a tearful farewell after failing to make the cut for the vault final.

Riley Gaines makes shock Simone Biles admission after 'visceral personal attacks' over transgender athletes
Thawing tensions between Simone Biles and Riley Gaines could give way to an alliance, according to the former University of Kentucky swimmer. Speaking with TMZ, Gaines said she would 'absolutely' welcome a partnership with her former online sparring partner despite their recent friction. 'Look, Simone is someone I've looked up to, I've respected for so long,' the 12-time NCAA All-American told TMZ. 'She has done so much for women's sports, of course, for the sport of gymnastics, but even broader than that for women in general.' Biles has not commented about a potential partnership with Gaines on gender issues in sports. Daily Mail has reached out to her representatives for comment. The seven-time Olympic gold medal winner recently issued an apology to Gaines after comparing the swimmer's body to a man's during an online debate over transgender athletes in female sports. '[Biles'] stance felt so deeply visceral to me not because of the personal attacks, but more so again because of how she used her platform, a platform where young girls all across the nation, young girls like my little sister, who's a gymnast, look up to her,' Gaines told TMZ. 'In the blink of an eye, she effectively pulled up the ladder behind her,' she added. 'And again, a way that was, I think, done in haste. I think there was a lot of ignorance to the issue when she issued her initial tweets on that Friday evening.' Gaines has become synonymous with the issue of transgender athletes in female sports. She famously tied for fifth with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas in the 200-yard NCAA freestyle championship in 2022. Since then, she's become an outspoken critic of non-binary athletes in girls and women's competitions. Now a podcast host for Outkick, Gaines recently criticized a Minnesota softball team that featured a transgender pitcher. In response, Biles lashed out at Gaines, calling her views 'truly sick', before getting personal and telling her to 'bully someone your own size, which would ironically be male.' That comment led Gaines to reference Biles' abuser, former Olympic gymnastics doctor and convicted pedophile Larry Nassar. 'All the horrific sexual abuse @Simone_Biles witnessed and spoke out against caused by one man, yet believes women should be forced to strip naked in front of men to validate the man's feelings,' Gaines wrote on X. 'You know how many gold medals you'd have if your "inclusive" dream came true? Zero.' Biles has since issued an apology following days of intense online criticism from Gaines supporters. 'I wanted to follow up from my last tweets. I've always believed competitive equity & inclusivity are both essential in sport. 'The current system doesn't adequately balance these important principles, which often leads to frustration and heated exchanges, and it didn't help for me to get personal with Riley, which I apologize for.' Gaines replied: 'I accept Simone's apology for the personal attacks including the ones where she body-shamed me. I know she knows what this feels like. 'She's still the greatest female gymnast of all time. A couple of things. Sports ARE inclusive by nature. Anyone can and everyone SHOULD play…'
