Watch: McCullum Praises Rishabh Pant, Gautam Gambhir Reacts To Front Flips
Last Updated: BCCI's behind-the-scenes footage of Rishabh Pant's day out in Headingley showed him getting praised by opposition head coach Brendon McCullum and applauded by Gautam Gambhir. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared some fascinating behind-the-scenes footage of Rishabh Pant's day out on Saturday (June 22) during the first Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Test at Headingley, Leeds, which includes the reaction from the dressing room to his front flips in the middle. The video began with Pant walking out for his knock before the day. He had not out at 65 at the end of the opening clash. Pant greeted a few people before meeting England head coach Brendon McCullum, who was standing near the pitch alongside pundit Michael Atherton. McCullum gave him a 'Well played' before he began his practice. On his way back to the pavilion to pad up, Pant also met England legend Alastair Cook, who was also all praise. The camera then showed Gautam Gambhir and his staff in the dressing room and Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and other players in the pavilion reacting to his century and the acrobatic front flips with smiles, applause and some hooting. Watch the video here: ????????????. ????????????????????????????????????. ???????????????????????????? #TeamIndia | #ENGvIND | @RishabhPant17 — BCCI (@BCCI) June 21, 2025 Pant got out for 134 (178), an innings that included 12 fours and six maximums, the most by a visiting wicketkeeper batter in an innings England. He became the first wicketkeeper-batter in the world to score three Test centuries against England in England, while also surpassing MS Dhoni for the most centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket. His knock played a big part in India finishing the innings with a good 471/10. In reply, England scored 209/3 with number three batter Ollie Pope unbeaten at 100 (131). 'Rishabh Pant is someone who makes his own plans," India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said about the wicketkeeper after the end of the day's play. 'He decides (the way) and (then) he bats. This innings was a little different than you would see him normally but honestly that is all his plans. The way he wanted to approach it and when he wanted to attack, he did (and just) because he plays aggressive (cricket) does not mean he cannot play defensive," Kotak added. First Published:

' Main Bhi Khel Raha Hu ': Rishabh Pant Taunts Ravindra Jadeja, Stump Mic Catches Epic Banter
Indian cricket team wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant was at his witty best during Day 2 of the first Test match against England as he was caught having a hilarious conversation with Ravindra Jadeja. In a video posted by Star Sports on X (formerly Twitter), Pant was heard delivering one of his classic one-liners while Jadeja was bowling. Jadeja deliveried a ball that was wide down the leg-side and Pant had to leap in order to gather it properly. Pant was left amused by the delivery as he shouted towards Jadeja: 'Mai bhi khel raha hu bhai, apne chauke ke chakkar mein mera chaukka mat dedena' (I am also playing, brother. In order to not go for a four, don't give send me for a four)". . @RishabhPant17 + @ShubmanGill = Absolute cinema! These two don't play the game, they put on a show! #ENGvIND 1st TEST, Day 3 | SUN, 22nd JUNE, 2:30 PM Streaming On JioHotstar! — Star Sports (@StarSportsIndia) June 21, 2025 Later in the video, captain Shubman Gill was also heard talking to Jadeja during his over as he said that Ben Duckett was getting confused by Jadeja's deliveries and urged him to continue with his strategy. Gill said: 'Abhi ye pura confused hai Jaddu bhai, kaunsi seedhi hai aur kaunsi udhar. Aayega iska!' (Now he's completely confused, Jaddu brother, he doesn't know which one will turn. He'll get out soon!)'. Top-order batter Ollie Pope smashed an unbeaten century, his ninth in Tests, as England trail India by 262 runs after reaching 209/3 in 49 overs at stumps on Day Two of the first Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series at Headingley here on Saturday. It was a day when India were primed to get a big total, after reaching 430/3 - thanks to Shubman Gill making a career-best 147 and Rishabh Pant somersaulting his way to an astonishing 134 – his seventh ton in the format. But after Gill departed, India lost their last seven wickets for just 41 runs to be bowled out for 471 in 113 overs. A sudden burst of rain meant England's innings had a delayed start, and they then had to deal with a menacing Jasprit Bumrah, who picked 3-45. But Pope and Ben Duckett added 122 runs for the second wicket to bring some normalcy into England's innings. While Duckett fell for 62, Pope overcame his usual nervous start to score his ninth Test hundred, laced with 13 fours, before walking off undefeated after putting England in a comfortable position. It also helped the duo that India's bowling attack, minus Bumrah, wasn't that penetrative.

Shubman Gill Makes Sanjay Manjrekar Eat His Words. Ex India Star Admits: "Did Not Think..."
Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar believes that Indian captain Shubamn Gill and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring centuries on the opening day of the first Test against England are the massive positives for the touring side. Overall, India's batting unit prowess was on display with KL Rahul and vice-captain Rishabh Pant also scoring runs for the side to take India to a dominating score of 359/3 at stumps on Friday. Gill, who is leading the Test side for the first time, led from the front and hammered his first overseas ton to announce himself at the captaincy role in style. Jaiswal too was promising as he also reached the three-figure mark on his maiden Test in England. Manjrekar reflected on India's promising start to the Test series and the broader gains for the team. 'This is something I have maintained about the series - a lot of people keep asking what the scoreline will be, whether India will win or lose. But I have said all along: India has nothing to lose, only gains to make from this series. We have already seen so much on Day 1 itself. Shubman Gill has scored his first overseas hundred of real significance. Yashasvi Jaiswal has shown that he is not just a force at home - he can deliver on English pitches too. KL Rahul looked solid, and now we are seeing Rishabh Pant finding his form again. These are massive positives," he said on Match Centre Live after the conclusion of Day 1. Manjrekar assessed Gill's captaincy and applauded his technical improvements with the bat. "Let me go right back to when he was made captain - I was against it, to be honest. I felt Jasprit Bumrah would have been the better and more logical choice, without thinking too far ahead into the future. I did not think it was the right decision at the time. But was Shubman Gill going to be a failure as captain? No. Temperamentally, we knew he would not carry the anxiety of captaincy into his batting - that was always clear. "The only concern was that he was still evolving, especially when it came to overseas conditions. But today, he addressed key technical areas that had previously stopped him from getting a big overseas hundred. Yes, the pitch was good and the bowling wasn't too challenging, but once those technical flaws were ironed out, everything else - especially his temperament - stood out as a strength," the former batter said. With Gill unbeaten on 127 and Pant not out on 65, India have a chance to post a gigantic total in the first innings at Headingley on Day 2.
