Brace yourselves, Thai VIPs. After years of near-silence, the K-pop icon G-Dragon has officially announced his long-awaited return to the stage. Bangkok finds itself front and centre on the second phase of his Ubermensch world tour.
G-Dragon, the soloist and style icon of K-pop powerhouse BigBang, is known for his rap flow and kaleidoscopic fashion sense. The king of cool returned after a seven-year, four-month hiatus with his single 'Power', released on October 31. The drop sparked a full-blown storm across the Korean entertainment scene.
Before that, no one really knew what his next move would be – or when we'd ever see him on stage again. Sure, he recently made a brief stop in Thailand, performing as part of a K-pop lineup at K-Star Spark in Bangkok, but it felt more like a teaser than a return. When is G-Dragon's world tour in Bangkok?
Though the poster states that G-Dragon will take over Rajamangala National stadium for one night on August 2 2025, he confirmed on his Instagram that the show will actually span one more night, extending to August 3. Exact times and ticketing details are expected to drop soon.
Setlist
The official setlist has yet to be confirmed, fans are already deep in speculation mode. With a catalogue stacked with iconic tracks, there's plenty to choose from. There are two bars to choose from – Sky Pod and City Garden – where you can sip your cocktail or G&T while watching the sunset, as well as three restaurants within the building. It's a must-visit, although be aware it doesn't come cheap – cocktails start at around £15, while the cheapest glass of wine will set you back a tenner. Offering a unique blend of Japanese and Mexican food including sushi andtacos, you can indulge in delicious light but tasty bites. There's also Sunday sessions from 1pm to 9pm which offer DJ sets as you watch the sun go down. All 7 BTS members are now done with mandatory service

SEOUL, South Korea— Suga, a rapper and songwriter in the global K-pop sensation BTS, has been discharged from South Korea's mandatory military service, marking the official return of all seven members from their enlistment duties. The label confirmed that Suga completed his alternative service duties on Wednesday after using up his remaining leave. His official discharge date is Saturday. BTS' management agency, Big Hit Entertainment, had said earlier that no events were planned for Suga's release out of concern for overcrowding. It is a momentous occasion for fans of the K-pop group BTS. The seven singers of the popular K-pop band plan to reunite as a group sometime in 2025 now that they've finished their service. Last week, BTS superstars RM and V were discharged from South Korea's military after fulfilling their mandatory service. Jimin and Jung Kook were discharged a day later. All four were enlisted in December 2023. Six of the group's seven members served in the army, while Suga fulfilled his duty as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service. Jin, the oldest BTS member, was discharged in June 2024. J-Hope was discharged in October. In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 are required by law to perform 18-21 months of military service under a conscription system meant to deter aggression from rival North Korea. The law gives special exemptions to athletes, classical and traditional musicians, and ballet and other dancers if they have obtained top prizes in certain competitions and are assessed to have enhanced national prestige. K-pop stars and other entertainers aren't subject to such privileges. However, in 2020, BTS postponed their service until age 30 after South Korea's National Assembly revised its Military Service Act, allowing K-pop stars to delay their enlistment until age 30. There was heated public debate in 2022 over whether to offer special exemptions of mandatory military service for BTS members, until the group's management agency announced in October 2022 that all seven members would fulfill their duties.

World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025: Here are the 14 Asian Entries

In March, we reported on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2025, which includes culinary giants like Gaggan (Bangkok), Wing (Hong Kong), and Odette (Singapore). But how do these restaurants stack up against other prestigious venues worldwide? Well, we now have an answer. On Thursday (Jun 19), the cream of the culinary crop gathered in Turin, Region of Piedmont, Italy for the unveiling of The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2025. Top honours went to Maido, a restaurant run by chef-owner Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumaru, which has been serving up some of the finest Nikkei cuisine in Peru (and the world) for 15 years now. Out of the 50 laureates, 14 restaurants from Asia were recognised – the region's top dog being (who else?), Gaggan from Bangkok, slotting in at No. 6 on the global list. Many of the entrants in the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list are also represented, including Tokyo's Sézanne at No. 7, Hong Kong's Wing at No. 11, and Seoul's Mingles at No. 29. In a stunning debut on the global list, Bangkok's Potong slides in at No. 13, bagging it the Highest New Entry Award. Congratulations to its fellow Bangkokian, Nusara, for also making its debut, at No. 35. Having said that, we'd recommend a trip to the Thai capital if you'd like to try as many restaurants on the list as possible – the city has six entrants, the most of any Asian city. And talk about comebacks – two restaurants from Japan made a triumphant re-entry this year. They are Narisawa from Tokyo at No. 21 and La Cime from Osaka at No. 44.
