[UPDATED] Two men shot dead outside Cheras mall in second KL shooting incident
KUALA LUMPUR: Two men were gunned down outside a shopping mall in Cheras just after midnight today.
This marks the second fatal shooting in the capital in four days, following an incident in Brickfields where one man was killed and two others were injured at a restaurant on Jalan Tun Sambanthan on Friday.
Initial reports indicate that the two men were attacked by a group of suspects outside the mall along Jalan Loke Yew.
The victims were reportedly heading to a car parked within the mall's compound when they were attacked.
It is believed the suspects, who were wearing helmets, ran toward the victims and fired several shots at them.
Cheras police have been contacted for further details.
It was earlier reported that a man was killed and two others injured after they were shot while eating at a restaurant in Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Brickfields, on Friday.
In the 10.50pm incident, the three men, aged between 30 and 50, were dining with several friends when they were approached by two men on a motorcycle.
The two suspects then fired several shots at the group.
One of the victims succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene from gunshot wounds.
His body was sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for a post-mortem examination.
The other two victims are currently receiving treatment at UMMC. One sustained serious injuries while the other suffered minor wounds.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

He said checks revealed that the suspect, who is in his 60s, has a criminal record with seven cases and 11 drug-related cases. "The victim is in good condition and did not sustain any injuries. She was taken to Kepala Batas Hospital for a medical examination," he added. Anuar said that further investigations are ongoing. The case is being investigated under Sections 379A and 363 of the Penal Code.
