BJP slams Gehlot for remarks on RSS at Barmer rally
Jaipur: Senior BJP members, including party state president Madan Rathore, former state president Satish Poonia and former leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore, launched a counteroffensive against former Congress CM Ashok Gehlot over his statements on the RSS in a public rally in Barmer on Monday.
Madan Rathore, reacting to Gehlot's claim that RSS does not respect the national flag, said, "Gehlot's statement shows his ignorance. During the earlier period, hoisting the national flag was allowed only on govt buildings. Since the Supreme Court verdict in the Jindal case, the national flag is hoisted at RSS headquarters too. Congress is distorting the facts to attack nationalist institutions."
Poonia said, "The party that once demanded proof (of surgical strikes) from the Indian Army is now holding public meetings to question national security operations.
Whenever the country unites in the face of adversity, Congress plays petty politics. This dual character is in Congress DNA, which is why it stands rejected across the nation."
Rajendra Rathore highlighted what he called Congress's "double standards" by referencing a 2013 incident during the UPA government's tenure. He pointed out that when Pakistani soldiers beheaded an Indian soldier on January 8, 2013, the then-Congress government neither conducted retaliatory strikes nor took any punitive action.

New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nishikant Dubey slammed Rahul Gandhi on Sunday, questioning the motives of the Congress leader to encourage learning English rather than local languages while also alluding to the 'hypocrisy' of opposing the National Education Police (NEP) 2020 for language choice stating that the 1986 NEP had similar goals. 'Rahul Gandhi ji your investigative advisor is hell bent on destroying you, this is the education policy of 1986 given by your father to the country, in this, your father is promising the country to promote Hindi, teach Sanskrit language and translate English into regional languages. This same education policy is almost in place now. Students should also grow with regional languages, changes in this have been made by Prime Minister Modi ji in 2020,' Dubey said in a post on X in Hindi. He said that while countries such as Russia, China, France, Germany, Japan and, Arab countries were 'proud of their language,' the former Congress president is proud of English 'like slaves.' 'Russia, China, France, Germany, Arab countries, Japan, Korea all are proud of their language and it is developed, why are you proud of English like slaves, we are proud of Santhali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, Malayalam, Hindi, Sanskrit,' Dubey's post read. Dubey shared screenshots purportedly of the 1986 NEP, which stated 'the policy emphasises the adoption of regional languages as the media of instruction at the university stage; vigorous effort at implementation of the three language- formula; improvement in the linguistic competencies of students at different stages of education; provision of facilities for the study of English and other foreign languages; development of Hindi as the link of Sanskrit at the university stage...' Dubey's post was made in response to another post by Rahul Gandhi where he supported people, especially people from marginalised backgrounds, learning English. He said that learning the language could be a stepping stone to equality, more job opportunities, which is what the BJP-RSS does not want. 'It is not an English dam, it is a bridge. English is not shame, it is power. English is not a chain - it is a tool to break the chains. BJP-RSS don't want poor kids of India to learn English - because they don't want you to ask questions, move ahead, and become equal,' the Congress leader said in a post on X. While also highlighting that every language is useful and beautiful for its culture, knowledge, and soul, the party leader added, 'In today's world, English is as important as your mother tongue - because it will provide employment and boost your confidence. Every language of India has soul, culture, knowledge. We have to cherish them - and at the same time teach English to every child. This is the path to an India that competes with the world, that gives every child an equal opportunity.' The Congress leader's remarks were in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks, where he said that the languages of India are 'ornaments of our culture,' and to understand the land's history, dharma cannot be done in foreign languages. Fardow is Iran's main enrichment location for uranium enrichment to 60 per cent. According to a CNN report, the US likely used six B-2 bombers to drop a dozen GBU-57 A/B 'bunker buster' bombs, also known as Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOP), on the Fordow nuclear site, which is Iran's main location for uranium enrichment. A US official also told CNN that a full payload of bombs was dropped on his first public remarks following the strikes, President Trump warned that further action could be taken if Tehran fails to agree to a satisfactory peace settlement. "Ramifications for entire world, specifically for India," says former diplomat after US strikes three nuclear sites in Iran
New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): After the US and Israel targeted three nuclear sites in Iran, former Indian diplomat Mahesh Sachdev on Sunday said the situation could have severe global repercussions, including for India. Sachdev stated that much depends on whether Iran decides to retaliate. Sachdev added that the strikes could lead to more US attacks or push Iran to restart its nuclear program, which would have implications for global peace and India's interests in the Middle East. Speaking to ANI, Mahesh Sachdev said, '... A lot would depend on whether Iran decides to carry out its threatened retaliation for such an action. It will require a slightly longer-term assessment of whether the three sides in question have been totally destroyed, as President Trump mentioned... If it is not confirmed, it might involve further American raids, or might involve Iran repledging itself to exercise its nuclear option. Either way, it has ramifications for the entire world and specifically for India because India has a well-known stake in stability and peace in the Middle East for reasons of oil dependence, presence of Indian diaspora and remittances, trade, as well as investments.' Meanwhile, Trump announced on Sunday that the US had conducted 'massive precision strikes' on the nuclear sites in Iran. In his remarks after the strike, the US President warned Iran of retaliation if peace is not achieved soon. The underground site at Fordow and the larger Natanz plant were Iran's two primary uranium enrichment facilities, out of which Natanz had already been hit by Israel with smaller weapons earlier in the week, the New York Times reported. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that history will record the US President who 'acted to deny the world's most dangerous regime, the world's most dangerous weapons.' Iran, in a statement, acknowledged that the sites had been hit and called it 'savage aggression--an act in violation of international laws', stressing particularly the NPT. It alleged 'indifference and complicity' by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) of indifference and complicity and said that it expects the international community to condemn these actions. The conflict between Israel and Iran entered its ninth day on Saturday, with the US now joining in support of Israel. The conflict started after Israel, on June 13, launched a massive airstrike on Iranian military and nuclear sites, dubbed 'Operation Rising Lion.' In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large-scale drone and missile operation, 'Operation True Promise 3', targeting Israeli fighter jet fuel production facilities and energy supply centres.
