Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami attends closing ceremony of 'Swarnim 70 Years' in Haridwar
Haridwar (Uttarakhand) [India], June 22 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday attended the closing ceremony of 'Swarnim 70 Years' organised by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh Uttarakhand in Haridwar. The officials and youth of the Mazdoor Sangh welcomed the Chief Minister. Dhami inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. A large number of youth were also present in the program. Yesterday, Uttarakhand made history by becoming the first state in India to implement a dedicated Yoga Policy, following its pioneering efforts in introducing the Uniform Civil Code. The Pushkar Singh Dhami-led cabinet approved this landmark initiative, aiming to establish Uttarakhand as a global hub for yoga and wellness. The Yoga Policy has been prepared with the aim of establishing Uttarakhand as the global capital of yoga and wellness, under which a subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh is being provided for developing yoga and meditation centres in the state. A provision of grants up to Rs 10 lakh has also been made to promote research in the field of yoga, meditation and naturopathy in the state. With the inspiration of the Prime Minister, the state government has implemented the country's first Yoga Policy 2025 in the state. The Chief Minister further stated that the state government is determined to establish five new yoga hubs in the state by 2030 and by March 2026, the availability of yoga services will also be ensured in all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers in the state. The CM also planted an apple tree in the Vidhan Sabha premises under the 'Ek Vriksha Yoga ke Naam' program. During this, the Chief Minister announced that the state government would soon establish one Spiritual Economic Zone each in Garhwal and Kumaon divisions to promote Ayurvedic and Naturopathy, Yoga and Spiritual Tourism in the state. He further stated that two new towns would be established in the hilly areas of the state, which would establish the special identity of the state on the global map by becoming the center of Yoga, Ayurveda and Spirituality. New Delhi [India], June 22 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced the beginning of 'Ambubachi Mahayog,' an annual celebration honouring the divine femininity of Maa Kamakhya. In a post on social media platform X, Chief Minister Sarma shared that spiritual leaders and devotees from across the country would gather at the sacred Nilachal Hills to offer prayers. He welcomed pilgrims to Assam for a divine experience and to seek the blessings of Maa Kamakhya. 'Today marks the beginning of the #Ambubachi Mahayog, an annual celebration of Maa Kamakhya's divine femininity. Spiritual Gurus and devotees from across the country will dawn upon the sacred Nilachal Hills to pray for Bharat. Earlier on June 21, Sarma also dedicated two newly constructed district jails in Chirang and Baksa, further enhancing the region's infrastructure. It may be noted that Sarma first inaugurated the district jail at Kajolgoan in Chirang, which has been constructed involving the financial outlay of Rs 72.79 crore. The jail can accommodate 500 prisoners, 352 male and 138 female, separately. On the other hand, the district jail at Mushlapur, Baksa, was constructed for Rs 53.86 crore and has a capacity for 500 inmates, including standard administrative and inmate facilities. Speaking at the inaugural function held at Kajolgaon in Chirang, Chief Minister Sarma said that Chirang, though a full-fledged district, somehow lacks necessary infrastructural facilities.' However, as a result of joint initiatives by the state government and the BTC administration, the district is being empowered with much-needed infrastructure facilities. Within a very short time, construction work for the Chirang district stadium will get underway,' the CM said. He also said that the Upendra Nath Brahma garden being built in Chirang with a financial outlay of Rs 8 crore, once completed, will increase the beauty of Chirang. He said that the Gelephu Mindfulness City in Bhutan has created several possibilities in Chirang. Considering this development, the State government has undertaken several development works to empower the Chirang district socially and economically. The new road project will facilitate smooth movement from Chirang to Gelephu, and the rail line from Gelephu to Kokrajhar will touch Chirang, which will definitely expedite the economic development of the district,' he said. Telangana Dy CM Bhatti Vikramarka announces 2 per cent DA hike for power employees
HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Saturday announced a nearly 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for Power department employees. He said the state government, giving priority to employee welfare, has decided to enhance the DA by 1.944% for power employees and pensioners. The revised DA will benefit 71,417 employees and pensioners across the state. The DA has been raised from 14.074% to 16.018%, with retrospective effect from January this year. The revision will impose an additional monthly burden of Rs 11.193 crore on power utilities. Addressing employees of the power department at Praja Bhavan, the deputy chief minister said the revised DA would also apply to artisans, along with power employees and pensioners. 'Telangana should emerge as a guiding force in the power sector for the entire country. The state government is moving ahead with a well-structured strategy to achieve this. Electricity has become as essential to industrial production in today's competitive world as air is to life,' he said. Peak power demand Referring to demand trends, Vikramarka pointed out that in March 2023, when the BRS was in power, the peak power demand stood at 15,000 MW. 'After the Congress assumed office in December 2023, the demand rose to 17,162 MW by March 2025, an increase of over 2,000 MW. Despite this rise, the government and power employees had ensured uninterrupted and quality power supply,' he said. Vikramarka said the state anticipates a further steep rise in demand. Citing a report by a central agency, he stated that Telangana's peak power demand is projected to reach 26,299 MW by 2029–30 and 33,773 MW by 2034–35. The deputy chief minister added that the government was planning ahead to boost power generation capacity to meet these future requirements. He said that following the formation of the Congress government, the Green Energy Policy-2025 had been introduced, targeting the production of 20,000 MW of green power by 2029-30. He urged the power sector workforce to be prepared to face future challenges and reiterated that the government and employees together formed an ideal working partnership.
