Google Wallet users in the US get another upgrade this week
There are so many banks and credit unions in the United States that Google has been trying to add them to its Wallet support list since the app was launched back in 2022.
Google Wallet adds new names to the list of supported banks and financial institutions each month, to the point that it now supports over 5,000 (via AndroidPolice). This week, Google Wallet has added three dozen banks and credit unions to its list of supported financial institutions, pushing the total number over the 5,000 mark. The list includes mostly smaller banks and credit unions, which will now be able to provide their customers with advanced mobile payment features that the bigger names offer for quite some time. Google Wallet is more than just a mobile payment app | Screenshot by PhoneArena Google Wallet stopped being just a mobile payment app some time ago when the Mountain View company decided to turn it into a digital wallet where users can manage not just their credit/debit cards, but also store passes, tickets, keys, and even IDs.
The only disadvantage of the digital wallet is that Google Pay is not supported by all banks (currently available in 94 countries), but that's why Google is so focused on adding new names on the list of supported financial institutions each month.

Google Messages might soon give you the option to pressure those using SMS onto RCS
Google continues to double down on Rich Communication Services (RCS) support in Messages, and it's now preparing to roll out a feature that could give users some extra influence over their less tech-savvy contacts. According to findings in the latest open beta build of the Messages app ( Google is working on a new prompt that appears when someone in your chat list isn't using RCS. If the app detects that your contact still hasn't enabled RCS or is using a different messaging app entirely, it may offer you the option to send a reminder SMS encouraging them to make the switch. While the message is described as "friendly," the overall effect could easily feel like social pressure — especially if multiple contacts start sending similar reminders. The prompt will appear alongside the usual notification that messages are being sent as SMS or MMS, and from there, users will be able to send a message nudging their contact toward enabling RCS or installing Google Messages. Oakley Meta HSTN brings 3K video recording and improved battery endurance
Meta just announced its latest AR glasses with the new Oakley Meta HSTN (pronounced HOW-stuhn). These offer a few upgrades over the Ray-Ban Meta with the ability to record video in up to 3K resolution and longer-lasting battery life. Oakley Meta HSTN are targeted at athletes and offer the same basic functions as the Ray-Ban model but now record videos at 3K resolution compared to 1080p on the original. You get 5 microphones for voice pickup and built-in Bluetooth speakers for 'immersive audio experience'. The glasses can be used entirely hands-free with Meta AI assistant. You can start and end video recordings, play music, call and message contacts and ask general questions. Oakley Meta HSTN There's an integrated LED on the right corner to let others know you are recording. The right temple also features a touchpad for controls and a physical capture button on top. Oakley Meta HSTN offers IPX4 water resistance rating. Meta is also claiming up to 8 hours of battery life, which is double that of the Ray-Ban model. The bundled charging/carrying case extends the total endurance to 48 hours. Meta also shared that a recharge to 50% will only take 20 minutes.
