Missing person: have you seen Sahil Kumar?
Hamilton police are asking the public for help finding a missing 22-year-old international student who only recently arrived in Canada.
Sahil Kumar, 22, was reported missing by concerned friends on Saturday, and was last seen the day prior, May 16, around 12:50 p.m. leaving Union Station in Toronto and walking toward York Street, police said in a release.
Kumar is studying at Humber College in Toronto and is not familiar with the area.
Records show his PRESTO card was used at Union Station at 12:44 p.m. on May 16, police said. His cellphone has been off since 1:31 p.m. that day and his passport and laptop were left at his Hamilton residence.
Police said they are working with Metrolinx, hospitals, Toronto Police Service and Humber College and are reviewing surveillance video.
Nothing in the investigation suggests he was in physical or mental distress before going missing, police said. His online activity suggests he may have been intending to visit the Toronto waterfront.
He may also have sought shelter at a local Gurdwaras, where police are encouraging community members to check.

Man arrested at Walk with Israel for 'yelling anti-semitic slurs': Toronto police
A man was arrested at the Walk with Israel in Toronto on Sunday for allegedly 'yelling anti-Semitic slurs at attendees.' The Toronto Police Service charged Tarek Ibrahem, 57, with mischief interference with property and causing a disturbance on Sunday afternoon, according to a news release. The case is being led by the city's Hate Crime Unit. 'Wilful promotion of hatred and advocating genocide are hate propaganda (hate speech) offences which require the Attorney General's consent to lay charges. These charges are often laid at a later time,' police said. 'If a person is charged and convicted of the offence, the Judge will take into consideration hate as an aggravating factor when imposing a sentence.' The annual event held in a predominantly Jewish neighbourhood in northern Toronto drew over 50,000 participants, many carrying Israeli and Canadian flags. The largest crowd of anti-Israel protesters was stationed at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue, a block shy of the walk's endpoint at the Prosserman Jewish Community Centre (JCC). Ibrahem was arrested just south of the intersection at York Downs Drive. Toronto police spokeswoman Stephanie Sayer told National Post in an email on Monday morning that police cannot comment on the matter because it 'is now before the courts.' 'We investigate every reported instance of hate, including those that occur at demonstrations. As we've shown in the past, charges can be laid at any time – days or even weeks after an incident – as evidence is gathered. We remain committed to holding individuals accountable,' Sayer said in a statement. Ibrahem is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on July 9. Johor police to tighten security, manage traffic for PKR congress this week
JOHOR BARU, May 20 — Johor police will implement precautionary safety and security measures to ensure the smooth running of the PKR National Congress 2025, set to take place in the city this week, said state police chief Datuk M. Kumar. He said the three-day event, beginning this Thursday, will be held at four venues: Johor Persada International Convention Centre, Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, Danga Bay Convention Centre, and Toppen shopping centre. 'We have deployed additional police personnel to all four locations where the congress activities will be held from Thursday to Saturday. 'However, traffic congestion is expected as about 10,000 attendees, including party members, delegates, and guests, are anticipated,' he said at a blood donation drive held in conjunction with the 218th Police Day Celebrations at the Johor police contingent headquarters today. Kumar assured that police do not anticipate any major issues during the congress. He urged all attendees to adhere to the organisers' rules and guidelines to ensure the event proceeds smoothly. 'No matter the programme, the public must comply with the law. As long as the law is followed, there should be no problems,' he said. On potential traffic congestion as the congress coincides with the weekend, Kumar said the police are prepared to manage the situation. He added that no road closures will be implemented in the city during the event. The PKR National Congress was initially scheduled for December 14 and 15 last year but was postponed due to severe flooding in several states, including Johor.
