
Citizen pin high hopes on budget
The Karachiites on Tuesday expressed their hope that the federal government will present a pro-people budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 and provide them with relief to meet their daily expenses and create opportunities for the youth.
Safdar Ali, a citizen, talking to APP, said that he is a peon in a public sector institution and manages his routine expenses with difficulty.
He hoped that "The government will increase a good amount in the salaries of government employees in the budget," which will help him to meet his daily expenditures.
Anil Kumar, another citizen, said that he is a shopkeeper and sells edible items in his shop. He hoped that the prices of routine edible items would be brought down in the budget, as the government has already controlled inflation, to further provide relief to the people.
Samina Ahmed, a housewife, said that her husband works in a factory as a labourer and he (her husband) did not even get minimum daily wage amount announced by the government last year.
She urged the government authorities to increase the daily wage amount and get it implemented in factories and other organizations to provide relief to them.
Ahsan, a graduate answering a question, said that the government should create job opportunities for the young generation.

Highlighting Trump's positive statements on Pakistan, the PM called them encouraging steps toward long-term peace in South Asia. He stressed that sustainable peace could only be achieved through meaningful dialogue between Pakistan and India. Balochistan saves Rs16b via austerity measures
Balochistan Minister for Finance and Minerals Mir Shoaib Nosherwani said the provincial government has saved Rs16 billion by reducing non-essential expenditures, including refraining from the purchase of new vehicles under its austerity policy. He made these remarks while speaking to the media following the presentation of the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 in the Balochistan Assembly. He said the government is committed to adopting austerity measures by reducing non-developmental expenditures. He said in a move to address the longstanding concerns of government employees, the chief minister has formed a special committee led by Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar. The committee will review employee-related matters and formulate comprehensive recommendations. He said, "The committee will begin its work soon and offer practical solutions to the challenges faced by public sector employees." Minister Noserwani also praised the parliamentary decorum maintained in the Balochistan Assembly, highlighting the constructive role of both government and opposition members. "Balochistan Assembly has a proud tradition of respectful debate, and all members uphold the dignity of this house," he noted. Minister of state's house attacked in Bajaur
BAJAUR: The residence of Minister of State Mubarak Zeb Khan, located in the Bajaur district, was attacked early Saturday by unknown assailants with rockets; fortunately, no injuries were reported. Speaking to APP, Khan confirmed that the attack was carried out by unidentified individuals. 'Once again, my house was targeted at night with a rocket. Thankfully, no one was injured,' he said, adding, 'a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in connection with the incident.' He further stated that police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and to apprehend those responsible. 'I will also raise this matter with higher authorities to ensure concrete action against such incidents.' Citizens from various walks of life condemned the attack and expressed their support for him, hoping that those responsible would soon be identified and brought to justice. It may be noted that an IED was exploded on May 14 at the main gate of the same residence.
