Is this the antidote to the housing crisis? The YouTube series showcasing chic – and tiny
I've been invited into the homes of architects in Buenos Aires, voguish designers in Hong Kong, community organisers in Sydney and writers in Paris – except that I haven't, not really.
Really what I'm doing is watching episodes of Never Too Small on YouTube. Never Too Small is a media company that makes a magazine and an online documentary series dedicated 'to small footprint design and living'. To me, Never Too Small is 'the company that makes my favourite television show, which I watch while eating toast'.
Episodes go live weekly and there are more than 100. Their length (generally less than 10 minutes) is perfect. The soothing graphics of ancient buildings and bustling metropolitan streets are so chic. The minimal music will make you feel as though your insides are in a warm bath. When you start watching these videos, you realise you need more than 100. Suddenly 100 feels like three. It's like discovering chocolate for the first time then being told that it's only a 'sometimes' food.
Ostensibly the series is meant to demonstrate that humans don't actually need to build massive cathedrals to be comfortable. This is a fascinating message to receive in Australia, where we're told daily that if we don't own property on a parcel of land that takes a day and a half to trot across, we may as well be dead. (We have either Banjo Patterson or McLeod's Daughters to blame.) Even the guy from Grand Designs said Australia's obsession with huge houses is revolting! Well, he didn't use those exact words but it was something like that. Never Too Small shows us that people around the world are taking tiny townhouses and shoebox apartments and making better homesteads than those McLeod girls could have dreamed of.
Now, I love Never Too Small. I love things that are small. I want to fold myself up into sixteenths and place myself into an envelope and post myself off in a (tiny) letterbox belonging to a bunny in a minuscule beret. I gotta say, though: some of these homes do not feel small!
'Is this small?' I'll sometimes ask my partner, while we're eating our toast. 'Is this small?' he'll say back because neither of us really know. What is small? Is small a trick of the mind? Some of these places have courtyards!
Looking at the square footage – which is helpfully disclosed at the start of each video – they are actually quite small. 'I live in a small house and I don't crow about it,' you might be thinking, but do you have a Wes Anderson-inspired display of precious stones? What about an airy community library? Or a cabin that separates in two so you can sleep under the stars (but still in your bed, you're not a caveman)? You don't, which is why these small homes are special.

It's fascinating to see how these spaces are transformed. (It's also hurtful when the owners describe the before shot as 'drab' since it so closely resembles my own apartment.) The bath is almost always the first thing to go, which I find disturbing. An oven gets the chop too, if they're the sort of professional who prefers to eat out. Sometimes there's no bath, no oven, but there is a climbing wall.
The subjects wear carefully steamed clothes, artful sneakers and have interesting jobs. Even their pets seem to know more about life than I ever will (you can just tell, something about the arch of the eyebrow). 'When we host dinner parties, we can pull this custom bench seat out and accommodate eight to 10 people,' they say, gesturing to the most beautiful block of wood you've ever seen. Imagine being the sort of person who hosts dinner parties! Imagine knowing eight to 10 people!
The writer, scientist and serious-looking guy Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once wrote: 'He is happiest, be he king or peasant, who finds peace in his home.' Which, sure. But I find the most peace looking at videos of other people's clever homes. We're all one reclaimed wood dining table or tiny piano away from complete bliss. Never Too Small, never stop.

Tammy Hembrow's ex-husband Matt Zukowski likes shady comment about their split - as shock truth about their relationship emerges
Matt Zukowski has made a wild claim about his ex-wife Tammy Hembrow after they confirmed their split on Sunday. The Love Island Australia star, 29, liked a shady comment on Instagram before telling fans they 'didn't know what Tammy was really like'. One person commented on an episode of his Where's Your Head At? podcast: 'He's freeeeeee!!!!!! Congratulations.' Matt liked the comment before responding to another follower who questioned why he would leave Tammy. 'Actually don't understand how this man could or would want to stuff it up. Tammy is a dream girl,' they wrote. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Matt responded: 'You don't know her...' Tammy and Matt confirmed their split on Sunday after just seven months of marriage. The Love Island Australia star announced the couple's separation in a sombre Instagram Story, telling fans the decision was not taken lightly. 'It's with a heavy heart I share that Tammy and I have decided to separate,' Matt began. 'Both of us have struggled with making this decision however we need to do what is right for ourselves and her three children. 'This wasn't a decision we took lightly. Our time together will always be cherished and never forgotten,' he added, before thanking fans for their support and asking for privacy. Despite their short-lived marriage, both parties have asked for privacy as they adjust to life post-breakup. 'We appreciate everyone's support and space at this time as we navigate the split,' Matt concluded in his emotional post. Tammy later addressed the split in an emotional TikTok video, telling fans she will be getting a divorce. 'I don't want to get into the details and I want to be sensitive to everyone involved,' she told fans. 'Obviously when you marry someone, you do it thinking that it is going to be forever and I blame no one but myself,' Tammy continued while breaking down in tears. 'I've made not the best choices when it comes to relationships. I'm good at putting on rose-colored glasses. 'Obviously the worst part for me is that I have kids. I don't care about me, I know I will be ok but I feel awful.' The news came less than 24 hours after Matt was spotted spending time with sports journalist Tayla Little at the London Tavern in Melbourne on Saturday night. Matt and Tammy sparked speculation surrounding the state of their whirlwind romance in recent weeks, with many fans convinced the pair had quietly split. Tammy, 31, first sparked concern in March after she was spotted crying in a bathroom, while Matt was later overheard allegedly ' talking crap' about his wife at a South Melbourne gym. In the weeks that followed, Matt quietly moved out of the couple's Queensland home and relocated back to Melbourne, where he resumed working for his father's pool business. While Matt continued to co-host his podcast Where's Your Head At? with ex-girlfriend and fellow Love Island alum Anna McEvoy, Tammy was noticeably absent from his social media. Meanwhile, the Gold Coast-based influencer has remained in Queensland with her three children - son Wolf, nine, daughter Saskia, seven, and toddler Posy, three - from previous relationships. Matt was notably missing from several major family events over the past two months, including Tammy's 31st birthday, Posy's fairy-themed third birthday party, and even Easter weekend. Despite exchanging vows in a glamorous Byron Bay ceremony just under a year ago and getting matching tattoos to mark their love, fans quickly noticed Matt had been erased from most of Tammy's social media - save for a few lingering images from their Vogue Australia wedding spread. She even hinted at emotional distress in a tearful video posted to Instagram earlier this month. 'I definitely don't like to pretend I am okay when I am not,' she said at the time, appearing without her wedding or engagement rings. 'I just feel like pretending is doing me more harm than good.' The video was followed by a series of cryptic TikToks and Instagram posts, including one captioned, 'when something feels off it is usually women's intuition.' Last week, Tammy teased a possible new career pivot amid the drama - telling fans she was considering launching a podcast as a form of therapy. 'I'm thinking of starting a podcast guys, because I feel like I have a lot to say. So would you listen if I did? Just food for thought,' she wrote on Instagram. Her post further fuelled speculation that a tell-all could be coming, especially given the mounting curiosity around her now-confirmed split from Matt. Tammy and Matt tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Chateau Du Soleil in Byron Bay on November 23. They got engaged in December 2023 following just three months of dating. The jet-setting pair were engaged in the Maldives, before heading off to Greece and Bali for luxury holidays. Tammy has been engaged twice before, the first time to influencer Reece Hawkins, who she shares her son Wolf and daughter Saskia with.

Millie Mackintosh reveals close encounter with SHARKS after 'embarrassing' late night skinny-dipping on holiday
Millie Mackintosh has recalled an embarrassing moment she decided to go skinny dipping, unaware she was swimming amongst sharks. The former Made In Chelsea star, 35, was on holiday in Australia with pals, staying on Fraser Island [K'gari]. Millie, who was 18 at the time, and her friends had been warned not to swim in the sea because of neighbouring sharks, though decided to break the rules and try skinny dipping one night. Speaking to The Times, she explained: 'I thought that as long as I stayed close to the shore it would be fine. 'Suddenly these two lifeguards came running across the beach, waving at me. I could just hear them shouting, 'Get out of the water — it's shark mating season!' 'I had no clothes on, but in the end I decided that being embarrassed in front of the lifeguards was better than being eaten. 'When you're young you don't always do the most sensible things.' Meanwhile, Millie recently showed off her toned physique while on a family holiday to Turkey last month. She had been keeping fans updated during her relaxing break while topping up her bronzed complexion. Millie shared a collection of her gorgeous summery looks from the trip to her 1.4million followers on Instagram. In one picture, the busy mother wore a tiny blue and white bikini while showing off her collection of looks from her getaway. The star also recently opened up on her sexuality as she revealed she struggled during her younger years. She told how she would only find the coverage to 'kiss' women when she was drunk. Speaking to Caggie Dunlop's Saturn Returns Podcast, Millie said: 'As a teen when I would drink, I would make out with women, but that's not something I felt confident to do when I was sober... 'I had crushes on girls at school and I just didn't have the awareness to go ''I like girls as well.'' I'd just have crushes and get all weird about them. I remember having sleepovets and going ''I wonder if they're going to kiss me.''' Millie added that a lot of her struggles have been unpacked in therapy, telling Caggie: 'I've explored a lot of my relationship to women, I was bullied so I definitely have intimacy issues with women, but there's this attraction as well. 'Obviously I'm married to a man, it's not something that affects our relationship at all now, but looking back and realising that was one of the reasons I drank in a destructive way, because there was a part of myself I didn't understand and I didn't know how to express it and I felt scared to express it. 'Everytime I would drink I would just keep doing it, even if I was in a relationship.' Millie went sober in 2022 and has spoken honestly about her battle with drink, releasing her very own book titled 'Bad Drunk'. Sharing the moment she opened up to husband Hugo Taylor about her sexuality, she revealed that he was incredibly supportive.
