25 Items To Carry If You're Going To Disney World
Hey guys! I'm Samar Hadri, a BuzzFeed shopping writer and Orlando, Florida native 🍊. I've been a Disney World Annual Passholder for well over a decade (I may or may not have even gotten married at Disney 😅), so yeah, I'm something of a theme park expert. These are the products that I've tried and can recommend firsthand to make sure your amusement park experience is as smooth and stress-free as possible. With these products, you can feel prepared for almost any situation that pops up during a full day of trudging through the parks.
First things first, a mid-size sling backpack that'll hold all of your essentials while still being small enough to fit in the pouch of whichever rides you love the most. With several compartments inside the bag, as well as a front pouch on the strap, you can keep everything incredibly organized to cut down on the time it takes for you to dig for your phone for spontaneous photos or sunscreen for your two-hour reapplications. Plus, it even has mesh pockets for your water bottle and umbrella!
A reusable rain poncho for the buckets of water that can suddenly, without warning, drop from the Florida skies. With a long body piece and a big hooded cap, this poncho will keep you dry from head to toe. It also comes with a matching carrying case so you don't have to worry about lugging a drenched poncho around the park after your excursion down a "waterfall" at Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom.
A four-pack of cooling towels because that Florida sun can be brutal. Just soak it in some cold water at any sink/water fountain, wring it, and place it on your neck for some much-needed relief! These towels will stay chilly for several hours, saving you from having to refresh in every country you pass through in Epcot. Bonus: each towel comes with a carrying pouch and a carabiner clip, so you can just clip it onto your backpack for easy access!
A Disney ear holder that clips onto your backpack for the times when your head is tired of propping up those famous Mickey ears, but you still want them on public display. With the ability to hold up to two ears, this strap is great for parents when your little ones might be over wearing the ears, and you don't want them to take up any space in your bag.
A trendy pair of polarized sunglasses to block out the sun's rays while you're enjoying the weather. No need to fear losing these bad boys while aboard Expedition Everest; these polarized glasses (while cute) are extremely affordable, so you can even keep a backup pair on hand in case a Yeti happens to board your train and run away with your original pair
A handheld fan that will bring some much-needed cooling relief as you trek your way through your favorite rides. Small and compact, with two different speed functions, this fan is a necessity, especially during the height of summer. No need to let the humidity ruin your day, this FAN-tastic device will ensure your vacation remains as cool as can be. (Plus: the fan also works as a backup portable charger!)
And a stroller fan so that your little one stays cool in the heat as well! The fan's head can adjust vertically and horizontally in any direction to create the perfect cooling breeze while also having three speeds so you can ensure your baby is at the perfect temperature. Now, the fear of your child overheating can disappear as swiftly as Peter Pan at the sight of an adult!
A four-pack of reusable straws because absolutely nobody enjoys the taste of the soggy paper straws that grace every Disney concession stand and restaurant. This straw is collapsible and fits into a small carrying case, which can also be clipped onto your backpack, making it incredibly convenient to carry without feeling like it's taking up some much-needed space. Absolutely perfect for that midday Pandoran Sunrise you'll be happy to sample at Animal Kingdom.
A Body Glide anti-chafe balm you'll want to apply liberally before boarding the Monorail. The last thing you want during your vacation is any pain halting your ability to walk freely through the parks. With this balm, say goodbye to chafing troubles and say hello to magical relief!
And an anti-blister foot balm to ease the pain of walking over 10 miles through four different parks all in a single day. This will add a layer of protection between you and your shoes so you can skip through Moana's Journey of Water with ZERO pain! Vanish the potential of blisters with this balm — even Tinkerbell herself will be jealous of how magical this product seems!
A two-pack of reusable snack bags because sometimes hunger pangs hit right in the middle of a line, when exiting to purchase a bite to eat is pretty much impossible. These bags come with a zippered closure and are made from waterproof fabric, so no need to fear the splatters from Tiana's Bayou Adventure tainting your go-to snack.
A foldable water bottle that will take up little space and be the hydrating savior of your park day. Buying several bottles of water while inside the park will get expensive FAST, so having a refillable bottle on hand is key, especially when they can roll into a small size so that they don't take up too much room. A much-needed addition to your park essentials when you find yourself incredibly thirsty while waiting to meet Princess Jasmine.
A 10-pack of mosquito-repellent bracelets you will be incredibly grateful you packed when love-bug season hits Florida. Powered by essential oils such as citronella, these bands can help repel pests without the need to douse yourself in bug spray several times a day. No mosquito will dare approach you as you embark on your theme park adventures; these bracelets will help keep the creepy-crawlies far, far away!
A tube of Neutrogena Ultrasheer SPF 70 sunscreen to protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun. This lightweight formula helps prevent sunburn without the heavy finish and is conveniently travel-sized, making it the perfect addition to your pre-Disney routine. With this lotion, the only sun you need to fear is the one that comes barreling toward you on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
A pack of compression socks that can help your circulation, foot swelling, and pain, and make it easier for you to hike across the Magic Kingdom parking lot. You can say goodbye to the days of leg swelling and hello to *sweet* relief as you march countless miles each day of your trip. Don't let the potential pain stop you from having the time of your life at the Happiest Place on Earth!
A Color Wow Dreamcoat anti-frizz hairspray to maintain those picture-perfect locks, despite the heat! This spray repels moisture to stop humidity from impacting your hair, leaving your hair feeling smooth and silky. Just spray it liberally on damp, towel-dried hair, then blow dry for the finishing touch. With this spray, your blowout will stay as perfect as Belle herself!
A Burt's Bees after-sun lotion perfect for bringing some relief to any sunburns that may occur while you're skipping across Tomorrow Land. With aloe and coconut oil, this skin lotion can soothe and bring hydrating relief to your sun-kissed skin.
A teensy, tiny, hands-free portable charger because you will be constantly using your phone to check the wait times, plan ahead with your Genie+, or just playing Charades with your family (or random strangers) while stuck in a line. Don't let its slim exterior fool you; it can charge a smartphone up to 1.5 times while still being light enough to comfortably carry around Hollywood Studios as you search for hidden Mickeys!
A pill organizer to keep all of your meds on hand so that you're not trying to dig through your bag for different bottles. With eight multi-size compartments, this carrier can safely store any size pill or vitamin you need. Small enough to fit in your pocket, this organizer will be your saving grace as you attempt to squeeze in just one more plushy from the Emporium into your bag.
A travel umbrella designed to block out both the constant Florida showers and the overbearing midday sun. This heavy-duty umbrella has eight sturdy fiberglass ribs, making it incredibly wind-resistant while still being able to fold into a small size. Don't miss your chance to join the line for Pandora's Flight of Passage just because of a little rain, this umbrella will help you make the most of your day no matter the weather!
A set of travel perfume carriers that can hold all of your favorite eau de parfums as you make your way around Epcot France. After sweating under the sun for a whole day, you will be happy you packed these sprays so that you can refresh yourself at your convenience.
A Miss Mouth's stain remover spray to help wipe away the Mickey Ice Cream Bar residue from your little one's shorts. Designed to remove even the toughest of stains, this spray is a necessity when wrangling your family through the parks while attempting to keep their clothes Instagram-worthy.
A three-pack of Disney-inspired lanyards so your family can keep their key cards strapped close to them at all times. With pouches to hold any additional cards or cash, these are great for anyone trying to waltz around Disney without the feeling of being weighed down by a wallet. Perhaps one of the most important items on this list, these ID holders are necessary for those who tend to misplace things more often than not.
A pair of aqua socks to protect your feet and save you from any pool slipping incidents while at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. Super lightweight and flexible, these socks are perfect for your water excursions during your ultimate Disney vacation!
A hand sanitizer holder because you should always have one on hand when you're in a place as crowded as Disney. Hook these cute keychains to your backpack and don't fear losing them on the monorail, your favorite scented sanitizer is always close by!
Or a Disney-edition Touchland hand sanitizer with a summery watermelon scent 🍉 if you wanna smell like a walking, talking tropical vacation as you sanitize.
Voila! I declare you ready for your Disney adventure!

5 Marvel movies worth watching again before 'Ironheart' comes out next week
For anyone who knows the name Ryan Coogler, "Ironheart" on Disney Plus is a show you're going to want to watch. Debuting next week, it looks like a light-hearted origin story for the character first introduced in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever," named Riri Williams. But Executive Producer Coogler has been on a roll lately. He not only directed that 2022 film but also the well-received "Sinners," which already has Oscar buzz. Plus, he directed the original "Black Panther" as it can be hard to keep all of these Disney shows straight if you haven't watched the recent Marvel films since they came out a few years ago. To help, here's a homework assignment. These five movies will serve as a refresher for the Black Panther superhero and help prepare you for going back to Wakanda when "Ironheart" comes out June 24. Each movie is also available to watch on Disney Plus making this assignment super easy. (Note: These movies are presented in the order of which ones are worth watching first, starting with the two main "Black Panther" films, but you can watch them in any order.) The film that started it all, "Black Panther" from 2018, starred the late Chadwick Boseman as a superhero gifted with super strength and even more super technology. He wore the Vibranium Panther Suit and had claws that could rip through just about anything. The most interesting character trait with Black Panther, though, was that he was also the King of Wakanda. That means there are elements of a monarchy to the series and a deep family dynamic. It's not quite clear how Riri Williams, as Ironheart, will factor into that equation. Once you are done watching "Black Panther," the next best option is to (re)watch "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" because it introduces the Ironheart character. We first meet Riri Williams as an MIT genius experimenting with vibranium technology. The film, released in 2022, was partly an origin story for Ironheart — even if the main story arc was more about the character Shuri becoming a new iteration of Black Panther. We also first meet the villain, Namor. Released way back in 2016, but still one of the best Marvel movies to date, "Captain America: Civil War" introduced Black Panther with a compelling backstory. Chadwick Boseman's character T'Challa is introduced in Civil War as the Prince of Wakanda. His father, King T'Chaka, is part of a delegation intending to sign the Sokovia Accords to put restrictions on the Avengers. He is killed when a bomb explodes, setting the stage for T'Challa to become not only King of Wakanda but also the Black Panther to honor his late father. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Marvel knows how to build momentum for their characters — at least, that was true back in 2018. After Black Panther came out in February 2019, the superhero emerged as a key player in "Avengers: Infinity War" that April. (It's hard to remember both films were released only months apart.) Fortunately, that meant it was also easy to remember Black Panther — who ends up leading a massive battle against Thanos and his army. In case any of us need a reminder (and this is a major spoiler alert): Black Panther was part of the blip in "Infinity War." His character is restored in "Avengers: Endgame," but due to the real-life passing of Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther mantle is passed to his on-screen sister Shuri in "Wakanda Forever. "That's a good backstory to keep in mind. "Ironheart" doesn't focus on Shuri, but we're sure there are flashbacks or references throughout the show. That's because Black Panther is a protector of sorts for Ironheart as Riri Williams learns the ropes.

Dispatch, Orlando: Discovering Disney's Cool Kid Summer
To lure kids and parents to Orlando this summer, Walt Disney World has been pulling out all the stops, in the form of a promotion called Cool Kid Summer. My colleague Christina Jelski has already written about summertime promos, which consists of perks, discounts and special park opportunities. New shows opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and a cool -- literally and figuratively -- play space at Epcot themed to Goofy is just the ticket when your little ones need to burn off some steam and parents need some air conditioning. There is also the promise of more character interactions, in-park Easter eggs and perks at some of the on-property resorts. And we were along for the ride. At Disney's invitation, we flew down over Memorial Day weekend (through Newark Airport, no less) with our teenage daughter and then stayed on for the kickoff of Cool Kid Summer with my 8-year-old, who officially qualifies as a cool kid -- the invitation was for families with kids ages 9 and younger, which is the Cool Kid sweet spot). With that came some firsthand looks at the new goodies Disney has on offer for families. The Cool Kid Summer branding on a snack stand at Walt Disney World Hollywood Studios. Photo Credit: Rebecca Tobin Now that Cool Kid Summer is live, parents checking in at Disney resorts will receive brochures for each of the four parks that pinpoint specific Cool Kid activities and provide tips for parents with young kids -- like where to buy diapers, sunscreen or formula -- and suggestions on how to live their best cool-kid life. For example, to complete a "scavenger hunt" at Magic Kingdom, kids must "sing with the Tiki birds," "ride a boat," and "strike a pose near Cinderella Castle." We previewed the two new shows at Hollywood Studios. "The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure" is located at the theater in Animation Courtyard, which is an official Cool Kids site: The courtyard will host jump-rope performers, games and crafts, plus an indoor DJ party. When we were there, my daughter joined in enthusiastically at double-dutch, and Donald Duck was on the scene for impromptu photos and hugs. At 20 minutes, "The Little Mermaid" is a super-condensed retelling of the Disney movie, in a blissfully air-conditioned theater. Grownups might miss some of the humor and quips of the movie, but kids will love it (plus, there's bubbles). The Ariel performer was excellent. A pop-up jump-rope games at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios for Cool Kid Summer, just outside the new "Little Mermaid" show. Photo Credit: Rebecca Tobin Down the street, though not officially part of Cool Kids is a slightly more sophisticated show called "Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After." Disney has been playing up its "misunderstood" cast of villains lately, and this show features Cruella De Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent (with supporting villains like Scar, Hades, Ursula and Gaston) trying to win the audience's approval for most sympathetic. These poor, unfortunate souls (sorry!) provide dynamite singing and effects, even if the smallest kids might not totally follow the plot. Over at Epcot is Goofycore. As Disney describes it, it's the "ultimate summer party" for youngsters at the CommuniCore Hall, with a DJ, interactive games and, yes, Goofy. During our Goofycore visit, the kids played limbo and Goofy Says with a group of high-energy cast members and Goofy, and then there was music while kids ran around and were lightly directed by the cast members and messed with soft building blocks. The games are structured so that all young ages can participate to the best of their ability -- or wander in and out of the play. There is seating and air conditioning, which makes it a perfect break for parents and kids alike. Outside CommuniCore Hall is the "Celebration Encanto" show, where families can relax on shaded Astroturf and partake in a song and dance party. One thing about Cool Kid that most travelers and advisors know: Florida in the summer is hot. We've developed all sorts of coping mechanisms to keep the kids cool on the road, and we have a big arsenal of water bottles, hats and so on. But the nice thing about the events we attended was that most were coupled with a chance to get indoors for a bit and get a break from the heat. (It also rained every night during our stay -- drenching, thunderstorm-type rains -- so bring a poncho and stay flexible.) At Magic Kingdom, the Big Top Bash at Fantasyland and Galactic Blast at Tomorrowland are other Cool Kid gathering spots, with DJ dance parties with Pluto and Stitch, respectively. And even though Animal Kingdom doesn't have a Cool Kid pop-up per se, my cool kid loved that park for its Wilderness Explorers program, and she went all around looking for cast members who would teach her about nature and animals and earn "badges" for her explorer book. Now, with all these dance parties and games, do you think your young kid will head back to the resort exhausted? Maybe, but my bet is that the parents will be the exhausted ones while the kids rev back up at the pool. In any case, we stayed at Art of Animation, one of Disney's Value resorts and a Cool Kid hot spot. The resort's daily program included additional Cool Kid activities such as a "Wake Up, Shake Up" dance party in the morning, character interactions in the lobby and movie night by the pool. It's good fun if you build in a resort day during your stay.

Multiple theater fans ‘fall ill' waiting in heat to watch Rachel Zegler perform ‘Evita' balcony scene amid backlash: report
Multiple theater fans received medical help after they 'fell ill' while standing in sweltering temperatures to see Rachel Zegler perform from an outdoor balcony during the hit West End production of 'Evita.' Over 200 excited fans waited outside the London Palladium for hours in nearly 90-degree heat on Thursday to see Zegler, known for starring in Disney's live-action flop 'Snow White,' sing 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' for free as part of the musical, according to The Sun. But not everyone made it to the show's most famous number, which served as the Act II opener. 5 Rachel Zegler performed 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' from the balcony of the London Palladium.'We were called at 8:16 p.m. (sic) yesterday to reports of a person unwell in Argyll Street, central London,' a London Ambulance Service told the outlet. Two ambulance crews responded to the theater, where Zegler made her West End debut in the Jamie Lloyd's production just days earlier. 'While treating the patient, our crews were called to help a second person who was unwell nearby,' the spokesperson added. 'One patient was taken to [the] hospital and the second was given medical advice and discharged at the scene.' Zegler reshared a series of Instagram posts from paid ticketholders who praised her performance on Thursday night — but has not publicly commented about the fans who got sick while waiting to see her sing outside. 'Crowd control is bad enough on the public street but with the heat it's becoming really dangerous,' a source told the outlet. The Post has reached out to the Zelger's team for comment. 5 Hundreds waited outside the venue to see Zegler perform the most popular song in 'Evita' on Thursday. Ian West/PA Images/INSTARimages 5 Two people fell ill while waiting to see the actress perform in sweltering temperatures. Invision The scare is just the latest controversy attached to the production. At the start of Act II, Zegler, playing Eva Perón, the former First Lady of Argentina, walks out on the balcony overlooking the street outside the venue and sings 'Don't Cry For Me Argentina' to unpaid audiences outside the theater while ticketholders inside watch via live stream. The uncommon creative decision angered fans who paid hundreds of dollars to see Zegler in the show directed by Lloyd, who is known for his unconventional staging in shows like Broadway's 2023 revival of 'A Doll's House' and 2024 revival of 'Sunset Boulevard.' 5 The West End revival of 'Evita' opens July 1. Brett D. Cove / 5 The musical will have a 12-week limited engagement in London. Invision One fan called the livestream decision 'a bit of a rip off' to ticket holders inside. 'If I paid for a theater ticket, I wouldn't be so thrilled that I couldn't see all of the performance in person,' one person commented on X. But some theater fans promote the decision to have her sing on the balcony. 'The show is about Eva Peron giving power to the people,' a social media user on TikTok wrote. 'Singing this song on the balcony to the people who can't afford tickets makes so much sense.' The musical debuted on Broadway in 1979 with book and lyrics by Tim Rice and music composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber. London's revival of the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical officially opens July 1 and is scheduled for a 12-week limited engagement.
