3 senior Maoists killed in ASR district encounter

Hans India3 days ago

Paderu (ASR district): IN another blow to the CPI (Maoist), three top Maoist leaders were killed by security forces in an intense gun battle in the dense forests near Kondamodalu, close to Kintukuru village in Devipatnam mandal of the Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district. The operation marks one of the most significant anti-Maoist strikes in the Andhra–Odisha Border (AOB) region in recent years.
The encounter, which took place early Tuesday, resulted in the deaths of three high-ranking Maoists. Gajarla Ravi alias Uday, a Central Committee member; Ravi Venka Chaitanya alias Aruna, a Special Zonal Committee member and wife of recently deceased top Maoist leader Pratapareddy Ramachandra Reddy (also known as Chalapathi Rao); and Anju, an Area Committee Member (ACM) in the AOB Special Zonal Committee.
Security forces, acting on credible intelligence, launched a swift operation in the Kondamodalu forest area after reports indicated the presence of a group of 12–16 armed Maoists. The gun battle lasted for approximately 25 minutes, during which the three Maoists were killed. The remaining cadres fled deep into the forest, prompting a massive combing operation in the surrounding areas.
Three AK-47 assault rifles and other material were recovered from the encounter site. Police officials confirmed that reinforcement units from Devipatnam police station were quickly dispatched to secure the area and support the operation.
Gajarla Ravi alias Uday, a veteran Maoist operative since the 1980s, was previously involved in peace talks with the Andhra Pradesh government and had a Rs 25 lakh bounty on his head. Aruna, who carried a Rs 20 lakh reward, was accused in the high-profile 2018 assassination of then MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao and former MLA Siveri Soma near Dumbriguda. She hailed from Karakavani Palem in Pendurthi mandal, Visakhapatnam district.
Police said that the bodies of the deceased Maoists were shifted to Rampachodavaram Area Hospital for post-mortem examination.
A senior police official hailed the operation as a significant success in the fight against Maoist extremism in the region. The elimination of key leadership figures is expected to severely impact the strategic and operational capacities of Maoist units in the AOB zone, which has been a long-standing stronghold.
Combing operations are ongoing to trace the fleeing Maoists, and police have appealed to local villagers to cooperate and share any suspicious movements or information.

'Rain No Barrier': Amit Shah Says Naxals Won't Sleep Easy This Monsoon

Last Updated: Amit Shah assured the Maoists that he would wholeheartedly welcome them if they laid down arms and joined the mainstream. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that despite it being the monsoon season, the anti-Naxal operations will continue, also urging the Maoists to lay down arms and join the journey of development while ruling out any talks. His remarks came while he was laying foundation stones for the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) campus and a Central Forensic Science Lab in Chhattisgarh's Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. 'Every time during the rainy season, Naxalites used to get rest (as swollen rivers hamper anti-Naxal operations inside dense forest), but this time, we will not let them sleep during monsoon, and we will move further to achieve the target of 31/3 (2026 to eliminate Naxalism)," Shah said. 'Lay down arms and join the journey of development; no need for talks. Just give up armed struggle and join the mainstream," he added. Shah even assured that he would wholeheartedly welcome them if they laid down arms and joined the mainstream. Whatever promises the Chhattisgarh government and the Centre have made to them will be fulfilled, and we will try to help you even more, he said. Further speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to make India a developed country by 2047, he said, 'It is not focused only on innovation, infrastructure, industrial and economic developments, but ensuring timely justice is also included and three new laws (Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam) will help in ensuring timely justice." Meanwhile, amid the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in Chhattisgarh, a woman Naxalite carrying a bounty of Rs 8 lakh was killed in an encounter with security personnel in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district on Friday morning. The gunfight broke out on a forested hill under Chhotebethiya police station limits when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Border Security Force (BSF) was out on an anti-Naxal operation, Kanker Superintendent of Police Indira Kalyan Elesela told PTI. With the latest action, 212 Naxalites have been killed in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh so far this year. First Published:

CPI demands action against Adoni MLA for making ‘casteist remarks' against Dalit sarpanch

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly condemned Adoni MLA P.V. Parthasarathi for allegedly making casteist and religious remarks against a Dalit sarpanch during a public meeting at Dhanapuram village of Adoni constituency in Kurnool district. CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna issued a statement on Saturday, demanding immediate action against the legislator. According to Mr. Ramakrishna, the incident took place during a recent event at Dhanapuram, where the village sarpanch, a member of the Dalit community, was deliberately denied the opportunity to come onto the stage. The CPI leader described the act as 'outrageous and disgraceful,' accusing the MLA of insulting the sarpanch based on caste. 'Even while tendering an apology, the MLA mentioned the sarpanch's religion, which is absolutely unacceptable,' Mr. Ramakrishna stated, adding that such behaviour was unbecoming of an elected representative in a democratic and civil society. He said that public officials must act with a sense of responsibility and avoid any reference to caste or religion in their public conduct. 'We demand strict action against MLA Parthasarathi. The government must ensure such incidents are not repeated in future,' he said. It may be recalled that a video from Adoni in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district has gone viral, showing the BJP MLA allegedly humiliating a Dalit sarpanch during a public event on June 16. The MLA is seen denying the sarpanch access to the stage and questioning, 'Is he a Christian?' after learning about his caste.
