Khaleej Times30-03-2025

Muslims around the world are eagerly looking forward to the celebration of Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Since Islamic months can be either 29 or 30 days long, the end of Ramadan depends on the Moon sighting.
In the UAE, the moon was spotted on Saturday, meaning Ramadan would have lasted 29 days, and Eid would be celebrated on Sunday. Residents were in for a well-deserved four-day break to enjoy the festivities.
Countries around the world were also on the lookout for the Shawwal crescen t, and those that spotted it on Saturday have already declared Sunday, March 30, as the first day of Eid Al Fitr.
Here are all the countries that have confirmed Sunday as the first day of the Islamic festival so far:
UAE
The UAE's Moon sighting committee declared March 30 as Eid Al Fitr after the Shawwal crescent was spotted on the evening of March 29.
This means that UAE residents will get a four-day break to celebrate the Islamic festival, in the first long weekend of 2025. This aligns with the official UAE holiday calendar which had said that the Eid Al Fitr holiday would be from Shawwal 1 to Shawwal 3.
This year, an official announcement added that Sunday March 30 (Ramadan 30) will also be a paid holiday.
Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia had announced on March 29 that Eid Al Fitr will fall on March 30 in the Kingdom after the spotting of the Shawwal crescent.
The country has announced a four-day holiday for the private and non-profit sectors, according to Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
Bahrain
Bahrain's Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) announced that the country will be celebrating the first day of Eid Al Fitr on Sunday, corresponding to March 30, 2025.
The following countries will also be celebrating on Sunday, March 30, after the Shawwal crescent was spotted in their skies.
