New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) dream of hosting the World Test Championship Final (WTC Final) may remain unfulfilled for a few years. BCCI may get a big shock from the International Cricket Council (ICC). Since the inception of WTC, the final matches have been held in England. At the same time, BCCI had put forward the matter of holding the WTC Final in India to the ICC, but according to the Telegraph report, England will host the next three WTC Finals as well.
BCCI will have to wait for 8 years:
If England remains in control of the World Test Championship till the 2029-31 season, then India will have to wait for about eight long years to host the WTC final. According to the report, it can be announced in the ICC's annual conference to be held in Singapore in July 2025 that England will host the WTC final for the next three times as well.
BCCI did not get a chance:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has been trying continuously for the last six years to get India the hosting rights of the WTC Final. But despite the ever-increasing influence of BCCI in world cricket, it could not get the hosting rights. Former BCCI secretary Jay Shah is currently the chairperson of the ICC, despite this, this opportunity seems to be slipping out of India's hands.
The power of the WTC final is in the hands of England:
The first final of the World Test Championship was played in the year 2021, which took place between India and New Zealand in Southampton, England. At the same time, the second WTC final was played in 2023 between India and Australia at the Oval ground in London. Now the third final is being played between Australia and South Africa at Lord's.

Played Cricket World Cup, Acted With Ranveer Singh. This Singer With ‘Bijli'-Like Aura Is...

Last Updated: Harrdy Sandhu played for the Punjab team as a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium paced bowler. His 'bijli' didn't just light up the music world, but it also shined on the cricket field. Yes, we are talking about Harrdy Sandhu. Most of us know him as the singing star behind popular tracks like Bijli, Naah Goriye, Soch, Backbone and many more. He has also appeared in films. But before all the fame in music and movies, Harrdy had a completely different dream – cricket. His early years were all about runs, wickets and the hope of wearing the Indian jersey one day. Cricket Journey Harrdy Sandhu's real name is Hardavinder Singh Sandhu. He began his career as a cricketer. He played for Punjab as a right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler. He was also selected for the India Under-19 team in 2004–05 and came close to joining the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup squad in 2006. In a podcast called Figuring Out With Raj Shamani, Harrdy shared his cricket journey. He said the Under-19 team held a training camp in Pune while preparing for the World Cup in Sri Lanka. He took the wickets of players like Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ravindra Jadeja, Pinal Shah and Yo Mahesh. He believed this performance would help him get selected. But things didn't go as expected. 'We were batting on the third day, and it was my turn to bat. I asked Rahul Sharma, a former India and Punjab spinner, for a bat. Rahul was often called 'Venky.' Coincidentally, Venkatesh Prasad, who was our coach, was sitting in front of me. I called out 'Venky' to Rahul but to my surprise, Venkatesh Prasad thought I was addressing him. Perhaps he took offense to this and it might have influenced his decision to stick with the same squad that had played in the last two U-19 tournaments," Sandhu said. At the time, the selectors were Pravin Amre, Dilip Vengsarkar and one more person. Harrdy wasn't picked for the final team. In 2007, he suffered an unrecoverable injury and had to give up playing cricket. Transition From Cricket To Music After cricket, Harrdy turned to music. Sidhu brands Michael Vaughan a ‘fool' in scathing takedown over England win prediction vs India: ‘Noise proves nothing'

India's five-Test tour of England began with a bang at Headingley, as new captain Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal notched up commanding centuries to lead India to a dominant 359/3 at stumps. And while the on-field dominance spoke volumes, the fireworks weren't limited to the pitch; Navjot Singh Sidhu lit up social media with a merciless takedown of former England captain Michael Vaughan's prediction. Navjot Singh Sidhu didn't mince his words as he reacted to Michael Vaughan's prediction(X/Getty) Before the series, Vaughan had confidently stated, 'They (India) arrive again to lose,' backing England for a 3-1 win, citing India's inexperience and the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. But as India surged ahead with their highest-ever opening day Test total in England, Sidhu pulled no punches in his reply. 'Fools grow without watering. Michael Vaughan, your predictions. They're always wrong,' Sidhu thundered in a video shared by Star Sports. He brought up Vaughan's failed forecast from the 2020/21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where India, written off due to injuries, stunned Australia with a 2-1 win. He also referenced Vaughan's recent misfire during the WTC final, where South Africa triumphed over Australia despite being ruled out by the Englishman. Sidhu didn't stop there. Taking a dig at England's toothless attack, he said, 'Look at your bowling attack. They're pedestrians. I mean, three of the Indian batsmen are stepping out and hitting them like spinners. Boss, noise proves nothing. Even a hen, while laying an egg, cackles as if she's laying an asteroid.' Watch: Gill's 127* in his captaincy debut and Jaiswal's fluent 101 headlined India's dominance on the opening day of the Test; Jaiswal reached his century despite suffering from severe cramping in both hands. The two added 129 for the third wicket before Rishabh Pant (65*) took charge in a ruthless final session. England's pacers struggled for control throughout, with captain Ben Stokes (2/43) the lone bright spot. Gill's hundred, his first outside Asia, came with a roar and a bow to the dressing room. 'Gill played amazingly, composed and calm,' said Jaiswal, who became the first Asian opener to score a century at Headingley.

Ishwar Pandey believes Jasprit Bumrah can play all five Tests in England

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 21 (ANI): Former Indian cricketer and Rewa Jaguars head coach Ishwar Pandey believes that right-arm seamer Jasprit Bumrah will play all five Test matches of the series against England in the ongoing tour. During the announcement of India's squad for the upcoming Test tour of England, chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed Bumrah was advised not to contest in consecutive Tests as part of his workload management. The precaution around Bumrah's usage stems from a stress reaction in the back during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney in January. Speaking to ANI about Bumrah, Ishwar Pandey said, "He has said that. But how his body reacts in the game. There are 5 test matches. There will be more workload. But I think he will play all the test matches. He has said that. But I think he will play all the test matches." Earlier on June 17, Bumrah said that before Rohit and Virat retired, he discussed his workload with the BCCI, considering his physical condition and the demands of a five-Test series. He consulted with his support team and surgeon, leading to a decision to manage his workload more strategically. "Before Rohit and Virat retired, during the IPL, I had spoken to the BCCI. I had discussed my workloads going forward in a five-Test match series. I've spoken to the people who have managed my back, I've spoken to the surgeon as well, who's always spoken to me about how smart you have to be about the workloads. So I did speak to him and then we concluded that I have to be a little smarter," the fast bowler said while speaking on Sky Sports Cricket. "But yeah, captaincy meant a lot. I had worked very hard for it. But unfortunately, sometimes you have to look after the bigger picture. I love cricket more than captaincy. So I want to contribute more as a cricketer and to the Indian team as a player. Ambitions are there, but that's how it is, but I called the BCCI and said I don't want to be looked at in a leadership role," the 31-year-old player added. Bumrah is currently participating in the ongoing Leeds Test at Headingley, which will take place from June 20 to 24. In his previous assignments in England, Bumrah boasted 37 scalps in nine appearances at 26.27 while maintaining an economy of 2.72 and striking at 57.8. (ANI)
