Sullivan Street Nears Deal for Senior's Aerostructures Unit

(Bloomberg) -- Investment firm Sullivan Street Partners is nearing a deal for British engineering group Senior Plc's aerostructures unit, which supplies components to Airbus SE and Boeing Co., people with knowledge of the matter said.
London-based Sullivan Street could reach a final agreement with Senior in the coming weeks, the people said, asking not to be identified because the information is private. A deal would value Senior's aerostructures operations at about £200 million ($268 million) including debt, the people said.
Sullivan Street is poised to beat out other suitors including investment firm Aurelius, the people said. While talks are advanced, an agreement could still be delayed or fall apart, the people said. Representatives for Senior and Aurelius declined to comment. A spokesperson for Sullivan Street couldn't be reached for comment.
Senior said last week that it had made 'further good progress' and 'detailed discussions with parties are ongoing.' A sale would end a long search by the company, which has been working with adviser Lazard Inc. to sell the aerostructures business since 2019.
The divestment would leave Rickmansworth, England-based Senior focused on its fluid conveyance and thermal management businesses and sub-systems. It operates in 12 countries, according to its website. The board last week forecast 'good growth' for the group in 2025, helped by the aerospace business. The company has a market value of £560 million.
Sullivan Street focuses on the lower mid-market and acquires controlling stakes in UK-based businesses, its website shows. The investment firm recently acquired three marine infrastructure companies in the UK.

Bloomberg reported that Apple currently earns an estimated $20 billion a year by making Google the default search engine in Safari, but that agreement is under scrutiny from US antitrust regulators. Despite unveiling its Apple Intelligence platform at WWDC 2024, the company remains behind competitors in core features. Siri's planned upgrade was even delayed earlier this year, with a revised rollout now targeted for next spring. Bloomberg previously reported that Samsung Electronics is close to finalising a major partnership with Perplexity. Samsung is reportedly aiming to announce these integrations as early as this year, potentially making Perplexity a default assistant option on its upcoming Galaxy S26 series. On select Motorola smartphones, including the Edge 60 Pro, users can choose between Perplexity AI, Google Gemini, and Microsoft Copilot as their default assistant. Bloomberg also noted that Apple is weighing an alternative: partnering with Perplexity rather than acquiring it outright. Adani commissions India's first off-grid 5 MW green hydrogen plant in Gujarat

The Adani Group has announced the successful commissioning of India's first off-grid 5 megawatt green hydrogen pilot plant in Kutch, Gujarat. Developed by Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL), the clean energy arm of Adani Enterprises Ltd. , the plant represents a significant advancement in the country's pursuit of clean and self-reliant energy solutions. An off-grid green hydrogen plant generates hydrogen through electrolysis powered solely by renewable energy—such as solar or wind—without any connection to the conventional power grid. This means the plant operates independently, relying fully on its own renewable energy infrastructure. Describing the development as a key milestone supporting India's National Green Hydrogen Mission, the Adani Group said the project establishes technical feasibility and sets new standards for off-grid, renewable-powered applications of green hydrogen in high-emission sectors. "The state-of-the-art plant is 100 per cent green-powered by solar energy and integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling it to operate completely off-grid. This represents a new paradigm in decentralised, renewable-powered hydrogen production," the company said in a statement. Hydrogen, the most abundant element in the universe, is also one of the cleanest fuels—emitting only water vapour when used. Its environmental impact varies based on production methods. Hydrogen made from fossil fuels is classified as grey, while green hydrogen is produced using electricity from renewable sources to split water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. Live Events ANIL is building an end-to-end ecosystem for large-scale green hydrogen production and its derivatives. This includes green ammonia, green methanol, sustainable aviation fuel, as well as the manufacturing of solar cells, ingots and wafers, solar modules, wind turbine generators, and electrolysers at its facility in Mundra, Gujarat, aimed at meeting both domestic and global demand. The Kutch-based pilot facility is also India's first of its kind to feature a fully automated, closed-loop electrolyser system that adjusts dynamically to real-time renewable energy inputs. This allows for enhanced operational flexibility to address the inherent variability in solar power generation while ensuring safety, efficiency, and high performance. "This breakthrough reinforces the Adani Group's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and leadership in the emerging green hydrogen economy . It supports India's ambition to become a global hub for green hydrogen production and sets a benchmark for renewable-powered industrial applications across hard-to-abate sectors," the statement added. The pilot plant also acts as a proof of concept for ANIL's upcoming Green Hydrogen Hub in Mundra—an ambitious project expected to significantly contribute to India's low-carbon transition. Green hydrogen is seen as a critical tool for decarbonising challenging sectors such as fertilisers, oil refining, and heavy transport, and plays a central role in achieving global net-zero targets.

The UK must strengthen its scientific and academic ties with India as the country emerges as a global force in science and technology, said Lord Patrick Vallance, Britain's minister for science, research and innovation. Speaking at the 'Unlocking UK-India Collaboration for a New Era of Innovation' session at India Global Forum's Future Frontiers Forum in London on June 20, 2025, Vallance said there is room to expand the already strong relationship through greater mobility of high-skilled professionals. 'There is already a strong relationship between India and the UK, and I think it's growing,' said Vallance. 'But government-to-government relationships on science aren't actually what drives everything. It has to be a scientist and a scientist as well. There are important academic links. I'd like to see more of that as India becomes an increasingly powerful player in the science and tech space.' He added that the UK government would unveil its new Industrial Strategy 'in a few weeks', which would set out areas of focus for international partnerships, including with India. Push for skilled migration through the Global Talent visa Vallance flagged the Global Talent visa as a key tool to facilitate movement of experts across sectors. This visa route was one of the areas touched upon in the UK government's Immigration White Paper, released in May, which proposed making the application process easier for top scientists and designers. The Global Talent visa is open to individuals working in sectors such as: Science, engineering, and medicine Humanities and social sciences Arts and culture Digital technology Unlike most UK work visas, it does not require a job offer or sponsorship. How the Global Talent visa works • Applicants must be endorsed by a recognised UK body, such as the British Academy, Royal Society, or Arts Council England • They can be classified under 'Exceptional Talent' (established leaders) or 'Exceptional Promise' (emerging leaders) • The visa offers flexibility to work for any employer, switch jobs, or be self-employed • Settlement in the UK is possible after 3 to 5 years, depending on the endorsement type • Partners and children can be included in the application • Visa duration is up to 5 years, with options to extend Special visa for top university graduates in AI In a related move, the UK government in February expanded the High Potential Individual (HPI) visa, making it easier for foreign experts in artificial intelligence to stay in the UK. Graduates from top institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Carnegie Mellon University are now eligible. The HPI visa allows foreign graduates to stay in the UK for at least two years. Applicants must have completed a degree within the last five years from a university that features in at least two global rankings: Times Higher Education, QS, or the Academic Ranking of World Universities. The visa is part of the UK's broader effort to attract international talent in key areas of innovation.
