Indonesian defence officials visit India Pavilion, DRDO stall at Indo Defence exhibition in Jakarta

New Delhi [India], June 14 (ANI): The Inspector General of Indonesia's Ministry of Defence, Lt Gen Rui Duarte, and Vice Admiral (Retd) Prof Dr Amarulla Octavian, Vice Chairman of Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), visited the India Pavilion and DRDO stall at Indo-Defence 2024 exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) participated in the Indo-Defence 2024 exhibition in Jakarta, Indonesia, from June 11 to 14, as part of the India Pavilion. The event provides a platform for DRDO to showcase India's cutting-edge defence technologies from its defence R&D powerhouse.
In a post on X on Tuesday, DRDO shared information and attached a video showcasing some of its cutting-edge technologies, such as ASTRA MK-I, Remotely Operated Vehicle-Daksh, Low Frequency Dunking Sonar (LFDS-X), Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C), Wheeled Armoured Platform (Whap), Varunastra Heavy Weight Torpedo, and Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile.
DRDO shared the details, posting that the India Pavilion, where its technologies are showcased, is located at Hall F-46, JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.
Earlier, in line with the government's vision to establish a robust defence industrial ecosystem with the participation of both public and private sectors, Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE), a DRDO laboratory located in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra, has taken a major step forward by transferring technologies of nine systems to 10 industries.
The licensing agreements were handed over in the presence of the Secretary of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, Dr Samir V Kamat, during an event organised at VRDE on June 7, according to the Ministry of Defence.VRDE also signed an MoU with COEP Technological University, Pune, to collaborate on cutting-edge technologies and emerging areas. The Barak air defence system is an advanced, short to medium-range missile defense system developed by Israel to protect naval vessels and land targets from UAVs, cruise missiles and aircraft. The Barak-8 missile system, also known as MR-SAM, was co-developed by India's DRDO and Israel's IAI. The DRDO developed critical components such as the dual-phase rocket motor. Foreign investors infuse ₹1209 cr in Indian equities this week, net outflow in June stands at ₹4192 cr: NSDL

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 21 (ANI): Foreign investment in the Indian equity market remained positive during the week from June 16 to June 20, though the net inflows declined compared to the previous week, as per the latest data released by the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL). According to the data, foreign investors made net inflows worth ₹ 1,209 crore in Indian equities this week. The inflows were largely supported by significant buying activity on Wednesday and Friday. Market experts attributed this trend to foreign participation in several block deals offered during the week, along with notable inflows on Friday due to the FTSE rebalancing. Siddhartha Khemka, Head Research, Wealth Management, Motilal Oswal Financial Services told ANI "FPI inflows this week has been driven by buying seen in several blocks offered during the week as well as large inflows on Friday due to FTSE rebalancing. Overall Indian economy stands strong driven by healthy economic growth multi year low inflation, rate cut by RBI as well as prospects of a above normal monsoon". Despite the positive movement this week, foreign portfolio investment (FPI) flows for the month of June so far continue to remain in the negative. As of June 20, the net outflows by foreign investors stood at ₹ 4,192 crore. However, this is an improvement from the previous week (ending June 13), when net outflows were higher at ₹ 5,402 crore. This reduction in outflows reflects some signs of stabilization in FPI sentiment. Khemka added that the recent inflows are being driven by India's strong economic fundamentals. These factors are collectively boosting investor confidence and encouraging selective foreign investment, even amid global uncertainties. Looking ahead, he suggested that both global and domestic factors will influence FPI trends in the coming week. Key global triggers include geopolitical developments, fluctuations in crude oil prices amid tensions in middle east, and the approaching deadline for the imposition of US reciprocal tariffs. On the domestic front, important drivers will be macroeconomic indicators, institutional buying support, and sector-specific triggers such as monsoon progress, consumption trends, and infrastructure push. These elements are expected to determine stock specific movements and FPI behaviour in the short term. Earlier in May, the net foreign portfolio investment (FPI) inflows remained in positive and stood at ₹ 19,860 crore, making May the best-performing month so far this year in terms of foreign investment. The previous months' data also showed that FPIs had sold stocks worth ₹ 3,973 crore in March. In January and February, they had sold equities worth ₹ 78,027 crore and ₹ 34,574 crore, respectively. Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman asks officials to improve refund, registration of GST

File photo: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman (Picture credit: ANI) NEW DELHI: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday asked senior tax officials to prepare plans to improve parameters for GST registration, refund processing, and grievance redressal. During an interaction with senior officials under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, FM also asked officials to speed up processing of GST and customs refunds, as well as reduce dwell time at ports, airports, and inland container depots for import and export consignments. She noted that faster cargo clearance is crucial to enhancing India's global trade competitiveness. FM also called for the speedy closure of investigations and sought a detailed analysis of detection and recovery so that gap between the two can be reduced. "At the same time, the finance minister emphasised the need for preventing tax evasion and wrongful input tax credits claims," said an official statement after FM's meeting with principal chief commissioners and directors general of CBIC. She asked for the GST registration process to be made "easier, seamless, and more transparent" through use of technology and risk-based parameters. To reduce registration-related rejections and delays, she also suggested an outreach campaign. Emphasising taxpayer trust, she called for a targeted and sustained focus on grievance redressal, ensuring the timely resolution of queries and complaints through improved systems and accountability. Taking note of pending disciplinary matters, the minister directed that disciplinary proceedings against the officials at different levels be concluded expeditiously in a time-bound manner. CBIC was also asked to fill all vacant posts at the earliest across various levels to strengthen field formations and enhance administrative efficiency.
