The best Hong Kong events in June 2025
From now to July 13, Airside is hosting 'The World of ASMR' exhibition that was at London's Design Museum. This will be the Kai Tak venue's first time collaborating with an international museum since its opening, and we're so excited that it's going to be this special exhibition on the euphoria or calm triggered by sound, touch, and movement. This immersive experience delves into the crackles, pops, feather brushes, whispers, and tappy noises that have become a whole culture and community around the world. Showing over 40 works by contemporary artists, ASMRtists, and designers, the Hong Kong edition also features newly commissioned works by local artists which capture our city's unique auditory identity. The highlight of the show is a sculpture of wavy, bendy pillows woven together to form over a kilometre of squishy comfort, where visitors can lounge while watching various ASMR-related videos. There's even an entire room dedicated to Bob Ross, who many in the community dub the 'Godfather of ASMR'. Don't forget to try your hand at creating your own ASMR noises before you leave! Tickets to this exhibition at Gate33 Gallery cost $30.

Amouranth returns to Twitch after deleting post showing money earned at Kick
Two years after signing a deal with Kick, Amouranth has revealed she's making a grand return to Twitch. Kaitlyn Siragusa, aka Amouranth, is known for her controversial hot tub and ASMR livestreams, which have led to at least eight Twitch bans in the past. While her popularity began on Twitch, two years ago the streamer signed a non-exclusive deal with rival streaming platform Kick. The deal's exact worth is still unknown, but Amouranth publicly said it 'doubled my income across the board'. Over the past couple of years, Amouranth has still occasionally streamed on other platforms outside of Kick, including Twitch, but it appears she's now making a return on a more regular basis. On Thursday, June 19, Amouranth posted a video on X showing the streamer outside a 7-Eleven store, where she drives off in a vehicle which switches from green to purple. The video concludes with the message,'The Return', alongside a link to her Twitch channel. The original post for this video was captioned, '$38 million later…' – presumably the amount she earned from Kick over the past two years. However, this post has since been deleted and replaced with an updated version on Friday, June 20 which simply reads 'Today'. Today — Amouranth (@Amouranth) June 20, 2025 Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. It's unclear whether this new version was simply to re-promote her return, or if she got a telling off from Kick for revealing her income (or just became self-conscious about it), but the livestream is set to begin on Friday. More Trending The exact parameters around Amouranth's return to Twitch are also unknown. If it is a new deal, it will likely be non-exclusive, as the streamer has a huge presence on other platforms like OnlyFans. It's also unclear if she'll abandon Kick entirely, but the exact details might emerge during her 'return' stream later today. Despite being primarily a Kick streamer for two years, Amouranth still has over 6.2 million followers on Twitch. In comparison, she has 265,900 Kick followers. A number of other big streamers have signed deals with Kick over the past few years, as the platform looks to boost its viewership, including Félix Lengyel, aka xQc, Adin Ross, and Ice Poseidon. BTS members RM and V have completed their mandatory military service overnight The pair thanked fans but asked them to 'wait' for any BTS reunion to be undertaken Two more members are expected to be discharged this week - Jimin and JungKook From the BTS Army to the South Korean military, and now, once again, back with the BTS Army faithful – RM and V have been discharged from the military. As reported by The Associated Press, the members completed their mandatory military duty and were met by 200 fans in Chuncheon City this morning (June 10, 2025). The article stated that fans from all over the world came to see the popular duo finally return to civilian life. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Addressing the fans and media in attendance, V told the assembled crowd: 'To all the ARMYs who have waited for us in the military, I want to say I am truly, truly grateful. Please wait just a little longer and we will return with a really cool performance.' RM and V are the latest K-Pop idols to have completed their mandatory military service - but are there exemptions for K-Pop acts? | Getty Images RM and V began their service in December 2023, while three other BTS members — Jin, J-Hope, and Suga — were already months into their conscription. Jin, the oldest member of the K-pop supergroup, was discharged from the army in June 2024. J-Hope was discharged in October. Jimin and JungKook are scheduled to be discharged tomorrow, Wednesday, June 11. The seventh member, Suga, is fulfilling his duty as a social service agent, an alternative to military service, and is expected to be released later this month. Though several of the band members have released solo projects over the past 18 months, with many going on to earn accolades through their soloist works, the band paused all BTS-related activity until all their members had completed their service Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Why aren't K-Pop acts exempt from mandatory military service? In South Korea, a conscription system mandates that all able-bodied men aged 18 to 28 perform 18-21 months of military service. This law is in place primarily to deter aggression from rival North Korea. While certain individuals are granted exemptions, K-Pop stars and other entertainers are not typically afforded such privileges. Special exemptions are generally reserved for athletes, classical and traditional musicians, and ballet and other dancers who have achieved top prizes in specific competitions and are deemed to have enhanced national prestige. Although the law does not exempt K-Pop acts, a revision to the Military Service Act by the National Assembly allowed K-Pop stars, including members of BTS, to postpone their enlistment until age 30. This change came amidst significant public debate regarding potential special exemptions for BTS members. Ultimately, in 2022, the group's management agency announced that all seven members would fulfill their military duties.
