Queen's Qatar expands secondary school, welcoming Year 10 students in September 2025
Doha, Qatar – Queen's Qatar, a premium British international school that delivers academic excellence and a holistic, values-driven education, has announced the expansion of its Secondary School, with admissions now open for Year 10 students in the 2025/26 academic year.
Queen's Qatar follows the English National Curriculum, augmented by the school's distinctive Fusion Curriculum in Key Stage 3 — a thematic and internationally-minded approach that builds critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration alongside core academic skills. Together, these programmes deliver a forward-thinking education that prepares students for success in an ever-changing world.
Providing a broad and engaging curriculum that includes English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Languages, and the Arts, the introduction of Year 10, for ages 14-16 years, will see students begin their IGCSE pathways, with A-Level programmes planned as the school extends to a full Secondary offering through to Year 13.

Gill draws on last England series for inspiration
India take on England in a five-Test contest in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, beginning Friday at Headingley, and India's red-ball skipper Shubman Gill officially confirmed his position in the batting lineup at the pre-match presser. The 25-year-old takes over the No. 4 position, following the retirement of Virat Kohli, who occupied that slot for the majority of his Test career for India, and the right-hand batter opened up on conversations leading to the decision. "The summer has been a little bit different to the other English summers. It's been a little bit dry, so I was just waiting to see the wicket one last time to see the final combinations and deciding on that," said Gill at the pre-match press conference. 'After Virat Bhai retired, me and GG Bhai [Gautam Gambhir] had a discussion about it. And we were both clear that he wanted me to bat at number four, and I was also clear that I also wanted to bat at that number." Gill will be debuting as India's No. 4 in the contest at Leeds. In his 32 Tests so far, Gill has 16 outings as an opener and as many outings as India's No. 3.

Man City show squad depth in 2-0 Club World Cup win over Wydad
Phil Foden's second-minute strike sparked Manchester City's 2-0 victory over Morocco's Wydad AC in the Club World Cup opener for both teams on Wednesday in Philadelphia. The Premier League powerhouse added a goal by Jeremy Doku in the 42nd minute off a corner kick from Foden. Foden converted from inside the box for the fastest goal in Club World Cup history. His left-footed shot came after Wydad goalkeeper El Mehdi Benabid blocked a shot by Savinho directly into Foden's path. It was the first goal in 20 matches for club and country for the 25-year-old English midfielder. Before the break, Foden's corner kick found Doku's right foot for a close-range goal to double the Manchester City advantage. Man City will face Al Ain on Sunday in Atlanta, while Wydad will remain in Philadelphia to face Juventus on Sunday. Manchester City will be without defender Rico Lewis, who drew a red card in the 88th minute.
