Date for start of ticket sales for Boks vs Georgia match at Mbombela Stadium announced
The Lowveld's green and gold army can purchase tickets for the test match between the Springboks and Georgia at Mbombela Stadium from Friday, May 16.
The Boks are undefeated at Mbombela Stadium with a record of played five, won five.
The Springboks take on Italy in a two-test series in Pretoria (July 5) and Gqeberha (July 12), before meeting Georgia in Mbombela (July 19) in the Castle Lager Incoming Series.
The start to the Bok season not only represents an opportunity to see the back-to-back world champions in action locally, but also launches a year in which the Boks will be fighting to defend their number one world ranking to secure the most favourable draw for Rugby World Cup 2027.

Fans are urged to act quickly when tickets become available on May 16, as demand is expected to be exceptionally high following last season's 100% sellout of home Springbok matches.
Georgia are ranked 11th in the world, above Wales and Japan. They are renowned for their powerful, aggressive scrumming and are undefeated in 35 consecutive matches over eight seasons in the Rugby Europe Men's Championship.
The South Africa vs Georgia test at Mbombela Stadium will be only the third match between the two sides in history.
The first two matches between the nations were in Sydney, during the 2003 Rugby World Cup (SA 40 – Georgia 16), and in Pretoria in 2021 (SA 40 – Georgia 9), with the latter being played in an empty stadium due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The Boks have won all five of the matches they have played at Mbombela Stadium. In 2013, they defeated Scotland 30-17 and in 2014 beat Wales 31-30. In 2016, South Africa played against Argentina at Mbombela Stadium and won 30-23. They went on to win the 2022 match against the All Blacks 26-10 and also defeated Argentina 48-7 in 2024.

Sebastiaan Jobb (with ball) helped lead the Springbok Sevens 'A' squad to glory at the Rugby Africa Sevens tournament in Mauritius at the weekend. The Springbok Sevens 'A' side beat Madagascar 26-12 in the final of the Rugby Africa Sevens at the Labourdonnais Sports Club in Mauritius on Sunday afternoon to be crowned continental kings. The South Africans had enjoyed a tentative start to the tournament, with pool victories over Nigeria, Zambia and Burkina Faso on Saturday's first day. But they grew into the competition with every passing match, also accounting for last year's bogey team, Uganda on Sunday morning. They booked their place in Sunday's decider with a hard-fought 19-12 win over Zimbabwe's Cheetahs in the first semi-final, courtesy of tries from co-captains Mfundo Ndhlovu and Sebastiaan Jobb. That match was an extremely physical encounter that descended into an arm wrestle in the second half but the Springbok Sevens 'A' side – a blend of youth and experience – held their nerve, to prevail. The exciting Madagascar side had beaten Kenya in their semi-final to book their place in the decider. Ndhlovu had been a potent attacking weapon for the South Africans over the weekend, and was arguably the player of the tournament for Phillip Snyman's side. His class again shone through in the final, as did Jobb's and Ricardo Duartee's, with 'Tricky Ricky' often living up to his name in igniting South African attacks and dictating play.

When Conrad Walters, of Wanderers Club, crossed the Comrades Marathon finish line on June 8, it was not just the end of a race; it was the closing of a deeply personal chapter. This was his 10th Comrades, a milestone he had worked towards for years, but one he almost missed entirely. Training fell away. Motivation faded. But one thing stayed with him. He had to run this one for his dad. 'I knew I wasn't in my best shape. He battled stomach issues, muscle cramps, and moments of doubt, but he kept going. 'This was the run I am most proud of,' Walters said. 'It was not about speed; it was about heart.' Having first run Comrades in 2013, he had intended to reach his 10th race in 2023. A severe asthma attack put that on hold, but he returned in 2025, with more grit than preparation, finishing with more emotion than ever before. For Walters, Comrades is not only about the elite runners at the front. It lives in the determination of everyday South Africans who strive to balance work, family, and daily life.
