HM the Sultan exchanges greetings with Emir of Qatar, President of Iran
Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik exchanged greetings over a phone call with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar on the occasion of the advent of Eid Al Adha.
During the telephonic call, His Majesty the Sultan expressed his best wishes of good health, welfare and happiness to Sheikh Tamim. His Majesty also wished the people of Qatar further accomplishments and development, wishing all Muslims all over the world constant stability and progress.
On his turn, Sheikh Tamim expressed his best wishes of good health and wellbeing to His Majesty the Sultan and for the return of this and similar occasions for many years to come.
Meanwhile, His Majesty the Sultan also exchanged greetings over a telephonic call with President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During this call, His Majesty expressed his heartfelt sentiments and best wishes to President Pezeshkian, praying to Allah the Almighty for the return of this blessed occasion on President Pezeshkian and the people of his country while they realize aspirations of further progress and prosperity.
On his turn, President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed his sincere greetings to His Majesty the Sultan, wishing His Majesty and the Omani peoples continued happiness, with enduring joy for all Islamic nations.

Oman secures return of citizens, other nationals via Turkiye
Muscat — As part of ongoing national efforts to facilitate the repatriation of the Omani citizens from the Islamic Republic of Iran, and based on joint coordination between the Foreign Ministry, relevant Omani authorities and the Sultanate of Oman's missions abroad, the Ministry announced the implementation of the fourth phase of its evacuation plan. Today, Oman received 294 evacuated Omani citizens at Muscat International Airport via the Republic of Turkiye, along with a number of nationals from other countries. The Foreign Ministry expresses its deep appreciation for the integrated efforts of all relevant national authorities, particularly the support teams and field committees, as well as the constructive cooperation with the friendly Turkish authorities, which contributed to the smooth and safe execution of this phase. The Ministry also affirms its commitment to proceeding with the subsequent phases of the evacuation plan through continuous coordination with parties concerned inside and outside Oman, ensuring the safety and secure return of citizens to their homeland. With this phase, the total number of Omani citizens evacuated so far has risen to 1,188, while the number of other nationals whose return was facilitated stands at 281. This reflects Oman's humanitarian considerations and ongoing coordination efforts with brotherly and friendly nations.

"Iran wants to speak to us, not Europe": US President Trump
Washington, DC: US President Donald Trump on Friday dismissed a European diplomatic initiative aimed at de-escalating the conflict between Israel and Iran, asserting that Tehran prefers direct talks with Washington instead of engaging with European powers, CNN reported. "Iran didn't want to speak to Europe, they want to speak to us," Trump told reporters, expressing scepticism over Europe's ability to mediate in the conflict. He also acknowledged the limited influence the US has over Israel's military campaign, stating, "Israel is doing well in terms of war, and I think you would have to say Iran is doing less well. It's a little hard to get someone to stop." As the Israel-Iran war entered its eighth consecutive day with both sides exchanging missile attacks, foreign ministers from Britain, France, and Germany held a three-hour meeting with Iranian officials in Geneva. The talks ended without any breakthrough, with European leaders urging continued diplomacy to prevent wider regional escalation, CNN reported. Despite stepping back earlier from threats of a US military strike and creating a two-week window for negotiations, Trump reiterated his intention to act as a "peacemaker." However, he maintained that only direct talks between the US and Iran could lead to a resolution. "Europe is not going to be able to help," he said. European officials encouraged Iran to return to nuclear negotiations with the US, but Iran's top diplomat, Abbas Araghchi, refused, saying diplomacy would only resume "once the aggressor was held accountable for the crimes committed," CNN reported. On Friday, Iran launched a barrage of missiles targeting several Israeli cities, including Haifa and Beersheba. Earlier in the day, a missile damaged multiple buildings in Beersheba, including a medical center that had already been largely evacuated. Later, one of about 35 missiles struck an abandoned building in downtown Haifa, causing heavy damage to nearby structures, including a mosque. In response to the Iranian attacks, Israel announced that it had carried out retaliatory strikes on missile factories and a research facility linked to Iran's nuclear program, further escalating the hostilities. Amid the rising violence, President Trump signaled reluctance to pressure Israel into halting its offensive on Iran during ongoing diplomatic efforts. "Action was so swift that we cannot express our gratitude in words": Indian evacuee from Iran
New Delhi: A fresh batch of Indian nationals evacuated from Iran landed safely in Delhi on Saturday under Operation Sindhu, as part of the Government of India's ongoing efforts to bring back its citizens from conflict-hit regions. The Indian Embassy in Tehran coordinated the safe movement of students, while the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) ensured their safe return. An Indian national who was evacuated from Iran, Zaffar Abbas Naqvi, recounted how he and his family stayed indoors initially after hearing about the attack on Iran. They later moved to Mashhad, which also came under attack, prompting them to contact the Indian government. Naqvi praised the swift action taken by the government and thanked Prime Minister Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath for their support. "Everything was going fine, but one day we heard that Iran had been attacked. We stayed indoors for some time. We then moved to Mashhad. Soon Mashhad came under attack. We then contacted the Indian government. The action was so swift that we cannot express our gratitude in words. I want to thank Modi ji and Yogi ji who made all the arrangements for us...," said Naqvi. Kulsum, an Indian national evacuated from Iran, expressed relief at being back home safely, saying the situation in Iran was worrisome and the government's help was invaluable. Speaking to ANI, Kulsum said, "The situation in Iran is not good. We were very worried. The government helped us a lot and brought us back home safely." Another Indian national who was evacuated from Mashhad, Mohammad Ali Qazim expressed gratitude towards the Indian government for their help in crossing the border and returning home safely. He mentioned that the situation in Iran, especially in Tehran, was not good. "I am coming from Mashhad. It feels very good to return home... We had gone on a religious journey. The situation there is not good, especially in Tehran... Indian government helped us a lot in crossing the border and bringing us to India. The UP government is also helping us a lot by taking us back home..." he said. The operation continues to bring relief to families across India, with coordinated efforts from both the Central and State governments ensuring the safe return of citizens amid the ongoing tensions in the region. Earlier, chants of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'Hindustan Zindabad' echoed through Delhi Airport late Friday night as a special flight carrying 290 Indian nationals evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu touched down. Emotional returnees, including students and religious pilgrims, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian government for ensuring their safe return amid the escalating Israel-Iran conflict. The special flight landed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport at 11:30 PM IST on Friday night and was received by Secretary (CPV & OIA) Arun Kumar Chatterjee. Randhir Jaiswal, a spokesperson with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), said in a post on X, "Operation Sindhu flight brings citizens home. Evacuated 290 Indian nationals from Iran, including students and religious pilgrims, by a charter flight. The flight arrived in New Delhi at 2330 hrs on 20 June and was received by Secretary (CPV & OIA) Arun Chatterjee." He added, "The Government of India is grateful to the Government of Iran for the facilitation of the evacuation process."
