Lady Iman lives up to reputation by completing hat-trick
The Ger Lyons-trained juvenile looked to face a stiff task on paper up against Aidan O'Brien's Simply Astounding, a Wootton Bassett filly out of Minding who had been very impressive on her debut.
However, the odds-on favourite was one of the first beaten, with Colin Keane on Lady Iman setting sail after Green Sense inside the final furlong, another unbeaten filly.
While it did take a while for Lady Iman to get on top, she always looked like getting there and crossed the line with three-quarters of a length to spare.
She is now 4-1 favourite with Paddy Power for the Albany and the same price for the Queen Mary.
'She came to me with a reputation and she's done everything easy,' said Lyons.
'Colin said she gets to the front and she idles, which is lovely. I asked the question where to now and Colin said 'wherever you want'.
'We'll sit down with Tony and Roger (O'Callaghan), it's all about the sire and doing the right thing by the filly going forward.
'You don't rule anything in or out. There are plenty of nice races here.
'People have to put guns to my head to get over there (Ascot). I'll do whatever I'm asked to do by the owners but at this moment in time, we'll sit back.
'She had Queen Mary written all over her but it's not the be all and end all.'
When asked if she was still improving, he added: 'You don't know until they don't. We're right and wrong about horses week in and week out.
'She's doing everything easy, so we'll keep taking it and keep taking what I can at two.
'Who knows, she could be the next filly to win a Phoenix.'

True Love took some time to work her way into the race as Zelaina set a scorching early pace, but she stayed on to real effect in the final furlong to beat 100-1 shot Flowerhead, with Patrick Biancone's American raider Lennilu third. 'She had to work really hard and the only place she was going to get company was out in the middle and Ryan did really well to let her go there. 'She's like a four-year-old really and Ryan thought she would be better when she steps up to six furlongs and she's a big, mature filly who walks around the ring like a four-year-old, she's so scopey – she's something to look forward to.' You would imagine she would have no problem going six furlongs, but she is No Nay Never and he's a big speed influence always. Flowerhead on her way to post at Royal Ascot (John Walton/PA) Flowerhead's trainer Charlie Clover was thrilled to secure a Royal Ascot placing in his first full season with a licence. He said: 'This is a huge start for us, we were struggling away for the first few months but it's really kicked into gear the past few weeks and it's been a delight to see the whole team find their feet. 'It's only a small team but it's been massively welcome to see these horses run to form and I can't thank (owner) Amo Racing enough, they've done so much for me and my career in helping me get off the ground. 'We liked her at home, we hoped she'd run a nice race but second was a bit of a dream. You can get greedy quite quickly and think you could have won it, who knows? 'I'm delighted to be in the frame and for her to run a big race for owners who are so important to me.' Biancone plans to head back to America with Lennilu following her run, saying: 'She's only a baby. 'I liked the fact she was the first one off the bridle and she was there at the end, which means she will go a bit further and that is great. We're happy, she fought all the way. 'We go home, we give her a break. The first plan was to try to bring her here which we did, she's Grade Two placed now which is good. She'll have a little vacation and we'll see her in Del Mar.' The Richard Hannon-trained Harry's Girl was pulled up during the race and it was later confirmed the filly had sustained a fatal injury.

He said: "We've just had this confirmed by Ascot - Harry's Girl did suffer a fatal injury. "Our thoughts go out to connections. "It's desperately sad for the Hannon team after they celebrated with their winner Haatem yesterday." The filly, who was part-owned by the trainer and Harry Kane's former agent Will Salthouse, was a big favourite at his Marlborough yard. Speaking before the race, the handler said: "She's a very precocious filly who won well on debut at the Craven meeting and did everything right bar win at York in the Listed Marygate Fillies' Stakes. "I really thought she'd win that day and she appeared home and hosed but got caught close home by a fast finisher on the other side of the track which she didn't see coming. "Her work has been very good, and she looks magnificent in her coat. "It's a typically competitive Queen Mary, but she's a strong traveller with plenty of boot and this race has been the plan all along so I'm hopeful of a bold show." Harry's Girl won on debut at Newmarket in April this year and then was a hugely promising second in a Listed contest at York last month. She was given huge odds of 66-1 for the Royal Ascot Group 2 but her trainer clearly thought a lot of her. Sadly she will never get the chance to fulfill that potential now.
