Kajol claims Ramoji Film City is one of the most haunted places in the world. Her comments sparked a fierce debate online, with many Hyderabadis calling it nonsense.
Bollywood star Kajol recently found herself in the middle of a social media storm after calling Hyderabad's iconic Ramoji Film City 'one of the most haunted places in the world." While promoting her upcoming horror film Maa, the actor opened up about her belief in energies and spooky spaces—an admission that has since gone viral and sparked a heated online debate.
In an interview with Galatta India, Kajol was asked if she had ever sensed a negative energy in real life. 'I have experienced this multiple times," she said. 'Call it negative energy or vibes, but sometimes, when you go to a place, you feel like something isn't right. I've shot at places where I couldn't sleep all night. I felt like it would be better if I just left."
She then named Ramoji Film City as a 'prime example," saying, 'It's considered one of the most haunted places in the world. I've been lucky not to have seen anything paranormal, though."
While Kajol's anecdote touched upon a long-standing urban legend associated with the sprawling film complex, not everyone was amused. Critics online accused her of sensationalizing superstition for the sake of film promotions. 'Tomorrow she'll play a scientist and say there's nothing better than rationality," one Redditor commented. Others pointed out the irony, saying, 'If it were truly haunted, lakhs wouldn't visit it every year. It's the pride of Hyderabad."
Many users jumped to the studio's defense, citing the blockbuster movies shot there—from Baahubali and Pushpa to RRR, Pathaan, Salaar, and more. 'It's negative propaganda against Telugu cinema," one post read. Another user added sarcastically, 'Ghosts still working in 2025? That's commitment!"
Ramoji Film City, which spans over 1,600 acres and holds a Guinness World Record for being the largest film studio in the world, has long been surrounded by tales of eerie occurrences. Urban legends suggest it was built on the land of a former battlefield or graveyard—a story that has fed ghost stories for years.
Some, however, backed Kajol's statement, saying she wasn't alone in sensing 'something off" at the location. 'Even Tapsee Pannu and director Sundar C have shared similar experiences," one user noted. Others cited filmmaker Ravi Babu, who once said a real-life incident at Sitara Hotel inside Ramoji Film City inspired his horror film Avunu.
Despite the backlash, Kajol has not responded to the trolling or issued a clarification. For now, she seems content letting her spooky experiences speak for themselves—as does Maa, which is set to hit theatres on June 27.

Kajol about Shah Rukh Khan 's first reaction to her Kajol shared that during the filming of Baazigar in 1992, both Shah Rukh and she had different energies. I don't think he even remembers half of it,' she said. Kajol about Shah Rukh Khan pinching her to make correct reaction in a scene The conversation also touched on a memorable scene in Baazigar that required a touch of sensuality. Kajol was unsure how to portray that role as she was just 18. She admitted struggling with the shot until choreographer Saroj Khan stepped in with a quirky solution. 'Saroj ji said that you have to suddenly feel 'aah'. It has to be an expression of sensuality. I told her I don't understand,' she said. Kajol revealed that SRK was asked to pinch her during the scene to help her deliver the right expression. She added that over the years, both she and SRK have shared many such goofy and spontaneous moments on set. Kajol reveals why she and daughter Nysa often fight at the dinner table, says 'most fights...'

Kajol is a legendary actress from the 90s, who is known for her stellar performances in films like Baazigar (1993), Yeh Dillagi (1994), Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). She began her career in 1992 with the movie Bekhudi. Eventually, she tied the knot with superstar Ajay Devgn. Kajol is the mother of Nysa and Yug Devgan. She has shared that she often has disagreements with her children. Kajol mentioned that her experience of motherhood has consistently been one of learning. There are moments when she feels a bit lost. Kajol's Disagreements With Her Little Ones Recently, Kajol recounted a disagreement she had with her kids during dinner, stating, 'There have been multiple instances when I reflect back, particularly concerning food. I must tell you that most of the fights between my children and me have taken place at the dining table. So yes, there have been numerous discussions at the dinner table, but at one moment, I realized that Nysa looked at me and said, 'Mom, just relax. I know what I'm doing, and when I feel hungry, I will eat.' In the interview, Kajol expressed that her children often remind her, in just a word or two, that she can sometimes be mistaken, which catches her off guard. She was astonished to discover that she could truly gain a lot of insights from her children. She remarked, 'It caught me off guard. I turned around and realized that I can learn from them. Now I am accustomed to it, but that part of me that turned around to learn from my children in small ways has remained within me. I don't mean to sound arrogant when I assert that I am a good mother. However, there are times I become a better person because my children have taught me to improve.' 'I Have Learned How To Stay…' Kajol continued, saying, 'At first, I used to be very concerned about whether my daughter was eating. Nysa was in boarding school and went to London, where she is thriving. Kajol believes her daughter is happy and making progress, so she has made the right choice. As a mother, Kajol has picked up the ability to remain calm and not stress about whether Nysa is eating or not. This is because she has learned the art of staying composed from her young daughter, who understands her mother's worries. Kajol elaborated, 'She will eat when she is hungry, or she might do something else. So I needed to stay calm about it, you know? And as an adult, she must learn, and she will find her way to do so at some point. That's it. I have gained a lot from our mealtime experiences. A lot.'

Box Office: Sitaare Zameen Par collects Rs 10.50 crore on opening day; Aamir Khan starrer picks up from evening shows

Sitaare Zameen Par directed by RS Prasanna and starring Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh and many more has taken an estimated opening in the vicinity of Rs 10.50 crore on its first Friday. The opening of the movie in India compares well with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which opened in the similar range and played well with the same set of audience in the post pandemic world. Now it is to be seen how the Aamir Khan starrer does in the days to follow. Sitaare Zameen Par, After A Rs 10.50 Crore Day 1, Looks To Grow Well On Saturday The advance bookings of Sitaare Zameen Par for day 2 suggest a jump of 60-80 percent, meaning that a number of Rs 17-19 crore can be expected. That can further be consolidated with a Rs 21 crore Sunday, giving the film a weekend of Rs 45-50 crore net. The word of mouth of the movie seems on the positive side for audiences preferring class appealing content. It will eventually be this set of audience that will determine the movie's eventual theatrical fate. A Rs 10.50 crore start for an Aamir Khan film in 2025 is not good by any means. However, the blow of an underwhelming start is softened by generally favourable reception by the target audience. With a mixed or poor reception, this opening would have been a bummer. But now, the film has a chance to do some reasonable business. What really needs to be seen is how the movie holds on Monday and then how much it grows on Tuesday when ticket prices are subsidised. If the weekday hold is strong, the second weekend should be solid despite a new Bollywood film Maa, headlined by Kajol, releasing. An initiative by Aamir Khan that's worth highlighting is that he has held back the digital rights of the movie, meaning it won't release on any OTT platform even after 2 months. Will this help the movie with a leggier run is now to be seen. There are reports that it is likely to release on a Pay Per View basis, on YouTube, after 2 months but that can't be said for certain at this point in time. The Day Wise Net India Collections Of Sitaare Zameen Par In India Are As Under Sitaare Zameen Par Eyes A Good 2nd Day Jump Sitaare Zameen Par's Good Theatrical Performance Is Very Essential For Profitability Sitaare Zameen Par is a rare film in recent times with a lot of pressure on solid theatrical performance. Most films recover their budget or a substantial part of it from non-theatrical sources. Here, just the music and satellite rights are said to be sold, which usually form just a third of the film's non-theatrical recoveries. The box office trajectory of Sitaare Zameen Par will be interesting to follow in the days to follow.
