Rex Heuermann's pal describes his infamous basement gun room with 279 firearms: ‘One of only four people' to see it
Creepy alleged serial murderer Rex Heuermann was obsessed with firearms and kept a serious weapons cache in a concrete basement room, which almost nobody was allowed to see.
However, one of the few admitted was his friend David Jimenez, a fellow weapons enthusiast who used to go with hulking Heuermann to the firing range.
'I was in that famous 'gun room' several times. He told me, 'You're one of only four people ever to be in this room'. And I said, 'Wow, okay, I'm privileged',' said Jimenez, who appears in new Peacock documentary 'The Gilgo Beach Killer: House of Secrets.'

'Heuermann has a fascinating collection, and knows everything about each gun. When it was used, if it was altered, he's super knowledgeable when it comes to World War I, World War II, the Korean War, anything with firearms. I was fascinated by that, because I am too.
'And its ironic, because if he did do these killings, it doesn't appear he used a firearm,' Jimenez added to The Post.
After Heuermann was arrested in 2023, leading to him being charged with the murders of seven sex workers, police raided the family home and recovered 'approximately 279 weapons' in the 'cluttered' residence, including 'quite a few long guns' and 92 handgun permits.
Suffolk Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison told CBS New York at the time the vault had a large iron door. Authorities later said some of the weapons were there illegally without a permit.

The family petitioned to get them back in 2023 so they could sell them, although its unclear if that happened or if they are still in police custody.

Heuermann's wife, Asa Ellerup, and two grown-up children are not thought to have been allowed in the gun room.
Jimenez clarified that while the number of firearms his pal owned sounds like a lot, for a serious collector it was in no way unreasonable.
'He's been collecting since he was 18 years old and kept on adding. Maybe 90% of them never got shot. A lot of them were just pieces for the collection.
'In the gun world, many collectors will have as many as they can afford. And then they gain value, so it's a good investment. An interest and a hobby.'
Heuermann also stands accused of dumping the remains of the seven people he is charged with murdering across Long Island in a bloody spree between 1993 and 2011. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him and is currently awaiting trial.

FBI operation arrests 244 child predators
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — An FBI operation in North Texas ended with 244 people being charged and arrested for crimes of child pornography and sex trafficking, according to a CBS News article. The head of the Dallas FBI office noted that social media isn't the only method sex offenders use, but online gaming systems as well. While the operation successfully took hundreds of child predators out of the equation, authorities say it's a year-round problem, urging families to use parental controls on devices, and be aware that there are many more still out there. 'The trauma inflicted by these crimes runs deep, affecting not only the victims, but also their families and entire communities. With every arrest made and every child protected, the operation moves us closer to a safer community.' said Garland Police Chief Jeff Bryan in an FBI report. Hours after a Minnesota state lawmaker and her husband were fatally shot in their home, Vance Boelter, the man charged by authorities for the killing, texted his wife instructions to prepare for the worst, according to an affidavit unsealed on Friday. Boelter had sent a message in their family group chat stating 'something to the effect of they should prepare for war, they needed to get out of the house and people with guns may be showing up to the house,' FBI agent Terry Getsch wrote in the affidavit. Getsch added that Boelter and his family were 'preppers' — people who go to extreme lengths to prepare for catastrophic events that could require survival skills and stockpiles of supplies.

Bongino announces FBI apprehended 449 child predators, rescued 224 kids in first 3 months as deputy director
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced on Saturday that during his and Director Kash Patel's first three months in office, the agency conducted large-scale sex predator operations, made multiple foreign intelligence and FBI "most wanted" arrests, and aided partners in immigration enforcement. In an X post, Bongino said two child sex predator stings resulted in the rescues of hundreds of children. Operation "Restoring Justice" apprehended 205 child sex predators and 764 purveyors, while rescuing 115 children, he said. A separate venture, Operation "Soteria Shield," resulted in the apprehension of 244 child predators, and 109 children were rescued. "This is just the beginning," Bongino wrote in the post. "If you're preying on children, we are coming for you." He added the FBI was making process on a number of high-profile cases, including the COVID-19 cover-up, the Dobbs leak, and the DNC pipe bomb investigation, and located and apprehended three of the FBI's top ten "most wanted." Bongino said "multiple" foreign intelligence targets engaged in illegal activities were also arrested. Amid the accomplishments, he said numerous personnel changes were made to the leadership of the FBI and the agency reorganized its structure to ensure the mistakes of the past are corrected, penalized and not repeated. "We are remaining hyper-vigilant in protecting the Homeland given the current global climate, while we deal with investigations related to the rioting, the Washington DC murders, the Palm Springs bombing, the Boulder attack, the Minnesota murders, and our daily case work," according to Bongino. The FBI also apprehended, imprisoned, and deported thousands of illegal immigrants in coordination with federal partners. More than 700 anti-ICE riot arrests were made in coordination with state and federal agents, as the FBI poured through data in pursuit of more bad actors. "We are not done," Bongino said. "We are in the process of identifying and moving in on those who threw rocks at law enforcement officers and damaged property. I told you we would not forget. I wasn't kidding. . . . We told you that the rioting was not going to slow us down. It has not. We are fully engaged." Though the FBI acknowledges there is more work to be done, he said to stay tuned on disclosures and the public corruption fronts. "For those who have been patient with us, thank you," Bongino said. "For those who are out of patience, thank you, too. Believe me, we understand. God bless America, and all those who defend Her."
