Moment shoplifting woman stuffs £400 worth of Jellycat toys down her trousers in audacious garden centre raid
A brazen Jellycats thief was filmed frantically stuffing £400-worth of soft toys down her trousers during a daring garden centre escapade.
Striking footage shows the shopping haul in Worcester on June 7 as the audacious woman grabs a 'significant amount' of stock.
The dishwater blonde, who wears a long coat and stripy scarf, at one point even stuffs an extra large toy animal in a bag before she hurries out of the St Peter's Garden Centre store.
It comes as Jellycats - different-shaped soft toys with quirky designs and soft material - have grown rapidly in demand over the past year.
William Blake, managing director of the raided shop, said: 'We were deeply disappointed by the incident, where a significant amount of stock - over £400 worth of Jellycat toys - was stolen from our store.
'As an independent, family-run business, every loss impacts not just our shelves but the hard-working team behind the scenes.
'Our staff work tirelessly to create a warm and welcoming environment for all visitors, and it's disheartening when that is taken advantage of.
'We're co-operating fully with local authorities and we'd like to thank our customers for the response to the video and all their continued support.'
West Mercia Police said: 'We received a report of theft from St Peter's Garden Centre on Wednesday (11 June).
'Enquiries are on-going.'
Jellycats shaped as peanuts, baguettes and marshmallows are said to be among the bestselling of the teddy bear range along with variously shaped bunnies and cats.
St Peter's Garden Centre is said to have one of the biggest Jellycat ranges in Worcestershire.
However, the store has said it receives the same amount of income as large supermarkets as it requires full-time security personnel to operate the stands.

Former West Yorkshire Police officer charged with assisting an offender
A former West Yorkshire Police officer has been charged with more than a dozen misconduct offences, including assisting an offender. Jenade Yamin, 30, who worked in Calderdale district, has been charged with 13 counts of misconduct in a public office which took place from November 2019 to May 2022, the force said. The charges follow an investigation by the force into computer misuse, unauthorised disclosure of police information, assisting an offender and fraud. Yamin resigned from West Yorkshire Police in 2023 while under investigation. He will appear at Bradford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Forbury Gardens fifth anniversary memorial service held
A service has been held to mark the fifth anniversary of a deadly attack in a park in which three men were killed. James Furlong, Joe Ritchie-Bennett and David Wails were fatally stabbed by Khairi Saadallah in Forbury Gardens, Reading, Berkshire, in was given a whole-life jail term for their at a memorial service attended by about 200 people, the mayor of Reading Alice Mpofu-Coles said people were "still moved" by the events of five years ago.
