The Bryant-bound standout made two clutch saves in the final two minutes, cementing a thrilling 9-8 triumph over rival and defending champion Cohasset at Babson College.
Pithie finished with 12 saves, guiding the No. 3 Clippers (19-3) to their first state title since 2018 and ninth overall.
Senior Charlise Cox delivered the winner with 2:42 left, then Pithie and the defense took care of the rest to seal a Division 4 championship.

'This is the best feeling in the world,' Cox said. 'Our whole team has been waiting so long for this.'

Senior Holly Panttila paced the Clippers with three goals and Natasha Mikus and Caroline Burtch added two apiece. Sophomore Molly Campbell notched three and her twin Maddie scored two for the No. 1 Skippers (21-3).
Cohasset fought valiantly, but ended up running out of time.
'They battled,' said first-year Cohasset coach Kara Connerty, who previously coached Norwell. 'I'm very proud of my team and my seniors.'That's what you want in the state final is a battle.'
The teams were tied at 3 through one quarter, 6 at the half, and 8 with six minutes remaining. Then the Florida State-bound Cox darted in from behind the net and finished in one fluid swoop.

In the final seconds, as she's done so many times throughout her illustrious career, Pithie saved the Clippers one more time.
'The emotions were so high,' said first-year Norwell coach Laura Callahan. 'It was honestly such a battle between the two teams. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. It just came down to that these girls just wanted it.'
When the final horn sounded, the Clippers celebrated at midfield, then kept the party going on the sideline. Pithie couldn't believe it actually happened, asking if it was real. It was, indeed.
After falling to the Skippers in a heartbreaker during the regular season, the Clippers avenged that loss and sent their seniors out as champions.
They no longer had to wonder what if, as they actualized a collective dream with one magical moment.
'It's truly amazing,' Pithie said. 'I've been dreaming of this moment since I was a freshman. I just can't even believe it's here.'
When the buzzer sounded, the Norwell players sprinted down the turf at Babson to celebrate their 9-8 win over Cohasset in the Division 4 final.

Los Angeles Clippers keeping non All-Star off-limits in Kevin Durant trade

Will the Los Angeles Clippers trade for Kevin Durant? They're reportedly trying to work out a deal with the Phoenix Suns, even though they're not on the future first-ballot Hall of Famer's shortlist of preferred landing spots. As exciting as it would be to pair Durant with Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers do have standards that they're not willing to lower. Specifically, as NBA insider Marc Stein states, the Clippers aren't willing to part with blossoming center Ivica Zubac to land Durant. 'We've been consistently told L.A. has no desire to part with Ivica Zubac… as much as Phoenix surely covets the consistently improving center. The Clippers, however, do hold two future first-round picks and some available swap rights to sweeten a potential Durant offer that would almost certainly require the inclusion of Norman Powell, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Derrick Jones Jr.' Marc Stein on Kevin Durant trade to Los Angeles Clippers Advertisement That could be notable, considering the Suns are reportedly trying to find an upgrade at their starting center position this offseason. If the Clippers aren't willing to part with Zubac, it could mean they're left on the outside looking in when it comes to landing Durant. Of course, as Stein notes, the Clippers do have other options, but there's no guarantee that Los Angeles has anything else that Phoenix covets to part with a trade chip as valuable as Durant. In other words, if the Clippers do have Durant near the top of their vision board, it may require getting ultra creative this offseason. Besides, if you're Phoenix, does a trade package built around Norman Powell, Bogdan Bogdanovic, or Derrick Jones and first-round picks sound enticing enough to move on from Durant? Probably not. Pacers, Thunder Going The Distance in NBA Finals; How Last 5 Game 7s Have Fared

For the 20th time in the history of the sport, the NBA Finals will require a Game 7. The Indiana Pacers won Game 6 on their home floor on Thursday night to force the win-or-go-home affair against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which will take place on Sunday night at 8 p.m. When was the last NBA Finals matchup to go seven games? How close were the last handful of Game 7s? Here's how each of the last five Game 7s in NBA Finals history played out, in chronological order. 1994: Houston Rockets 90, New York Knicks 84 After coming back home facing a 3-2 series deficit, Houston won back-to-back games to win the series. In Game 7, the Rockets won every quarter by a narrow margin, with Hakeem Olajuwon leading the way with a game-high 25 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks, accompanied by 21 points from Vernon Maxwell and 13 points and two steals in 18 minutes for Sam Cassell. It was a tight affair from start to finish, with Derek Harper's team-high 23 points keeping the Knicks in the mix despite Patrick Ewing's (7 of 17 from the field) and John Starks' (2 of 18 from the field) inefficient games. But Houston kept New York at bay in the fourth quarter and ultimately held on to win its first championship in franchise history, then went on to repeat as NBA champions the next season. 2005: San Antonio Spurs 81, Detroit Pistons 74 San Antonio had a 2-0 series lead and then a 3-2 lead, but Detroit evened up the series both times. On a June 23 night in San Antonio, though, the Spurs would not be denied. The game was tied at 57 apiece entering the fourth quarter, and then San Antonio's offense came to life. Manu Ginobili proceeded to score 11 of his 23 points in the final quarter, with Ginobili and Tim Duncan combining for 48 of San Antonio's 81 total points, while Robert Horry chipped in 15 points. As a whole, the Spurs held the Pistons to 41.9% shooting from the field and 14.3% shooting from behind the arc. It marked the Spurs' third NBA championship under head coach Gregg Popovich and their second title in three seasons. 2010: Los Angeles Lakers 83, Boston Celtics 79 The Celtics brought a 3-2 series lead to Los Angeles, but the Lakers prevailed on their home court. After an 89-67 Game 6 victory, the Lakers won Game 7 in grueling fashion. It was an inauspicious start for the Lakers, with them scoring just 14 first-quarter points, and Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol shooting a combined 3 of 15 from the field. Los Angeles trailed after each of the first three quarters, but it then broke out for a 30-point fourth quarter, which saw Bryant — who shot just 6 of 24 from the field throughout the entire game — score 10 points, eight of those coming from the charity stripe. [Related: 4 Teams Have Won an NBA Finals Game 7 on The Road. Will the Pacers be the 5th?] Still finishing with a game-high 23 points, Bryant also pulled down 15 rebounds and had a pivotal assist to Metta World Peace — who finished with 20 points, five rebounds and five steals — who knocked down a 3-pointer with 1:01 remaining in the game to give the Lakers a six-point lead and help them finish off the win. It was the 12th NBA Finals matchup between the Lakers and Celtics and was the last time they faced off in the championship round. 2013: Miami Heat 95, San Antonio Spurs 88 The Heat won their second consecutive title in 2013, but they did so in the face of multiple scares, starting with Ray Allen helping force overtime with a 3-pointer with 5.2 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of Game 6. Up 90-88 in the final minute of Game 7, Miami forced a Tim Duncan miss, and the Heat came up with the ball with 42 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. On the ensuing possession, LeBron James made a mid-range jump shot, and San Antonio never scored again. James led the way for the Heat, who had the lead throughout the entire fourth quarter, with 37 points and 12 rebounds. Meanwhile, Dwyane Wade had 23 points and 10 rebounds and Shane Battier knocked down six 3-pointers for Miami. 2016: Cleveland Cavaliers 93, Golden State Warriors 89 It was not only a historic game in Cleveland sports, but it was also one of the best games in NBA history. A series that Golden State led 3-1 required a Game 7 in the Bay Area, and it delivered. With 1:51 remaining in a game knotted up at 89 apiece, LeBron James flew in and denied Andre Iguodala's fastball layup attempt. While the Cavaliers didn't score on the next possession, they got another defensive stop. Following a timeout, Kyrie Irving drained a step-back 3-pointer with 53 seconds remaining, and it would be the final field goal of the game, which proved to be enough for Cleveland to get the epic win and finish off the 3-1 series comeback. James and Irving combined for 53 points, while James posted a triple-double (27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists). For Golden State, Draymond Green had the individual game of his life, finishing with 32 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists, but the Cavaliers held the NBA's best backcourt – Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson – to a combined 31 points on 12 of 36 shooting from the field and the Warriors as a whole to 38.6% shooting from the field. Golden State didn't score in the last 4:39 of play. It was the first championship in Cavaliers history and the first for Cleveland sports since the Cleveland Browns won the 1964 NFL Championship. How Rafael Devers' last hours in a Red Sox uniform played out

BOSTON — At 4:45 p.m. Sunday, for the first time in nearly a month, Rafael Devers met with reporters to discuss his homer off Max Fried that helped the Red Sox cap off their best weekend of the season with a sweep of the Yankees. Just minutes before, he was celebrating a big Boston win on the field at Fenway Park. It turns out those moments were his last in a Red Sox uniform. Advertisement Hours later, clubhouse attendants at Fenway Park were packing up Devers' grey Land Rover and sending it on its way. In a shocking Sunday night development, the man who had just hours before talked about how he felt his team was finally hitting its stride was heading West — but separate from the Seattle-bound the Red Sox. Devers had been traded to the Giants in a shocking blockbuster that sent four players — including pitchers Jordan Hicks and Kyle Harrison — to Boston. 'I'm literally speechless on this one,' said one longtime American League scout. At some point after the game, the Red Sox informed Devers he had been traded to San Francisco. As his team boarded a flight to Seattle at Logan Airport, he got in a cab and headed back to Fenway, where his car was waiting for him. He then drove home, seemingly to pack. A source with knowledge of the discussions said Sunday that the slugger had not demanded a trade. But the possibility, which had quietly loomed ever since Devers balked at the club's request for him to move to designated hitter during spring training, likely didn't crush him, either. Devers has felt for months that he had been poorly treated by the organization and, in emotional moments during spring training, had told friends and confidants that he had considered asking for one. Advertisement The Red Sox have been riding high in recent days, winning five straight (and seven of eight, including five of six over the Yankees) to get back to a game over .500. But there have been whispers of back-room meetings about a shakeup in recent days, even after top prospects Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer joined the club. Principal owner John Henry was on hand at Fenway on Sunday, making a rare appearance on the field before the game to catch up with legendary sportswriter Peter Gammons, who was honored and threw out a first pitch. On the field, though, it was status quo for Devers, who hit second as the designated hitter and launched an opposite-field homer off Fried in the sixth inning. After his 31st career blast against the Yankees, he showered, got dressed in team-issued travel gear for the club's flight to Seattle, then after a brief discussion with a media relations official, came to the clubhouse podium and addressed reporters in a formal setting for the first time since May 17. The session lasted four minutes and 15 seconds. 'Last month, it felt like we were always starting from behind,' Devers said. 'Now, it feels like the starting pitcher is giving us a shot to get ahead. That's very good. 'I feel like we're playing good baseball. I still feel like we have more. When the guys who are injured come back, we can show we have even more there.' Advertisement Since his much-publicized meeting with Henry and manager Alex Cora in Kansas City on May 9, Devers has not revealed what was said behind closed doors at Kauffman Stadium. That night, after a tough Red Sox loss, he told reporters that they should ask team officials — and not him — for details of that meeting. Nothing changed on the field as Devers remained at DH and the Red Sox tried Romy Gonzalez, Abraham Toro and Nick Sogard at first base. Devers wasn't considered to play third base when Alex Bregman went down with a quad injury in late May. Though Cora and chief baseball officer Craig Breslow often repeated the refrain that 'conversations were ongoing' between the team and Devers about potentially taking grounders at some point, he never showed a willingness to do so. Devers took grounders at shortstop for agility purposes before games on this past homestand but Cora reiterated Saturday that he was his DH. 'I feel good,' Devers said Sunday. 'I feel like I've adapted really well and now I'm just playing baseball.' Any excitement about a week that saw the Red Sox call up their top prospect Anthony, then go on a mini-heater against their rivals quickly turned to shock. The overlap between Anthony and Devers' time on the roster lasted six games. It's a striking reality considering how upbeat Devers seemed about a new core that included rookies Anthony, Mayer and Kristian Campbell. 'We're playing good baseball and even more when the young kids are here and learning how to play winning baseball,' Devers said. 'That's very good for us.' Advertisement The final question that was posed to Devers was whether or not the drama and distractions that had defined the early part of his 2025 season were behind him. 'That has passed,' Devers said. It sure has. More Red Sox coverage Read the original article on MassLive.
