"They don't want Marathi parties to unite": Uddhav Thackeray hints at alliance with MNS on Sena foundation day
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 20 (ANI): Indicating that the option of an alliance with Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) was on the cards, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray said he would do what was in the minds of people of the state.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) President also took a dig at the Mahayuti alliance, saying that the BJP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena do not want Marathi parties to unite.
The former Maharashtra Chief Minister, addressing the party's foundation day event on Thursday, said if the BJP dared to finish Thackeray, then he would 'finish off' the BJP.
'... What people want will happen. We will see how it is to be done. The BJP and Shinde Sena do not want Marathi parties to unite. If you try to finish the Thackeray brand, we will finish off the BJP,' Thackeray said.
Uddhav said he would not allow the imposition of Hindi in Maharashtra. He remarked that just ahead of the BMC polls, the imposition of Hindi was nothing but an attempt to create division among Marathis and non-Marathis.
'The imposition of Hindi in the state will not be allowed at any cost. The BJP wants to create a divide between Marathi and Hindi speakers on the eve of civic polls,' the Former Maharashtra CM said.
There has been speculation of Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena and Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) coming together ahead of the BMC polls, which are expected to happen in October this year.
Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut slammed the Mahayuti government in Maharashtra for the Indrayani River bridge collapse in Pune and asked Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar whether he would take responsibility for the accident, as he is the guardian minister of Pune.
'Ajit Pawar is the guardian minister of Pune, so will he take responsibility for the accident?' Raut said in a press conference here.
Four people were killed when an old bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed.
He also criticised the Maharashtra government over the daily accidents occurring since it came to power, calling it a 'cursed government' (Panauti Sarkar).
He also raised concerns about the demolition of a platform (chabutra) near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue in Malvan. Referring to an event held there a few months ago, Raut questioned whether corruption was involved. (ANI)

PM Modi said that the nation has seen the Congress model for years, which offered nothing other than corruption, policy paralysis, the sprouting of middlemen but in BJP-ruled states, a new model of growth took shape, which is oriented towards public welfare. He also cited the model of Assam and Tripura, elucidating how the two states suffered during previous regimes but their fate and growth prospects changed after the BJP came to power there. PM Modi further said that prior to 2014, tribal communities neither got development nor participation in governance. The country had more than 125 tribal areas, all affected by the Maoist violence but instead of finding a solution, previous governments only sought to discredit them by labelling them as 'Maoist-affected'. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar detained twice in a day; BJP slams 'repressive' Mamata government
KOLKATA: Union Minister and West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar on Friday alleged that he was obstructed by the police twice in a row on the same day. Dr Majumdar accused Kolkata Police of resisting BJP's attempts to observe 'Pashchimbanga Divas' by trying to stop a two-wheeler rally led by him from reaching Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's residence on Elgin Road in south Kolkata. Later, he was stopped again while on his way to meet a doctor at the latter's residence in the Bhowanipur area. When the doctor, identified as Rajat Subhra Banerjee, went down the road to meet the Union Minister, he was also picked up in a police car. Both were detained and taken to Lalbazar, the Kolkata Police headquarters. Protesting 'the repressive behaviour of the autocratic Mamata Banerjee Government', the state BJP has called for blockades, demonstrations, and movements in every district centre today and tomorrow. Notably, Dr Rajat Subhra Banerjee had last year asked a few questions to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during an interaction at Kellogg College in London regarding the present situation in West Bengal. According to political observers, the incident had put the state government in an awkward position.
