Global Visitors Summit set to transform travel trade connections in Dubai
The Global Visitors Summit (GVS) is coming to Dubai for the first time this August, bringing with it an unprecedented opportunity for the UAE's travel and hospitality industry to connect with top-tier global travel buyers in one place, at one time.
Taking place on August 25–26 at the striking SO/ Uptown Hotel Dubai, the GVS will welcome 80 hosted travel buyers from some of the most dynamic outbound markets — including India, the CIS, GCC, Europe, and Brazil. These buyers represent a powerful mix of leisure travel specialists, MICE planners, OTAs, tour operators, and corporate travel agencies, each actively selling and promoting travel into the UAE and Gulf region.
The GVS is built for efficiency and precision. Participating suppliers — from hotels, DMCs, attractions, shopping malls, museums, destinations, car rental companies, and airlines — can pre-select the buyers they want to meet, tailoring the schedule to match their business priorities, whether leisure groups, business travel, or MICE.
Over the course of two days, suppliers will enjoy:
• 55 pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings with handpicked buyers
• A complete directory of all 80+ participating buyers, not just those scheduled for appointments
• 15-minute structured sessions at buyer meeting points, with guaranteed punctuality and professionalism
• A powerful and focused environment designed to maximize business opportunities
"The GVS was designed with one goal: to make global travel business development easy, smart, and personal," says Alexander Glos, CEO of the China i2i Group, which organises the event in partnership with DNATA Representation Services in the UAE and One Rep Global in India.
"We're bringing together top-tier global buyers with a specific interest in the UAE and GCC region, all under one roof, and giving travel suppliers the tools to connect, collaborate, and convert.'
Side-by-Side with China Visitors Summit
The GVS will run concurrently with the China Visitors Summit (CVS), which hosts 150 Chinese travel buyers—making this the largest B2B travel event of its kind ever held in the UAE, with 220 global buyers in total. Participants in either summit will have the option to access both events, dramatically expanding their business reach across the world's most important growth markets.

Qatar's Economy to Grow 6.5 Per Cent by 2027
Qatar's economy is set to accelerate significantly over the next two years, with growth projected to rise from 2.4 per cent in 2025 to an average of 6.5 per cent in 2026–2027, according to the World Bank's Gulf Economic Update. The sharp rise in growth will be driven primarily by the North Field LNG expansion, which is expected to boost Qatar's liquefied natural gas (LNG) output by 40 per cent, transforming the country's hydrocarbon sector performance. While hydrocarbon growth is expected to remain modest at 0.9 per cent in 2025, the World Bank anticipates a major turnaround once the new LNG capacity comes online, cementing Qatar's position as a global energy leader. In parallel, non-hydrocarbon sectors such as education, tourism, and services continue to show strong momentum, supported by infrastructure investment and international partnerships. This diversification effort is central to Qatar's long-term economic vision. Key insights from the World Bank report: Qatar's economic growth: 2.4 per cent in 2025, rising to 6.5 per cent in 2026–2027 2.4 per cent in 2025, rising to 6.5 per cent in 2026–2027 Gulf-wide GDP: Projected to reach 3.2 per cent in 2025 and 4.5 per cent in 2026 Projected to reach 3.2 per cent in 2025 and 4.5 per cent in 2026 Non-oil growth across the GCC: Driven by structural reforms, investment, and private sector activity Driven by structural reforms, investment, and private sector activity 2024 regional growth: Improved to 1.7 per cent, up from just 0.3 per cent in 2023 Despite the upbeat forecast, the World Bank cautioned that global trade tensions and potential economic slowdown remain risks for Gulf economies. To safeguard future prosperity, it urged continued focus on economic diversification, innovation, and youth job creation. Division Director for the GCC countries at the World Bank Safaa El Tayeb El-Kogali said: 'The resilience of GCC countries in navigating global uncertainties while advancing economic diversification underscores their strong commitment to long-term prosperity. 'Strategic fiscal policies, targeted investments, and a strong focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation for youth are essential to sustaining growth and stability' Also read: Qatar Launches World's Largest 3D-Printed Building Project With Two Futuristic Schools

UAE Universities See Surge in Student Applications Amid US Visa Uncertainty
Universities across the UAE are reporting a notable increase in international student applications, as ongoing delays and uncertainties surrounding student visa processing in the United States push students to seek more accessible alternatives. With growing concerns over restrictive policies and prolonged visa wait times in the US, students and parents are increasingly turning to UAE-based institutions for stability, safety, and streamlined admission processes. Higher education institutions in cities such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Ajman have all noted a significant rise in student interest for the 2025 academic year. The shift is attributed largely to disruptions in the US student visa process and changing international education policies. University leaders say the UAE's strong infrastructure, globally accredited programs, and supportive visa environment make it an increasingly attractive destination for international learners. The ability for students to work part-time, live in some of the world's safest cities, and stay geographically closer to home has added to the country's appeal. The surge in applications is also being driven by a broader trend of students reconsidering long-standing study abroad plans, particularly those targeting American institutions. As the global education landscape continues to evolve, the UAE is positioning itself as a regional hub for world-class higher education, offering international students both academic opportunity and peace of mind.

EDGE, FAB sign strategic deal to build resilient financial ecosystem
EDGE Group, one of the world's leading advanced technology and defence groups, has entered a strategic partnership with First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB). The agreement covers two major financial initiatives: the implementation of FAB's advanced Supply Chain Finance (SCF) solution and the deployment of its AI-powered Treasury Management System (TMS). EDGE said its deployment of FAB's AI-powered TMS represents the largest to date. The solution delivers real-time cash visibility, advanced forecasting capabilities, and integrated risk management tools, enabling EDGE to automate treasury operations and optimise liquidity across the Group. The platform provides protection for interest rate risk and FX risk, while improving financial agility, investment planning, and funding, it stated. EDGE Managing Director and CEO Hamad Al Marar said: "Our partnership with FAB is a strategic enabler of our global industrial ambitions. It reinforces the financial architecture required to operate at scale, with speed and resilience. In an increasingly competitive and complex environment, this alignment ensures we remain agile, well-capitalised, and positioned for sustained international growth." Group Head of Wholesale Banking Martin Tricaud said: "FAB's partnership with EDGE marks a step forward in building a more resilient supplier ecosystem. We recognise that effective cashflow and supply chain finance are fundamental to sustainable business models. By combining our global expertise with innovative financial solutions, we are enhancing financial agility and enabling long-term value creation." "Through FAB's digital SCF solution, EDGE provides local and international suppliers access to early, low-cost financing, which enhances supplier trust, improves commercial terms, and ensures continuity across critical operations," he added. Group Chief Financial Officer Rodrigo Torres said: "This partnership reflects EDGE's commitment to embedding financial sophistication and innovation at the core of our operations. By integrating FAB's advanced SCF and AI-powered TMS platforms, we are optimising liquidity and supplier performance while also reinforcing our ability to manage risk and scale with confidence." Torres, said to date, over AED1.6 billion in invoices have been processed, unlocking more than AED1.2 billion in off-balance sheet financing.
