Outloud music festival in Boston celebrates LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month
The Outloud music festival is coming to Boston this weekend, featuring high-energy performances from pop artists like Kim Petras and "RuPaul's Drag Race" star Trixie Mattel to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.
The festival has taken off in West Hollywood, but Boston represents its East Coast debut, just in time to wrap up Pride Month in the city.
Performers will take the stage in East Boston at Suffolk Downs on Saturday. The former horse racing track reopened as a music venue a few years ago.
"Coming together and facing challenges"
Jeff Consoletti is Outloud's founder and he grew up in Milford. He tells WBZ-TV that this is "an exciting project to come home with."
"LA has been a great home for me, but you know I love my Boston and New England roots," he said. "I really also recall my first live concerts, whether it was like attending events at the old Foxboro or Great Woods. The young producer in me really like connected to just regionally how the area comes together to celebrate music."
Consoletti said Massachusetts felt like a "great East Coast home" for Outloud because of the state's longtime commitment to LGBTQ+ people. Boston recently declared itself a "sanctuary city" for transgender people and the broader LGBTQ+ community.
"We as a community can't take a step back. We have to show a commitment to one another, to solidarity, to coming together and facing challenges," Consoletti said. "That's really what Outloud stands for. It is important to create spaces where community can thrive."
Other artists in Saturday's lineup include Flo Milli, Rebecca Black, G Flip, Frankie Grande, Oompa, Big Body Kweeng, Hannah Rad and Math3ca. Tickets can still be bought online, starting at $69.

Craig David on 7 Days, selling mixtapes, and his love of performing in Southampton
Craig David has a notoriously busy week, but luckily made time to talk to the Echo about his homecoming show this weekend. The Southampton local who shot to fame overnight in the early 2000s has long graced the RnB scene. He consistently champions is home city too, previously backing the bid for Southampton to be UK City of Culture and praising the pool of local musical talent. The 44-year-old singer, songwriter and DJ said he feels a 'flood of nostalgia' every time he reaches the roundabout at the top of The Avenue on approach to Southampton. 'The feeling of being home just hits every single time…being able to wrap that all up and bring it to the stage is important', he said. 'Specifically in Southampton, some of my tunes and songs mean a lot to people if I play them, for example my first song with Artful Dodger, that would mean a lot. 'People will say 'I remember when he did it on the mixtape and used to sell it at the barbers'. 'I am very excited and I never take the big hug and the love I get every time I come back to Southampton for granted.' David will be taking to the Summer Sessions stage on Guildhall Square on Saturday night, a big event that is proving popular year on year. READ MORE: Rag 'n' Bone Man opens Southampton Summer Sessions with a bang But for David, showcasing local talent is better than ever thanks to all the music venues in the city. He described the music industry as very 'London centric' in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He added: 'Growing up in Southampton I had the time and space to nurture my sound. 'We were on the pulse in being so close to London, which is why I think the music scene growing in Southampton was so poignant as it opened up the floodgates for musicians in other cities. 'The scene now in Southampton is thriving.' Speaking on his headliner gig on Saturday night, David said he is 'adamant' that he always wants to bring his classic songs to the stage, including 7 Days, the same way they were recorded. 'As it will be a TS5 DJ set, it will give me the freedom to interject with the original, do a remix, throw in an instrumental from another song, which is going back to what I did when I was DJ'ing on the south coast and making mixtapes in my bedroom', he said. And on the subject of 7 Days, it felt right to ask if, writing the song now, whether he would change any of the activities 25 years since its release. He said: 'That song lives in the space of me being 17 years old, looking out my bedroom window, thinking how my life would go down. 'It is the gift that keeps giving.' 'I was not being overtly vulgar in that song – I lived with my mum and had my grandma around so I needed it to have a filter and be cool', David joked.

Lorde Brings Down The ‘Hammer' With New Single
Lorde New Zealand singer Lorde has been in the public eye since she was a teenager, effectively growing up in the spotlight and coming into her own in front of millions of fans. Her upcoming fourth studio album Virgin is shaping up to be a treatise on discovering who you are and reconciling who that person is with what others — in this case, the world — might think of you. The recently released single 'Man of the Year' elaborated on that sentiment, and her latest single 'Hammer' gives a wider look into her psyche at this moment in her life and career. 'I burn and I sing and I scheme and I dance / Some days I'm a woman, some days I'm a man," she sings on the track. 'I might have been born again / I'm ready to feel like I don't have thе answers / There's pеace in the madness over our heads / Let it carry me on.' Much like the Polaroid photo on the album cover, Virgin is meant to represent a snapshot of the Kiwi crooner's life as she enters her late twenties. 'This is just me at this exact age and stage. It feels like a section of my favorites in my camera roll or something. Just like, 'These are the iconic moments from age 26 to age 28,'' she said on the Therapuss podcast. Ultimately, what came out of her hard work and deep introspection was her favorite project to date. '[This album] sort of took some bravery, actually,' she confessed. 'I've never loved anything I've made so much. It's so sick.' Lorde is supporting the new project with the Ultrasound World Tour, set to criss-cross North America and Europe later this year. Hit-making musicians Blood Orange, Empress Of, Nilüfer Yanya, and Oklou will join her on select dates throughout the tour. Virgin is out June 27. The Ultrasound World Tour kicks off Sept. 17 in Austin and wraps up Dec. 17 in Brooklyn.

Cardi B Is 'Outside' This Summer While Offset Is Letting The 'Bodies' Hit The Floor
Cardi B and Offset are going head-to-head for the charts as they both dropped new singles on Friday (June 20), within hours of each other. The estranged married couple — who've spent the past year making headlines over their pending split — delivered what felt like musical rebuttals from both sides of the divorce. Cardi came out swinging with 'Outside,' a long-teased release that lands as both a summer anthem and a bold declaration that she's moved on. It marks her first solo track of the year, delivered with her signature sound, razor-sharp bars, and lines that sound like clear shots at her ex. Over a bass-heavy beat, she reclaims her singleness with bars about being 'cuffed up too long,' and even calls out a 'good-for-nothing, low-down dirty dog' — a jab many believe is aimed at Offset. She also throws a petty jab hinting at her once rumored-romance with NFL star Stefon Diggs, who she now officially dates. She raps: 'Favorite player from your favorite team, he in my DM.' Offset, not one to let a moment pass quietly, released his own track 'Bodies' featuring JID just hours later. The song, which samples rock group Drowning Pool's 'Bodies' is equally braggadocious as it showcases a lyrical version of Offset that fans haven't heard in years. He raps: 'I'm uppin' my rank 'cause I got ni**as spanked, ni**a, shh, death or dishonor/ I think these ni**as forgot where I came from, 'cause I got mansion and mansions with lake fronts.' Social media lit up with hot takes and their side picked. One user wrote on X, 'Divorce really got Offset back in his bag. Cardi might've been the final boss he had to beat.' Others applauded Cardi, calling 'Outside' a career-reset that re-solidifies her place in the rap game post-breakup. The pair, who filed for divorce again in August, have had a history of public breakups and reconciliations. But this time, things are seemingly final. Cardi has moved on to Diggs, as Set has been spotted with a few women here and there. Speaking to Cardi's new relationship, Offset responded to a comment about the couple online that read, 'Offset punching the air,' with 'I'm happy for her !!' Whether the singles were planned or coincidental, the dual release has fans tuned in. Take a listen to both tracks above.
