LAPD seeks group of men in another attack on a transgender woman
The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public's help to find a group of men who they say attacked a transgender woman over the weekend and are believed to be the same people who attacked her in April.
According to LAPD, the group involved in a previous attack returned to the victim's location on May 31 at around 11:38 p.m. in the Westlake District of Los Angeles.
They assaulted the 61-year-old, leaving her with serious injuries. The group left the scene before authorities arrived.
According to the LAPD, one of the suspected attackers entered the victim's store on April 8 and began flirting with her. But once she rejected his advances, he left and later returned, pushing her to the ground.
'The suspect sexually assaulted the victim and discovered she was a transgender woman. The suspect pulled away and threatened to kill the victim,' the LAPD said.
The same man allegedly returned to the victim's location several times along with other men and committed other hate crimes against the victim which included striking her with a skateboard, deploying pepper spray, and throwing an unknown liquid substance at her while another man attempted to stun her with a Taser.
Detectives believe there may be other unidentified victims and are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspected attackers and released their photographs.

Taser used on man after single-vehicle crash in New Parks
A Taser was used on a man who was "obstructive" towards police after a single-vehicle crash in Police said officers were called to Aikman Avenue, in New Parks, at 11:27 BST on Saturday.A force spokesperson confirmed the two occupants of the vehicle were not seriously injured in the crash, which happened near the junction with Letchworth Road, but they became "obstructive towards officers".A Taser was discharged on a man, who along with a woman was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving offences and assault on an emergency worker, the spokesperson added.

Caerphilly drug dealer used runners to sell cocaine
Kyle Humphries, 27, was caught when officers boxed in his Vauxhall Astra, Newport Crown Court was told. 'He attempted to drive away and collided with a police car,' Elin Morgan, prosecuting, said. 'The driver's window was smashed and a Taser was drawn.' Humphries was found with 32.2g of cocaine which had a potential street value of £4,280. Text bombs were discovered on his phone advertising the class A drug and ketamine for sale. The defendant gave a 'no comment' interview when he was questioned by detectives at Ystrad Mynach police station. 'He played a leading role with runners working below him in the chain,' Miss Morgan added. Humphries, of Brynhyfryd, Pontlottyn, Caerphilly pleaded guilty to offering to supply cocaine and offering to supply ketamine in February last year. The offences were committed after he had been released from prison on licence for a similar offence. He was locked up for 34 months in 2022 for possession with intent to supply crack cocaine. Hashim Salmman, mitigating, told the court: 'The defendant knows that any representations I make on his behalf today will only go towards determining the length of his custodial sentence.' His barrister added that his client had been assessed by the probation service as presenting 'a low risk of reoffending'. Humphries, he revealed, had recently tried to take his own life and had been placed in an induced coma in hospital. 'The defendant has a long history of drug misuse,' Mr Salmman continued. 'He wants to get his life back on track. 'The defendant is well on his way to conquering his drug addiction.' The court was told that Humphries' grandmother is 'severely unwell' and had open heart surgery and that he had been caring for her. Judge Carl Harrison said to the defendant: 'You had an operational function in the chain and this was a street dealing. 'Your previous conviction for a similar offence is an aggravating feature.' Humphries was jailed for three years and eight months and ordered to pay a £228 victim surcharge following his release from prison.
