Teens seriously injured when motorcycle and car collide
Two teenage boys riding a reportedly stolen motorcycle have been seriously injured in a crash with a car in Cardiff.
About 2am on Sunday, officers from Lake Macquarie Police District on routine patrol drove across a crash between a motorcycle and Mazda 3 hatchback at the intersection of Main Road and Lowry Street, Cardiff.
Police rendered first aid to the occupants of the motorcycle until the ambulance arrived.
The rider and pillion passenger - both aged 16 - were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition. Both boys were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
The driver of the car - a 52-year-old man - was not injured and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing. A crime scene was established and is being examined by Crash Investigation Unit officers.
Inquiries established that the motorcycle was reported stolen from Edgeworth on May 11. The motorcycle had not been involved in a pursuit before the crash.
As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone who may have information about the crash - or has any available dashcam/mobile phone footage - to contact Belmont Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police appeal for witnesses after man killed and woman flown to hospital after car rollover in northern NSW
A ute rollover on a quiet country road has left a man dead and a woman in hospital after they were pulled from the wreckage. NSW Police rushed to the scene at about 3.50pm on Friday to reports the silver Ford Ranger had rolled near Elcombe Rd and Royal Oak Rd near Bangheet, about 90km east of Moree in northern NSW. The 56-year-old male passenger died at the scene despite paramedics giving him extensive CPR. The 47-year-old female driver was treated by paramedics and flown to John Hunter Hospital and is currently in a stable condition. Two other female passengers in the vehicle, aged 9 and 25, were uninjured. A crime scene was established that was later examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit. As inquiries continue, police would like to speak to people driving a green, early-model dual cab with a flat tray that was last seen travelling north on Elcombe Rd towards the township of Gravesend. Police are urging anyone with information about the crash, or who may have been in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage to contact Moree Police.
