
Rubrik & Rackspace launch managed cyber recovery for clouds
Rubrik and Rackspace Technology have introduced the Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service to support enterprises' ability to recover quickly from ransomware attacks in public cloud environments.
The managed service, which brings together Rubrik's data protection and recovery capabilities with Rackspace's DevOps expertise, is positioned to simplify the process of restoring critical business workloads in public clouds within hours after an incident.
The announcement focuses on the increasing risks faced by organisations operating key workloads in public clouds, referencing the findings from Rubrik Zero Labs that 90% of global IT and security executives experienced cyber attacks within the past year. Organisations are said to face challenges such as limited visibility, inconsistent backup policies, slow recovery times, and fragmented tooling, particularly as their cloud environments grow more complex and distributed.

The Rackspace Cyber Recovery Service uses principles such as Infrastructure as Code and platform engineering to manage the restoration of workloads across multiple cloud providers. The process begins with a professional services-led consultation, during which Rackspace experts work with customers to modernise their recovery architecture and codify specific workflows tailored to their environment. This is then transitioned into a fully managed service, which includes ongoing validation, optimisation and operational monitoring.
The service enables what is termed Recovery as Code—providing rapid, repeatable and auditable recovery workflows that align with modern DevOps practices. By combining Rubrik's immutable data architecture and AI-driven threat detection, the service ensures the recovery of clean data into secure environments, while minimising operational disruption.

The service also offers advisory and professional services covering everything from regulatory alignment to the deployment of automated workflows for recovery.
According to the companies, the fully managed and automated approach is intended to address key shortfalls in traditional recovery methods, particularly the time it takes to restore business-critical workloads and the dependence on manual processes that can delay recovery and increase risk.
The strategic partnership intends to deliver recovery services that allow businesses to better align with their IT and regulatory requirements, notably through the use of cloud-native tools and automated workflows for consistent backup and efficient data restoration.

Pure Storage unveils Enterprise Data Cloud & flash upgrades
Pure Storage has announced the launch of its Enterprise Data Cloud platform and a series of flash hardware updates designed to address the demands of modern data management and high-performance workloads. Enterprise Data Cloud platform The newly introduced Enterprise Data Cloud (EDC) aims to simplify data and storage management for organisations, enabling a focus on business outcomes rather than infrastructure concerns. The platform, delivered by Pure Storage, facilitates centralised management of data across on-premises, public cloud, and hybrid environments through a unified control plane. According to the company, the EDC model is intended to combat the fragmentation and inefficiencies often associated with traditional storage solutions, which can result in silos and uncontrolled data sprawl. Pure Storage claims that their approach provides IT teams with agile, efficient, and simplified data governance on a broad scale. Charles Giancarlo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Pure Storage, said: "It's time to stop managing storage and start managing data. With AI increasing the potential value of enterprise data, and cyber-threats imperiling it, data storage architectures and the tools for managing data have not kept pace. At the core of the EDC is Pure Fusion, a capability which virtualises storage resources and provides autonomous management. Pure Fusion is embedded within storage arrays, allowing for self-discovery and centralised management across an array fleet, minimising the need for manual configuration. Automation and security enhancements The introduction also brings expanded automation options to Pure Fusion, including workload-aware provisioning of file, block, and object storage across the fleet, and automated workflow orchestration. These features are intended to minimise manual operations, reduce non-compliance risks, and improve application resilience. Workflow orchestration now leverages existing integrations with a range of third-party applications such as Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, ServiceNow, and Slack. Users can deploy pre-defined or custom workflows to automate storage, compute, network, database, and application configuration processes. Security is further strengthened through integrations with partners like Rubrik and CrowdStrike. Rubrik Security Cloud is now integrated with Pure Fusion, enabling automated tagging of backup snapshots and improved cyber recovery in response to detected threats. CrowdStrike's Falcon LogScale, combined with Pure Storage infrastructure, aims to provide high-performance, on-premises log analytics and threat detection. Additional enhancements include new disaster recovery options for VMware workloads via Pure Protect and the general availability of an AI Copilot that provides fleet-level insights across topics such as security, performance, and sustainability. Flash hardware updates In a parallel announcement, Pure Storage detailed upgrades to its FlashArray and FlashBlade product lines to support performance at larger scales and new storage workloads. The new FlashArray//XL R5 is designed to double Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS) per rack unit and increase maximum raw capacity by 50% compared to previous models. The FlashArray//ST supports latency-sensitive workloads, delivering more than 10 million IOPS per five rack units. Meanwhile, the upgraded FlashBlade//S features controller blades that Pure Storage claims boost performance by up to 30% over competitors in tasks like genome sequencing and AI-driven analysis. Pure Storage has also consolidated its approach to unstructured data by extending object support to FlashArray, allowing block, file, and object management within a single platform. Harbor Solutions launches in ANZ to boost cyber recovery
Harbor Solutions has announced its strategic entry into the Australian and New Zealand markets, extending its cyber resiliency and data recovery services in partnership with cybersecurity provider Rubrik. Steven Baker has been appointed as the ANZ Country Manager and will oversee the regional expansion. In his new role, Baker is responsible for identifying new opportunities, driving growth, and leading operations, which include sales, marketing, partnerships, and customer outcomes. Market context The decision to expand into Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) comes in response to increasing regional demand for robust cyber recovery services amid rising cyber threats. Recent research from Rubrik indicates that 92% of local organisations experienced a cyberattack in the past year. Of those affected, 78% reported partial harm to their backup and recovery options, and 35% said the attack was completely successful in this regard. As hybrid IT environments and cloud adoption accelerate, many organisations remain unprepared to address new vulnerabilities, spurring the need for effective cyber recovery models and strategies that span technology, people, process, and incident response. "Many organisations today are still using back up technology that was never intended to support them in the wake of a cyberattack," said David Rajkovic, Regional Vice President, Australia and New Zealand at Rubrik. "Companies need a cyber resilience strategy that allows them to rapidly recover data and operations from a specific point in time, as close to the intrusion point as possible." Strategic growth and leadership Harbor's entry into ANZ is the first phase of its wider APAC growth strategy. APAC leads with USD $11.3m average AI spend as global gap widens
New research from Rackspace Technology indicates global corporate investment in artificial intelligence (AI) has risen by 250% year-on-year, reaching USD $8.7 million on average, with Asia Pacific (APAC) spending highest at USD $11.3 million. The study, which surveyed over 1,400 IT decision-makers including 269 in APAC, highlights a growing gap between early AI adopters - termed "AI Leaders" - and organisations still developing their approach. Only 13% of respondents were classified as AI Leaders, but these organisations are already experiencing notable outcomes from their AI initiatives. Study findings Of the AI Leaders, 64% reported substantial benefits from AI deployment, compared to 32% of other organisations. The report found that these Leaders are three times more likely to have AI agents in production and to be effectively scaling their deployments compared to their peers. AI Leaders are described as organisations that have embedded artificial intelligence into their core business strategies. They scored highly across several criteria including customer experience, new product development, and employee productivity. The research shows that 95% of AI Leaders have secured strategic alignment on AI within their company, and about 75% have undertaken comprehensive workforce training for the use of AI tools and solutions. "While nearly every organisation is exploring how to implement AI, these forward-thinking companies are not waiting for the technology to mature—they have acted early, starting with achievable use cases to build momentum," said Srini Koushik, President of AI, Technology and Sustainability at Rackspace Technology. "By doing so, they have been able to test and refine their strategies, train their teams, and establish the governance and infrastructure needed for long-term success. Now, as others remain in the experimentation phase, these leaders are confidently scaling their initiatives and securing a lasting competitive advantage." The report notes that overall AI investment is accelerating, with respondents anticipating further increases over the coming years. Specifically, 90% of APAC participants expect their organisations to boost AI spending in the next five years. Investment is currently split evenly between developing in-house AI solutions and integrating third-party products. The average number of AI projects in production is also forecasted to rise by 33% in 2025. Additionally, 65% of APAC respondents anticipate a positive return on their AI investments within the next two years, with another 26% projecting returns within three to five years. Adhil Badat, Managing Director for Asia Pacific and Japan at Rackspace Technology, commented: "Across APAC, we're seeing a surge in AI adoption as businesses shift from experimentation to execution." "Organisations are no longer treating AI as a future bet, it's becoming a core part of their strategy today. From automating customer interactions to optimising supply chains, companies in the region are investing in AI to drive efficiency, unlock innovation, and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market." Shifting perceptions of AI Survey results suggest companies are viewing AI as more than a simple automation tool. A substantial 90% of respondents identified customer experience as a priority use case, with a parallel emphasis on boosting employee productivity. In APAC, customer experience was the most tracked key performance indicator (KPI) for AI initiatives at 51%, while revenue and profitability followed at 48%. The findings also reveal that 24% of businesses are applying AI to enhance or develop new products. Cybersecurity and AI Cybersecurity remains a key consideration; it is identified as a top-three risk factor for AI but, in a shift from previous years, is increasingly seen as an area where AI can be used to strengthen defences. According to respondents, cybersecurity is the most transformative AI application projected for the next three to five years, closely followed by process optimisation. AI Leaders address security challenges by embedding protocols and procedures into AI applications at the design stage. Scaling challenges Despite the surge in deployment, 72% of APAC organisations report ongoing challenges in scaling AI effectively. Infrastructure investment is cited as critical, with 79% agreeing that bolstering infrastructure is necessary to enable scalable and flexible AI initiatives. The report also notes that meeting stricter data privacy and regulatory standards will be a substantial challenge over the next few years for the majority of respondents. AI Leaders are more likely than others to favour hybrid cloud strategies for scaling their AI solutions, while other organisations utilise a mix of cloud deployment approaches. Competitive advantage The survey suggests that organisations in the AI Leaders category see artificial intelligence as more than an automation enabler - 87% consider it a fundamental competitive driver. The report highlights the wider gap developing between these leading organisations and others, with two-thirds of Leaders citing substantial benefits realised over the previous year. According to the research conducted by Coleman Parkes Research on behalf of Rackspace Technology, the findings represent feedback from decision-makers across multiple sectors, ranging from manufacturing to healthcare and financial services, with company sizes spanning from 1,000 to over 10,000 employees and annual revenues from USD $50 million to USD $15 billion.
