Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray should be No. 2 in franchise history in 2 stats in 2025
With a decent season, Murray can move in to second place all-time in team history in passing yards and touchdown passes. Quarterback Kyler Murray enters his seventh NFL season in 2025 and has been one of the Arizona Cardinals' most productive quarterbacks in their history. He ranks third in franchise history in passing yards and touchdown passes. He should move into the No. 2 spot this coming season. In his career, Murray has 19,498 career passing yards and 115 touchdown passes. No. 2 on the franchise all-time list in both categories is Neil Lomax, who had 22,771 passing yards and 136 touchdown passes. For Murray to move into second place and pass Lomax, he will need 3,274 passing yards. Outside of 2022 and 2023 when he missed 15 games between the two seasons because of his torn ACL, he has surpassed that passing total. He needs 22 touchdown passes in 2025 to pass Lomax. He had 21 last season and 26 and 24 in 2020 and 2021. How much more does he need to be first all-time in team history? Jim Hart, who played for the Cardinals from 1966-1983, had 34,639 passing yards and 209 touchdown passes. Murray needs 15,142 passing yards, which would require an average of 3,786 passing yards over four seasons. He needs 95 touchdown passes, which would require nearly 24 touchdown passes a year on average over four years. Those are certainly achievable goals, but it will mean that he not only plays well statistically but also leads the Cardinals to the postseason. Without that, it will be tough for him to be their starter for another four seasons. But as for passing Lomax, that should happen this year. He is already No. 2 in franchise history in pass completions with 1,864. Hart is No. 1 with 2,590. Shilo Sanders clowns brother Shedeur over speeding ticket drama
Shilo did Shedeur dirty. The middle Sanders son poked fun at his older brother in a new video — part of his 'Tampa Food Tour' YouTube series — when he made a joke about Shedeur's recent issues with speeding in Ohio. In the clip, Shilo is crossing a street in Tampa when he takes the jab at the Browns rookie quarterback. Advertisement Getty Images 'We out here in Tampa. We gotta be careful crossing the street, especially if Shedeur is out here,' Shilo said in the clip before making himself laugh. Shilo was, of course, referencing Shedeur's recent issues with speeding tickets, which made headlines last week. Advertisement Shedeur was stopped and cited for going 101 mph, 41 miles over the posted speed limit, on June 17 in a Cleveland suburb and had been stopped two weeks before that in another stop, where he was cited for 91 mph in a 75 mph zone. A spokesperson for the Browns told that Shedeur was 'taking care of the tickets' and that the team had addressed the citations with him. The Philadelphia Phillies' strongest source of struggle this season has been their bullpen, punctuated by blown saves early in the campaign and a lack of efficiency since then. An 80-game suspension for Jose Alvarado, one of the team's most consistent go-to relief pitching options, certainly has not helped things. Advertisement Those struggles have not proved to be too costly, though, as the Phillies possess the second-best record in the National League (46-30), which is also the third-best in baseball. Because of this, the Phillies are expected to be buyers ahead of the trade deadline, with relief pitching serving as a high priority for their front office. Yahoo Sports' Russell Dorsey sees the Phillies as a team that can contend for some of the top relievers other franchises put on the trading block. He considers the Phillies a potential destination for St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley, a star player on a team still in the thick of the playoff race. Dorsey also believes the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees could be strong fits for Helsley. "But as with [Emmanuel] Clase, there have been some struggles for the Cardinals' closer this season. Helsley is 3-0 with a 3.96 ERA over, but he has a 5.14 ERA over his past seven outings. A big reason for that is hitters' success against his fastball. The pitch is typically unhittable, but batters are hitting .400 against Helsley's four-seamer this season. Advertisement "There might be some cause for concern with the Cardinals' closer, but Helsley isn't the first reliever to go through struggles. And with his track record being what it is, a contender might well believe that a few tweaks and a change of scenery could be just what Helsley needs." Helsely has spent the entirety of his seven-year MLB career with the Cardinals, the team he represented in both the 2022 and 2024 All-Star Games.
