Hearts have melted at a dog who recognized her name on TV and thought she was being "serenaded."
Hannah Veglas, owner of social-media marketing agency Hannah Grace Media, is from Boston, Massachusetts, and is the proud owner of rescue dog Sandra, aka Sandy.
"She was actually our ninth foster dog before we adopted her and made her a permanent family member," Veglas, who got the mixed breed from the Animal Rescue League of Boston, told Newsweek.
"She is a mix of 20 breeds, with yellow lab being a main one—although she's only 42 pounds," Veglas said. This is a far cry from the average Labrador retriever's weight of up to 80 pounds, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).
Sandra is a "foster fail," the term given to a dog who begins as a foster animal but who the owners cannot give up and instead adopt them permanently.
And in a video from Sandra's puppyhood, showcasing her adorable personality, it is clear why Veglas was unable to let her go.
In the clip, posted to TikTok account @sassysandramae on June 18, Veglas showed Sandra sitting on the sofa watching the TV, where 1978 musical comedy movie Grease is playing.
The classic film stars Olivia Newton-John as female protagonist Sandy, and Veglas captured the moment her puppy reacted to John Travolta singing about the character.

"That time my puppy, Sandy, thought John Travolta was singing directly to her," Veglas wrote across the clip.
As Travolta croons the hit "Sandy," the dog, who has been watching intently, suddenly jumps to her feet and moves to the other side of the sofa to get closer.
"Is he calling you?" Veglas says, as the puppy looks briefly at her before returning her attention to the TV.
Veglas wrote in the caption: "She thought THE John Travolta was serenading her," and told Newsweek: "In this video, it was her first time watching Grease.
"She was so responsive to it, now she practically begs for me to put it on the TV!"
Grease has become a big part of Sandra and Veglas's life together—the duo even dressed in matching outfits for Halloween, dressing as members of the Pink Ladies clique. And Sandra, naturally, wore a blonde wig as she went as Newton-John's character.

TikTok users loved the unusual video, watching it more than 1.3 million times, as one commenter wrote: "He was definitely singing to her."
"Well why wouldn't he be singing to her, she's a princess," another posted, as a third, also named Sandy, assured the pup: "It's OK Sandy, I went through this phase too."
And as one comment summed it up: "That is the most adorable thing I've ever seen."
Veglas said that, when this video was taken, they had never tried gaging Sandy's reaction to hearing her name on TV, but since then, they've done it multiple times, with Grease and the musical Annie, as the main character has a pet dog, Sandy.
In another clip later shared to TikTok, Sandy can be seen tilting her head back and forth at the TV, as Annie sings about her own dog. Veglas captioned that clip: "Big Annie fan too!"

Cruz Beckham Mocks Brooklyn Beckham's Career Amid Feud
After literal years of speculation, it seems like the rumored tension between Brooklyn Beckham, his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham, and the rest of the Beckham family has reached a boiling point. For context, David and Victoria Beckham share three sons: Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, along with a 13-year-old daughter named Harper Seven. In 2022, when Brooklyn married Nicola, there were rumors of a big fallout between Nicola and Victoria. And while Nicola denied this was the case, there have since been several signs suggesting that the Peltz Beckhams are still at odds with Brooklyn's side of the family. For starters, Brooklyn and Nicola didn't attend a single one of David's 50th birthday celebrations earlier this year, nor did they acknowledge David being awarded a long-awaited knighthood by King Charles III. On top of that, Brooklyn also snubbed his dad on Father's Day, which, if you know how active the Beckhams are on social media, is pretty shocking. Despite reports from People that there 'are tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family,' we don't have confirmation as to what might actually be going on between the two parties. Some sources claim that the rift stems from a dispute over Nicola and Brooklyn's wedding, while other insiders have speculated that it may have had something to do with Romeo dating one of Brooklyn's rumored exes. The rumored ex in question, Kim Turnbull — whom Romeo is no longer dating — recently denied that she was ever romantically involved with Brooklyn, so who knows. But, regardless of what the cause may be, Romeo and Cruz have been hinting that they may not be Brooklyn and Nicola's biggest fans. In May, the younger Beckham boys appeared to publicly mock Nicola on Instagram, and a few weeks later, Cruz posted a pointed IG tribute to his family, which many interpreted as a dig at Brooklyn's previous comments about how he will 'always choose' his wife. And now, Cruz seems to have made yet another dig towards his oldest bro — and this time it feels personal. On Sunday, Cruz, who's following in his mom's musical footsteps, uploaded a TikTok video of himself playing guitar and performing an unreleased song, titled 'For ya love.' In the comments section, one critic wrote, 'Are you going to stick with this job or going to become a race car driver next or something?,' to which Cruz bluntly replied, 'Wrong brother mate.' Now, in case you've forgotten, the person's comment was presumably in reference to the online mockery that Brooklyn has faced over the years for his varied and sometimes short-lived career pursuits. If you need a reminder, Brooklyn has dabbled in several different career fields, first starting as a hopeful soccer player before stepping back to try his hand at modeling. He then ventured over into the world of photography, memorably releasing a book of photos, called What I See. In 2017, Brooklyn seemed set on photography and began a four-year course at Parsons School of Design. However, he reportedly dropped out after one year, and the next thing we knew, he'd found his true calling as a chef. Despite previously saying he'd never taken a cooking class, Brooklyn has remained pretty dedicated to the culinary world. His ongoing chef era has led to an appearance on the Today Show, a web series called Cookin' with Brooklyn, a bottled Sake brand, a pop-up restaurant, and a hot sauce line called Cloud23. That said, his cooking pursuits have come with a fair amount of mockery, centered mainly around his relatively basic recipes. And with such a stacked resume already, Brooklyn recently threw a curveball by unveiling his latest venture in the world of Formula E motor racing, which is presumably what the commenter on Cruz's post was referring to. As it stands, Brooklyn has not acknowledged Cruz's comment, but we'll be sure to let you know if he does. In the meantime, I think David and Victoria should consider confiscating Cruz's phone...

Aunt Comes to Meet Third Niece but There's a Problem: 'Judging So Hard'
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A Gen Z woman's meeting with her newborn niece took an unexpected turn when she held her for the first time. In a clip posted by Julia on TikTok (@ju_milll), her 21-year-old sister holds her baby niece Blake with a panicked look on her face. "I handed baby over to hopefully catch a sweet moment, but it turned out so much funnier," Julia told Newsweek. Woman, 21, holding newborn baby with her two nieces watching. Woman, 21, holding newborn baby with her two nieces watching. @ju_milll When Blake starts to wriggle and cry, the woman squeals, "Why is she doing that?! What do I do?!" "POV: your sister comes to meet her third niece and aunt mode still hasn't been activated," the text overlay read. The clip then cuts to Julia's two older children: Scarlet, 4, and Laynie, 2, watching their aunt with the kind of judgment that showed they weren't exactly impressed with her parenting style. Even Julia's partner Matt turned around to see what all the commotion was about. In the caption, Julia joked: "Generational trauma starts now." According to the mom of three, her sister who was visiting home from TCU is the best aunt. "My [kids] are obsessed with her, she just gets nervous around babies," she said. While her hands may be shaky with a newborn, her bond with the kids is rock solid. Julia's sister, who owns an art-focused business called Cork and Canvas Co, has carved out her aunt niche in a more creative way—connecting with her nieces and nephew through painting and playful expression. "[She] really connects with my kids through art," Julia told Newsweek. The clip, which has been viewed 1.7 million times, received over a thousand comments from other users with their own stories of nervous uncles and the universal chaos of handing a baby to someone who hasn't quite figured out which end is which. "They're all looking at her like, girl, you've had the practice... what's the issue?" one user commented. "Glad I'm [not] the only one," another said. Many others found the kids' reactions to their aunt's faux pas hilarious. "The older sister is judging so hard," one user laughed. "That side eye is genetic," another wrote. "Girls got the look from dad that's for sure," said another. Do you have any viral videos or pictures that you want to share? We want to see the best ones! Dog Owner Asks Groomer For 'The Standard' Cut, Unprepared For New Look
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Many of us have had our fair share of bad haircuts over the years, and now Lulu the toy caboodle has also joined that list after a very unfortunate trip to the groomers. Dog owner Amit Sharma, 26, shared a hilarious post on TikTok (@thisisasharma) showing what Lulu looked like when he dropped her off at the groomers, before revealing the drastic comparison of the dog he picked up. Lulu's thick coat of fluffy brown fur was cut right back to a very short layer all over, except for the top of her head which remained hysterically voluminous. Her new look certainly caught Sharma by surprise, as he told Newsweek that it took him about "five minutes to process her hair" when he saw it. Sharma, of Sydney, Australia, said: "I was shocked in a funny and weird way because I just knew my mom would've been even more shocked. I think I'm banned from taking her for a haircut again now." Lulu the caboodle before and after going to the groomers for "the standard" haircut. Lulu the caboodle before and after going to the groomers for "the standard" haircut. @thisisasharma / TikTok Lulu's winter haircut may not have gone quite to plan, but social media users can't get enough of her unexpected new do. Since the comparison was shared on TikTok, it's gone viral with over 1.7 million views and more than 155,800 likes at the time of writing. Thankfully for Lulu, her fur has already started to grow back and she's looking "much better now" according to Sharma. However, next time he takes her to the groomers, he'll be sure to be more specific about what trim she needs, rather than just simply saying "the standard" like last time. Sharma didn't realize it was even possible for dogs to have bad haircuts prior to this—but he certainly knows it now. "She was quiet for 2 days after. I think she saw some things inside the hair salon," he told Newsweek. Although internet users may have been laughing at Lulu's expense (we've all been there), Sharma is delighted that his sweet pup could bring a smile to so many people's faces. After all, Lulu could easily pull off any new hairstyle anyway. Since the post went viral in May, plenty of TikTok users took to the comments section to laud Lulu's completely new appearance. This has led to more than 740 comments on the TikTok post so far, with some even insisting that it must be two different dogs. One comment reads: "Looking like he might go sign the Declaration of Independence." Another TikTok user wrote: "You sure that's the same dog?" Another person joked: "His villain origin story." While one commenter added: "The crimes that were committed!" Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? We want to see the best ones!
